Videos of 21st July Episode of Amul Star Voice of India
Yesterday, we saw chaos on the sets of Voice of India. Sometimes I really feel that they should have some fix format for the show and should’t take decision on the spot. Now they have 14 contestants and they want only 12 for Bemisal Bara. So two of them should go out. In the last episode Alka Yagnik wanted to listen again to Priyani and Sumitra but other judges were not convienced with her. So lets see what happens next …Here are vidoes of 21st Episode of Star Voice of India
Part II
Part III
Part IV

Why do u guys take Alka Yagnik as a judge? When she herself is not a fair judge. If you watch/ follow Star Voice of India, u ll see that her attitude and comments for women singers are always negative or lacking. The thing is any blind or deaf person can she that she doesnt want a woman competitor. Alka Yagnik’s head has blown out of proportion by wining too many awards, that too ONLY for Chopras movies etc. Otherwise she isnt extraordinary. So next time when u guys choose the panel make sure u r fair and DO NOT GET HER! She is such a ^%%&&*(&. An arrogant……!

Sumitra is amazingly fantastic. She should be selected in final6. We do not have a singer like her in India and it can easily be seen that Alka Yagnik is quite treatened by her. Bcos if Sumitra is selected Alka Y will not get many songs! After all with singers like Ashaji, Lata ji, Sa re gama singers who are now playback singers and sumitra are much better than Alka Y!!! And maybe lateron she (Alka Y) might be left with no songs! Too bad Alka! U deserve this after your RUDE behaviour.

Are these too comments made by an irate sumitra fan or 2 sumitra fans.Alka seemed to be happy enough with sumitra’s performance.
Shouldnt she be given as much credit or discredit as Jatin for calling Mirande or lalith for wanting to listen to Irfan.
Or are you mad because Alka was so right in her judgement of priyani.
just bashing someone loudly isn’t goingto make any difference..millions have watched the show.
So take a chill pill.Your favourite may have added some extra votes in her kitty. And that is good!

Priyani is better than sumitra
How we can question Alka ji who has proved her self. We should not allow to publish such comments which can upset judgement.

Alka Yagnik is really a dumb-ass, envy-stricken, nincompoop judge.

Alka yagnik was right….Priyani has got shaky voice, she should not be in the top 12…instead arindam or arvind dhadwal or M shree ramachandra;any of the three should have come in top 12…but its judges call so…..

I had been supporting Priyani right from “Tumhari Adaoon pe” and “Kabhi Neem Neem”, and was believing that Alkaji had something personal against her. But her later performances have been very bad. Her voice quality is good, but somewhere like the other jugdes say, she has that potential in her, but it is not coming out fully.
But this is a competition and we cannot give someone points who has not performed well. So, I am afraid, I have to admit and no matter how reluctant I am to say this, but I agree with Alkaji. Priyani really does not deserve to be in the top 12.
Like someone has mentioned, if we are giving points to someone who has potential and can bring it in their future performances, there were so many other contestants that were far far better. Why did we let Sriram go, he was really good, and even Arvind for that matter. I feel sorry for Vipul, but I was not all that impressed with his voice quality.
Alkaji might have been hard on the female contestants but that is also because she can relate to female songs better than male songs. All through her struggling years she might have been singing the old songs and by now she knows exactly when and where a particular song has the twists and turns. Just like Abhijeetji instantly reacts to a Kishore Kumar song.
The other judges too, never denied Alkaji’s judgement, they always agreed that Priyani had lost out on the minute details, but still for some reason favored her. It never happened that Alkaji was accusing Priyani of making mistakes just out of nowhere. The other judges totally agreed that Priyani did mistakes but still gave her extra points coz she chose a difficult song, or she had some pressure or whatever lame excuses they could think of. This is not fair at all.
Now, Priyani is under watch by everybody who is keenly interested in this show. Like Jatinji said, when the Gurukuls are formed, the music directors should bring out the true potential in her and prove that their judgement about her was correct. She has a great responsibility on her shoulders. The judges are going out of their way to give her the credit.
Priyani please do not let them and us down. This is your chance, show us all what you have!!!

