Good riddance

Abhilasha’s performance was the best in the Sanjay Dutt episode, yet she is in the Chakravaat again! But as Shaan said, maybe the Chakravaat is lucky for her. I agree, good riddance now that Sumitra is out.
Shashi, Rishi, someone – who got the highest votes this time? I hope it is not Harshit, and Irfan proved Jatin wrong again. If it is Harshit (wonder how he survived this time!) that means something fishy is going on.
By gin on Sep 24, 2007 | Reply
If it is harshit..then probably the UP/dadi/family situation factor and also maybe past performances played a role too..
i doubt voi does any data manipulation, otherwise thosi, abhaas couldn’t have been eliminated..
so mr lalit and adesh are left with only one contestant..

sumitra…………… I believe that common person can’t select the talent and I completely agree with Mr. Khayaam . Now public proved it that don’t have ability to select any talent. and format of voting from public is ridicules.

Well congrats all of you sumitra is out. Its good to hear that wild card round is being held and priyani would be back definitely and thts according to our point of view , but from contestants point of view it would be terrible they would be thinking like indian cricket team , as if T20 cup final would have a rematch according to umpires ?? sounds good !!!? anyways dont believe in wild cards india have won so beat it out !!!
By Anjani11 on Sep 24, 2007 | Reply
How can this be fair…(dont like Sumitra’s singing personally and I did not like her “acting”..) but this is stupid…Im saying what is stupid to me is how can Harshit not be in the bottom 3…I have to say last week Ishmeets first song was sooo nice…he sung it so well, well enough to be taken notice off, and hes in the bottom 3…seriously this is so fishy…..either adesh and lait vote themselves for their nephew Harshit, OR they count the votes…totally unfair..
As for the Wild Card entry…seriously this guy who seems to know so much abt music, (I dont know his name)… he clears says …public ko kuch nahi pata..totally agree, and THEN they hand 4 names down and let the public decide on who comes bak !@#$%^&*..stupid…I seriously hope Toshi does not come back , personally I would love to see him and Priyani back..but with all this drama, they shouldnt come back into this crap coz thats what it is turning out to be like….when they sung, the stage looked decent again instead of the remaining 5 singing…seriously the ones that were out sung so well, theres a huge difference in the singing qualities..(personal opinion)..

what a farce…a round of eliminated contestants. For what?? What about other contestants who have performed well to be in the contest. Is the channel trying to correct the Junta’s decision. Then start the competition once again and keep the people out of judgement. but don’t insult and waste money of millions of people who have so painstakingly voted. now it’s up to individuals…whether they want to be fooled and insulted or should stop voting and mint money for others?????

Hi
I heard that Sumitra is eliminated ! some what surprised
Could we watch the videos of that ? when you are releasing on website ? as i am staying in Austria and would like to continueing to watch those ones.
Thanks for the videos

Dear Blodcaster,
Agreed on the pint that don’t insult Public decision and money but what about the people like Ishmeet for whom the bogus votes have given not only to Ishmeet may be other contestants. Mr. Khayam is very much right that public has no knowledge of judging the right talent.
This is the same public who throws the rotten eggs and Tomatoes for the bad performance and songs in future from the same selected Candidates by them. It is fair to select the candidates who have the right knowledge of music. Music is a food for soul and ones performance and singing should touch the heart and not just give a good comparison and justification to the original song.
I think Toshi, Irfan, Priyani and Abhas are the best. The Dadi character Harsheet sings well just mimicking the original song but can’t touch ones heart. Ask him to sing any alap or Raagas like Raaga darbari or any other raaga. He can’t because he has no knowledge of it. People awake and listen to the music properly no offense please.

Sumitra Gone. Excellent. She should have been out long ago. Shabeena i agree with you, that is what has happened with II3. Prashant Tamang – who became II3 because he got maximum votes from his police colleagues – but to my knowledge he cannot be anyones idol – do you think people are going to look upto him – a BIG NO. Same way goes with SVOI, if we go with public voting, you might see Ishmeet becoming VOI as Punjab is the richest state of India and will keep getting more votes and that honestly will be like banging your head against a wall. In my opinion, Toshi, Irfan, Priyani and Abhaas are the top four.
By Neel on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
“Sumitra Gone. Excellent. She should have been out long ago.” abhay, you hv echoed my view. Next Ishmeet should go.
From the wild card round only one will get entry and this should have been done based on the judges points. Going to the public voting again could bring in some undesirable element. On merit it should be Toshi or Abhas or Priyani. Let’s see.

