Toshi And Sharib – Look alike controversy at Voice of India
We all have grown up seeing and hearing the most famous Bollywood sequence of the reunion of brothers who were once separated in Kumbh Ka Mela. Well, something similar happened in Amul Star Voice of India but with a slight twist.Toshi from Jaipur a participant in Star Voice of India has got striking similarity in looks with Sharib who was a runner up in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main aur Ek Tu.
Well, one would just brush aside this comparison but it went overboard when Star received huge amount of emails from the viewers stating that they feel cheated that Sharib had come once again to participate in the musical concert but with a new identity of Toshi.
Such was an uproar that Shaan had to call Sharib to the show and made him stand next to Toshi to end viewers’ dilemma that they are indeed two different people. Well those of you who do not know Sharib and Toshi are not twins. Sharib is 3 years younger to Toshi.

The resemblance between Sharib and Toshi is uncanny.Who wouldn’t say they are twins!But i feel SVOI should lay off Toshi a bit.they are putting too much pressure on him.consequently the audiences’ expectations will be sky high and there is a danger of loosing an exceptional talent too soon.The judges going overboard over Abhilasha and Abhaas is worrying too.If they continue like this we will be left with mediocre singers like Sandeep Acharya in the end.”long live the underdog” is what indian audiences are most comfortable with!

I agree with the above comment. Toshi and Sharib are so unbelievably similar looking anyone would think they are twins. And Toshi is undoubtedly an awesome singer.
Talking about pressures, I might be digressing a little bit here, but don’t you guys think Alkaji has something personal against Priyani Vani? Remember the first audition where she sang “Tumhari adaaon pe main wari wari”, her range, her classical singing and her sweet voice was just terrific. In fact I think she is much better than Abhilasha. And then “Kabhi Neem Neem” was just fabulous. And Alka had to admit she is a fighter but when she said she sang well, she actually said it so hesistantly, almost like someone was making her say that on gun point. And finally for “Beeti Na Beetayi” Alkaji totally grabbed the opportunity of screwing her with a 6, when just “Halki se Shruti” was going “idhar udhar”. All other judges are extremely happy with Priyani, but for some reason Alkaji is the only one who does not seem to be too impressed. Why Alkaji?…

about PRIYANI.look at the song she selected for today-’chalo chalen mitwa in oonchi neechi raahon pe’(nayak).Now compare it to ‘beethi na beetayi raina,’kabhi neeem neem’,'teri adaaon pe mein’.All of them are in the same range same meter.Even in a do or die situation she simply cannot afford to come out of her comfort range.
What can we expect from her in the gala rounds? A slow balad will expose her weakness.
Remember aadesh didnt support Priyani yesterday-only Abhijeet.he gave her only 8′for beethi na beetayi’.The Fight was over sumithra.
BUt we came to know who everyone’s favourite was…Abhilasha- all said’sab ko sunnahai tho phir hum tho abhilasha ko sunna chahenge(aadesh-zindagi bhar!1)-no one elses name was mentioned in their wish list.

I only have access to the uploaded videos, and I haven’t seen the “Chalo Chalein mitwa” song sung by Priyani yet, coz I believe it hasn’t been uploaded yet. So I cannot comment on whether she sang it well or not. But as far as her comfort zone is concerned I guess, all the songs that she has chosen are very difficult to sing.
Even in Chalo Chalein, the “Kaant Khaye na haye haye yeh prem mitwa” part is very tricky, and she could have easily fumbled if she wasnt careful or well prepared. Like I said I haven’t seen her performance on this song yet, so I don’t know how she faired.
About comparing Abhilasha with Priyani, I take it back, Abhilasha is really good, but the point I was trying to make was that Priyani is very good too and that Alkaji is too hard on her. About Beethi na Beethayi, I agree there were mistakes but like Jatinji said she sang really well, but needed some more polishing, it was not mediocre singing. The thing is, Priyani has been choosing difficult songs to prove her mettle, and it has done her more harm than good. I still think Priyani is way better than what Alkaji thinks Priyani is.

Hi this is Shubhaankar Chakraborty, had been watching the Star VOI with great passion, since audition round, but unfortunately this sundays episode had saddened and demoralised me, All the four judges(male) gave Priyani Vani 9 just to settle scores with Alka Yagnik and satisfy their alter ego, which in the consequence put Ismit in stake and ousted Vipul from the contest.
It would have been wise to make all the singers sing and then they would have chosen top twelve contestants, this would not have turned the matter bitter and would have been agreeable to any body. I personally think that Priyani did not deserve more than 6 in the performance she delivered, as in the futile attempt to save his face Abhijit said that she was under pressure situation, the same thing stood with the other contestants also. NEWAYS chalo its their show and they have their own way. Best of luck.

This episode totally demoralised me.I agree with you shubhankar.
It is priyani’s destiny that Alka objected to her and she became a star overnight.or her fate would have been similar to C2005 where she was on the bench till the very end and finally picked up by HR on the last day.And he lost her in the very first round.He didnt squeal about her but created a furore over aishwarya in the same episode..Priyani’s 5 performances after ‘teri adaaon pe’ were so fogettable no body would have missed her..
but what really left a bad taste was Jatin(who i admire most)saying”i would have given you 8 or 7..but you have foundation..DUH.
then “you have to work very hard”??!!.
“your standing notes were wrong..but you are a singer”???!!!
“You didnt sing that well”!! WHAT THE HELL!!
What about the eliminated singers sitting in the front row..how do you answer to them and their fans grrr.
well Priyani leaving last night could have left in ablaze of glory even if her singing was not up to par..
but now..
the audience who will bother to vote next week will be avid viewers , many of them supporters of more deserving but eliminated contestants or other remaining contestants…If Alka leaves the show,it will be worse,there will be a backlash..

