Shaan – Host of Star Voice of India
He started very young with ad-jingles. He paired up with his sister Sagarika to come up with Naujavan which was filled with youthful fervour. He, then, went his own way to not only sing on his own but also write and compose his songs. Tanha Dil became an anthem for the youth. He made his foray into films with Musu Musu Hasi, Woh Pehli Baar which made him a singing sensation.
He got even closer to our hearts with his warm smile when he joined hands with Gajendrra Singh in 2004 and began anchoring Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. One cannot miss hearing the smile in his voice too. Each song, right from Dus Bahane to Chand Sifarish to Rock and Roll Soniye, is loaded with attitude.

SHAAN…What’s going on Man? You have incredibly foolish and annoying judges! They talk of old Hindi songs, but they themselves ape/compose/use the English language, to get across the latest in trends of today’s music, constantly taking digs at the participants!! At the second round (making sure that SOME participants alone were re-heard, to make it to the FINALS, and not according the second round to a few other deserving ones, is UNFAIR & GROSS!
A glaring example is the Computer-Pro, who sang ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna, giving it all the western punch (none of you seem to want in cases of other singers), and yet another one got doled out by her, which was not good at all, and got her FULL MARKS!! What was so HINDUSTANI about this lady and your search for THAT SPECIAL VOICE? Shaan himself, many a time, has rendered songs with a western-lilt!!
It seems a battle is now brewing between Abhijit and Jatin (thank God it wasn’t Alka Yagnik), with unfair/unwarranted comments! Such a sheer waste of time and energy! Jatin also got up to demonstrate an oldie to a singer, and asked him to imitate it!! If these guys are as good as they make themselves out to be, ALL 5 should have vied for the VOI, allowing me to say too, that NONE would qualify!! Playback is SEVERAL takes and retakes before okaying the song, and on this platform, it’s just that ONCE and all’s over! It takes a lot to be doing a song in that one appearance – WORDS/SUR/TAAL/RENDITION/SHOWMANSHIP, and only a few really have it all – hats off to those who have come onto that platform and got exposed to the sad choice of judges?
It is unfair on the part of the VOI Management too, and Gajender Singh in particular, to be conducting a program we all wait for so eagerly, only to find dirty politics being played right thru’!! Sorry, this now stinks, and if you’re honest, you’ve probably heard the opinion of millions around the world already ….

I entirely agree with Laxmi. The judges have made a mockery of the proceedings and have taken this platform to quench their thirst for each others’ blood.
I agree with Abhijeet that Arvind is a class singer and it was a shame jatin and adesh tought otherwise. Adesh has has not seen a rec studio in maybe last few years. Jatin, your singing sucks bugger.

Star Voice of India is a great show without the judges. Please get all the judges (except Lalit) from the show.

Shan you have a great voice quality. I really loved the sond remixed “DIL KIA KARAY” and become a fan of yours.
In Amul Star Voice of India you are in best of the compares. and in participants I like Irfan, Toshi, Harshid and Abbas. But I was so much annoyed with the decision of eliminating Toshi. Please this is my humble request to change the system of voting and give authority to Judges back. Public is not a best judge.
Sahab-ur-Rai log hi behter Judge hotay hain. LAKH YA KAROR GADHON KAY VOTE SAY SAHI FAISLA NAHEE HOTA.
Shan Please give me your email ID Please.
mine is mehmudasif@yahoo.com
hope to get you response in my inbox

Hi Shaan,
I have been watching VOI and thoroughly enjoy it. I applaude the programme and the directorship.
I was however a little taken back by Abhijeet today. It seemed as though he was throwing a spear at one of the contestants during the end of the episode. Infact it almost seemed as though this was directed to ishmeet due to comments that may have been made by persons unknown to Ishmeet… I am not sure if it was wise to leave the public feeling that they had missed something here. I do believe that this programme has a very large viewership and any ambiguity would lead to unneccesary comments being posted. I also feel that the judges should be least affected by comments from the public, it’s the contestants that are being judged here and not the judges. There will always be critics of the show, but that is the reallity, so accept it!!! Also it would be nice to know what ABhijeet meant by his numerous untoward comments today. He’s a gr8 guy, but he’s digging his own hole here…..

Hi all, I just love Star VOI and that includes all my family members. The singers are awesome and as the competition is nearing its finale, its heart breaking to see the singers leaving stage one by one. The voting is going hay wire like an ECG but I am sure the top 10 contestants, well most of them will be very successful in their singing careers. We across the borders in Pakistan love following this program each week and the voices of Toshi & Abhaas touch our hearts each time they sing a number that has both melody and lyrics. Hats off to the entire team of the program. Wishing you best of luck in the future programs.

Hi Shaan,
The program is an excellent one.
But dont you think that you are commiting a blunder by organizing shows lke this.
If at all you want to promote shows like this, I would suggest you to keep the singer election with the judges only.
Even you might be aware that by leaving the voting to public, you can see that horible singers are getting selected while good ones are being kicked out.
THIS IS AN UNFARE GAME.
I personally fel that Ishmeet Singh is not fit to be the star voice of INDIA.
I think the other contestants like
Harshit Saxena,
Irfan Ali,
Sumitra Iyer,
and the little Abhas,
have better voice and control over music than Ishmeet.
I am 100% sure that even the others would agree with me.
Dude the results SUCK.
I hope you do not do the same mistake again with little champs.
Thanks and regards
Raj.