Well abt Sumitra… If she deserves 7 or 8 for her singing, she makes it 9 or 10 through her cheap songs selection and cheap dressing.
No wonder that guys love her. She sang all the songs picturized on Helen or so… and she acts like Helen too.

Priyani’s “chalo chalein mitwaa” was a very bold attempt.. but she cudnt live upto it due to a bad beginning going off key n flat thru’ the mukhdaa.. she did stabilise in the antara and did a good job with the higher notes n harkats there (as in her previous performances).. but the damage was already done- leaving a strong impression in Alkaji’s mind..leading to her ouster from the contest
Priyani does have good potential for playback singing but her voice is certainly not suited for stage performances..sounds shaky n superficial in the lower range..

Sumitra is undoubtedly a good singer and a confident performer.. But her performance on 21st july, seemed mere performance, with the song being pre recorded..
I happened to watch the whole episode on tv and there was an abrupt change in the audio quality when her song was on.. her voice sounded a bit muffled quite unlike the clarity n crispness that it usually has.. The singing was “flawless” even thru’ the outstanding “performance” with all the jhatkas.. was really hard to digest..
Has anyone else not noticed this??
[It is not that obvious in the uploaded video especially with the song being split into 2 parts]
Mirande’s extraordinary performance on 20th is also raising similar doubts in my mind- though i cant comment on it since I’ve not seen the episode on tv..
Can’t understand why SVOI had to resort to such petty gimmicks if they had already decided beforehand on taking certain contestants forward..or on leaving out a few..
All for TRP?
I also noticed double standards on the part of the judges when they came to Abhaas n Vipul.. they kept pulling down Vipul for his age, saying he should’ve come to the contest when he was older- he couldn’t be the VOI (even though his voice didnt sound kiddish), yet, lauded Abhaas.. even though his voice is still in the transition/tranformation stage..and proclaimed him to be a front runner for the title of VOI..
Also, the unfair treatment meted out to Aditi for singing “Hari Om Hari” fabulously [totally different from her genre of classical singing], making her sing a regular song which didn’t suit her voice/scale that too totally unprepared and judging her on that- all looked pre- meditated..how come they never realised that Sumitra has been sticking to a particular genre of songs..??

GREAT CONTESTANTS..PATHETIC ALKA
Voice of India is a treat to watch mainly die to the fantastic quality of its contestants.
Abhilasha, Abhas, Toshi, Mirande, Prantik, Sumitra, Irfan and the rest of the top 12 are brilliant beyond words.
The irritating aspect is poor behavior of judges and judgements. Especially Alka appears biased, threatened, irritated about most female singers. she doesnt even bother to congratulate most of the female singers. Just watch her face, when the singing is on, she is trying to look discerningly and grudgingly looking to rubbish their singing.
We have get into a bit of details. Everyone in the judges panel have great ears except Alka. She is just there to toss her shampooed hair, and make nasty comments. I would like her to attempt live singing and prove that she can sing those difficult & peppy RDB numbers.
VOI does have its gimmicks in raising its TRP ratings by allowing the dirty fights between Aadesh and Alka. Everyone knows that they have professional differences. Alka is a cheapster clothed in fineries. She prevented Sunidhi from coming in as a guest in the show. She is forever threatened by new singers. Today sunidhi, shreya take away most of the top songs made in hindi industry.
Priyani has stuff in her. everyone has a bad day under pressure, but one has to be fair to everyone and not single out anyone for meting out biased decision. there are several other singers who deserved to have a second hearing in this case. well favouritism is call of the day in india. atleast we can take relief that this contest is not yet reached the SMS stage where regionalism, looks, language comes into play and singing takes a back seat. i am told that 50 percent of the votes will be reserved for SMS so that the director and judges can take home fat returns on their emotional drama. The conclusion is that atleast i look forward to this great contest purely because of its fabulous singers. india is a land of great music talent and lets us cheer that and enjoy it

The format of this show is flawed. There is no point blaming the judges for that.I believe each judge should have been give one person out of 14 that they feel needs to prove him/her self again. So they had to pick 2 out of 5 which is what they did eventually.Alkaji is correct in pointing out Priyani’s mistakes but she has impressed other judges enuf(you don’t need to impress Abhijeet,it depends on which side of he bed he wakes up)so Priyani deserves to be 12th in the last 12.Toshi,Abhilasha,Prantik,Prantika,Abhaas and Sumitra(she has audience support) look like top 6.Sumitra was my fav initially since she sang RDB/Asha numbers but she looks one dimensional, she needs to sing a Lata/Asha classical convincingly.