I agree with Lalit. Vipul might be a good singer or I would say above average. But his voice does not have that “DUM”. I don’t know if this is his adolesent (transforming) voice or if his voice is indeed this way for good, but his voice does not sound too impressive. Honestly, I am not grieving about losing Vipul. I wish him all the best though, and hope that he does not lose hope entirely.

This is becoming like Challenge 2005. The judges should try to be as fair as possible without bringing in personal prejudices or vengeance. Himesh Reshamiya has cooled down this time in SaReGaMaPa, but Aadesh is falling into his category. He has no manners, and shouts and yells at a drop of a hat. Is that a way to talk to a lady? that to in front of so many people? and on cam? please. And other judges too, what is wrong with listening to a contestant once more if one of the judges wants to hear it? Alka might have been so mortified, how would she come back and with what face for the following episodes. I totally respect her decision of quiting, this show is not worth losing her dignity. Let these dogs do as much yelling and barking as they want. They have no maturity and are fighting like kids, it’s unbelievable!

Toshi you really rocked. Be it classical songs, soothing heart felt songs like Din Dhal Jaye or a full energy song like Kaho Na Kaho, you have shown your versatility throughout and done justice to all the songs you have chosen. I couldn’t believe it when you sang the Arabic part so well… Oh my god, hats off to you man. I replayed the song so many times. God bless you man, and may you be the winner.

Seriously Toshi, you are very talented, your years of riyaz and your hard work shows in your singing. But Sonu Nigam pointed out a very good thing, something that even I was feeling. If a particular song doesnt need all the “gayaki” there is not need to do it, there is always a risk of spoiling the very mood of the song. I liked your “Teri Diwani” song, and became your diwani after that, even earlier someof your songs like “Din Dhal Jaye”, “Piya Re” awesome man. Keep up the good work.

i am really disappointed to see that Toshi is out. He was the best singer of VOI. Gajendra Singh should allow the judges to bring him back, and 60% points should be given to the judges and 40% weight to the public voting. This will make sure no wrong decisions are made. And another thing….
It should made sure that the participants area of origin and religion and financial condition should be kept a secret. A lot of biasness occurs from these informations being aired on the show.
P.S. i think the show will seriously lose popularity after todays results.

man wat is wrong with ure ‘janta’ …… u voted out TOSHI … who was by far the best … if not the best then id say . .he was right up there with harshit ….. but toshiz voice was different …. he was the best candidate for this crown …. and u just let him go just like tht …. DISAPPOINTING to say the least … how could u ppl forget his “teri deewani … din dhal jaye … piya re … ” he sang these songs better than the original singers … beautiful voice and its a pity tht he was voted out with so many rounds more to go …. i dont knw who deserved to go out … but one thing im sure of n can say .. keh Toshi did not deserve to go AT ALL … this is totally unfair and a biased attitude … i agree with the above comment .. this show will definitely lose popularity … same has been the case with the other talent show “indian idol” .. due to some pathetic voting .. uve lost some of the best singers there as well … abhishek & deepali .. and the one girl who deserved to be voted out like 8-9 rounds before .. “ankita” is still up there contending with the last 4 for the title … this is a hilarious and a pathetic show of judgement to say the least …

TOSHI ko wapis lao … kiya kartay hoo … kitna kamaal banda .. kitni kamaal awaaz kho di hai …. uss banday mein legendary singer banay ki saari qualities thein …. yeh iss program ka taqaza nahi tha .. keh TOSHI jaisey kamaal singer ko nikal bahar karo …. uss mein quality thi keh Nusrat, Kailash Kher etc type kay kamaal tareen singers kay ganoon ko ley kar aisay gaye keh loog original gaaney bhool jaein … seriously ive stopped listening to Kailash Kher’s ‘teri deewani’ and Nusrat’s ‘piya re’ after TOSHI’s version of these songs ….. saari jaan nikal kar phek di hai iss show mein say TOSHI ko alvida keh kar … mujhey yaqeen nahi hota keh jis banday ki PAKISTAN mein itni following thi uss banday ko tumaray mulk kay logoon nay kaisey nahi pasand kiya …. yeh insaniyat kay dairay say bahar ki baat lag rahi hai … make an exception .. bring tht guy bak …. seriously … ussay wapis lao show mein … dekhtay hain woh aur kitnay ganoon ko ley kar original say bhi behtar gaa kar deta hai .. for all of us (.. be it in ure country or across the borders ….) .. to cherish the awe-inspiring performances … seeing him perform is a spectacle in its own league …. go watch his performances on youtube or this site or wherever u get to see em …. and decide for ureself whether this guy deserved to be voted out at this stage … for me hez ‘the voice of music’ … ‘sangeet ki awaaz hai’ …

Please bring TOSHI back.Everyone knows that he has been the best thing that happened to SVOI.Every song he is the best on the show and incomparison to all shows on TV be it Indian Idol 3 or SRGMP.
Gajendraji there has to be a way out to bring this amazing talent back in the show.This is for you Toshi, Insha Allah you will be back in the show and Allah sabr karne walon ke saath hai.

hai i am kanta from bangladesh.i liked ur show very much. but i have stopped to watch this show when toshi was eliminated.how it was possible that toshi was out of this show. it will be unfair if he will not enter this show. i want toshi back . if he will not in this show i never watch this show anymore as well as star plus.best of luck toshi always remember that nobody can stop you u are the fire u always rock.