By Sadiq on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
Well, its good that Sumitra is eliminated and anybody know who got the highest votes this week.
It will be good atleast if Gajendra remove the public voting when the contestants reaches to three singers and let the judges decide who is VOI. Regarding Wildcard entry there will be entry of two singers out of four that too after public voting again. Hope Toshi and Priyani shows up on stage again. Toshi should agree to come only if the format is changed otherwise Agni judges will play game and eliminate Toshi again and Panwala will be VOI.

Dear Sadiq
Harshit got the highest votes.
By Sadiq on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
Thanks Rishi.
Its a fake voting system, I don’t think Panwala got highest votes, maybe the VOI management helped him by transferring other votes, just think about the last time Harshit singing and he forgot the song three times and another song one time and was not saying words correctly as always, surely by looking at this people are not crazy to vote him. Maybe Adesh’s hand is in this. He should be eliminated next time.

Excellent that Sumitra is out. She should have gone long back. What is Mr. Adesh going to do now?
HARSHIT got the highest point???????????????

whenever abhilasha performs just see alka yagnik,as if she is sitting for abhilasha, judge should always be neutral, if harshit forget song in one episode than he is consider as bad and if abilasha forgets for 3 times in 3 diffrent episode than she is considered as bachhi and encouraged by judges, this is not fair, also you ever seen alka yagnik encouraging
mirande in gujarati language being gujarati? but at the time of abhilasha she was just begging for votes in gujarati language from gujarat, shame shame. Also i wish to tell that sumitra is special kind of singer and no one can sing what she can sing thatsall
By Sakshi on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
I agree. Between Abhilasha and Sumitra, Abhilasha should have gone. Abhilasha is the teacher’s pet. I hated her when she did that drama on the stage of foregetting to sing not once but twice on two different occasions. I really am surprised that Abhilasha is still around. I think she must have paid off Gajendra and Alka Yagnik. Abhilasha is the worst contestant. She may have had a good voice, but she has the worst character. How can she say its unfair that Toshi is given another chance when she herself has got two chances. What a hypocrytic bitch. Abhilasha YOU ARE THE WORST. WE PREFER ISHMEET OVER YOU, AT LEAST HE IS HONEST AND NON-HYPOCRYTIC. ABHILASHA GET LOST!
By Sangeeta on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
I too agree. Abhilasha should have gone. She is the embodiment of injustice to quality singers. Well said Sakshi. I too believe Abhilasha is a Snake. She lacks character. How dare she say that Toshi and others should not have got a second chance. Pot calling the kettle black. Abhilasha has only one talent – putting on weight! With this type of a character it totally undermines her singing and her voice. I too wish her the worst. I wish she goes – she has to and she will. Get lost Abhilasha and dont make the stage impure by your presence.

How can Harshit , the shit get the higgest vote…this is cheating…Adesh probably sits there and votes for Harshit….I cannot believe that he would get the most votes without anyones help…thats not right…I refuse to accept that…
Abhilasha is crafty…she wants abhas to come back …yet not Toshi..because when Toshi was there ppl always threw nice comments on his singers, these clowns..and thats what they are ..clowns…the remaining 3 except for Irfan, who can sing, are scared shitless that if Priyani and Toshi are to come back, the limelight will go back onto them and these 3 bevkoofs will not get any praise…
I have to compliment the sardar on this, he was genuine in his comments and said yep its fine, u do wht u gotta do..BUT Shit Harshit and Abhilasha..to say that its not fair..WTf IS UP WITH THAT..mannnnnnnn………what is the drama with this show…is this even a real show…all this shit is happening……..and then they dont even announce the name on Fridays show for the wild card…?? do they want to bring sumintra in as well….UGHHHH…seriously, I always wished that Toshi would come back, but now I realise he is too good for these …I dont even know the words for these idiots…