I have a feeling that this series will take the detour that emphasizes on performances rather than singing.
Many great voices have already been sacrificed through biased opinions. Vipul is any day better than Priyani. But he had to go because he wasnt a favorite with the judges. can u just give a reason why all judges gave 9 marks each for priyani when she sang badly and said they wanted to give her a chance.
well lets hope to enjoy some good singing in the coming days

As for the person who asked…any tears for Vipul? YES, DEFINITELY. The boy was fabulous and it is a real shame he is not here today. Had he been here, he would have easily made it into the top 6 with people’ votes. They said “sur ke saath koi samjhota nahin” and yet we have people that do not deserve to be this this group (ie Priyani, Prantik, Mirande, and Ishmit). TOSHI is truly the best in this group. Other good singers include Abhilasha, Abhaas, and Prantika.
As for Alka, I don’t think she’s a bad judge…snooty yes, but not as bad as the other guys. IF you guys are saying she is unfair to the females then I can say the guys are overly friendly to the girls: ie Priyani, and Mirande. I agree with the comment that she knows what the girls need to deliver and she is more discriminating.

Jatin Pandit (who I admire very much as a music composer) and Aadesh Srivastava (something of a bully) seem to have blatant double standard when it comes to voice quality of a singer. Remember Arvind from Kangra? How roughly was he treated when he sang ‘Jiye To Jiye…’ from ‘Saajan’ (which in my book was very touching and of original voice) by Jatinji only on the pretext that his voice somehow or other matches Kishore Kumar and Kumar Sanu’s, despite singing tunefully and was given very low points. Aadeshji as usual made fuss about tonal quality and followed Jatinji. Now, putting this into context how would you react when you see the same people(Jatin & Aadesh) giving Harshit very high marks in the 11 August(‘Jo Haal Dil Ka…’) episode, despite imitating Kumar Sanu more conciously and obviously. He also copies Kishore Kumar conciously when he sings Kishoreji’s songs. I am not here to prove that Harshit is a bad singer but, if having fresh voice is one of the criteria then he shouldn’t get higher points especially from Jatinji and Aadeshji logically, as they have always been fastidious about independent voice. I think Harshit is a very good singer but a little overrated in this show by all the judges except Abhijeetji. I think Abhijeetji is fairer in assessing Arvind and Harshit on the same grounds. Coming back to Jatin Pandit and Aadesh Srivastava, my question is how can they be so whimsical and inconsistent in their judgement on such a big show? Other viewers of VoI also post your views on this if you like to.

Sumitr, You are right. I found Abhijeet and Alka being more impartial during judging than others. Jatin seems little partial towards Music composure team. But am sure Abhijeet has really worked hard with Priyani, Irfaan and Prantik. And they are improving in every episode. But Lalit and Adesh had the best singers Toshi, Mirande, Abhas, Harshit on their side who are performing in their own way. Harshit has very good play back voice (voice of Kishoreda, but agian in Bollywood lot of other singers have similar voice like Kishoreda or Rafi Saab) but he does not have the right kind of Music talent. I am not against Harshit, he has a voice that can be used in melodious songs but this show is looking for the best voice. So it should be a new voice with great music talent.
That I think, I am listening through voices of Toshi, Irfaan, Priyani, Mirande, Abhaas. Ashpreet also to some extent. Others are very good singers also but they are more regular singers. Their voices have nothing new. Anyways, they all are better singers than Saregampa singers. Only Raja and Aneek can come close to these singers. May be Amanat will also be in this team.
Let’s see how this AVOI is going. It seems this has best talents.