PHEWWWWWWW!!! i think gajendar singh should change the voting format ” Vote for the contestant who you want to out of VOI “, i guess sangeeta will spend all her earnings !(kidding) .well sangeeta with all due respect please dont make it personal yaar abhilasha can be snake or anything but you know the problem is people think for themselves first then for the others .
Irfan said they should come back ( “my favourite he has nothing to worry about coz he is a good singer and public likes him” )
Sardar g has whole punjab with him who have nothing to do but to sms and make sardar mazaq of india MOI so why he bothers saying anything against wild card round
harshit (” not my favourite “) but is worried coz people like toshi more than him . You know its a human nature to be at top even if they r not worth it.
Abhilasha came so many times in chakarwaat so she is bit concerned about herself , tell me sangeeta would u prefer royality or misery for yourself ? , its similar to what the contestants like harshit abhilasha and sumitra are thinking they dont want to be out. Toshi is my personal favourite too ,after Irfan but really it would be total unjust to all remaining contestant in the competition .

Ur right Addicted. everyone will save their skin before they think anything else. Abhilasha is not that bad . But when compared to priyani she comes second and better than other female contestants.
My favorite too Irfan. I wish to see him as VOI and then comes Toshi and priyani. I hope I could see these three as top 3.
Well I think this is not possible looking at the present voting.

Hi all!
As per my information, Judges will choose 4 out of 7 and the announcement of the same would be made during friday’s telecast.
Since Sumitra was very much in the contest till the time these 7 eliminated contestants performed in front of the judges, she is getting a chance for the wild card entry to give equal oppurtunity to all the 7+1 eliminated contestants for making re-entry.
So, 4 contestants (out of 7)+ Sumitra would be considered for public voting.
Out of these five contestants (four selected contestants + Sumitra) only two would make re-entry on the basis of votes.
She might surprise everybody by declining the re-entry by wild card process by saying that she is out of the contest on the basis of Public voting and she respects the public opinion. Let us see what she decides on the day of shooting.
But it is certain she is being considered for public voting.

Is this another drama from Sumitra? Well she needs to try in cine field.
By shabeena on Sep 25, 2007 | Reply
Dear friends!!
Very WEll said Sangeeta, i had a big laughter reading your comments. I totally agree on MR. Addicted and Abhay. People, true one always try to save his or her own skin and it is human tendency. However, its well said and true that the contestansts should now understand that its high time they get this in their minds. This competitionis not all but once they come out there is the real competition an struggle starts.
The real voice will some how get the recognition since the people and all big music composers and directors have already have heard them. They very well knew whom to give a chance too. contestants like Harshit, Abhilasha etc cant fit in there.
My dear lady Abhilasha first you understand that music is a voice of soul. it has so much purity that if one has good heart same reflect in the music too. not all can sing and touch ones heart. first try to be human than giving your comments. Firstly tou have no right or aukad to comments about wild card entry. you sing well and concentrate only on that and the success follows you. Success has a long way but never no for the rightly deserved.
People, look at the Saregamapa the show is not complete but the people who didnt even made it to the best 12 also have got chance to work with freat composers like Vishal and Shekar and if that music clicks in the market. Other work will follow them by default. there lies the actual Win.
Its a Win win situation. Sardar’s comments were fantastic. What a diplomatic answer. He mean to say that who ever says what but my great punjab gives me votes so why other who comes in wild character
hahaha good one.
Well, i saiy the Judges who selected the wild card entried should also would have listen to the music of the seleted ones and if not giving their decision ut would have given the comments. That would have shown who deserves the best if its the retained ones or the wild card ones. Think on it. Lets wait and watch for Friday.

Abhilasha has enough in VOI. She has progressed more than she deserved. Its good for VOI she gets out of VOI very early.
To become a playback singer in Bollywood is not easy> It does not matter you are VOI or not.

WELL SAID SANGYA…WELL SAID !!!!
Abbhas was short circuited way too early; his mastery of sur, confidence, fluid and error free singing at ONLY 17 is astonishing…we can only how imagine he’ll sound when hegets “better”…HAHA.
Wake up people and start voting for really talent, Sumitra should have been ousted a long time ago. Abhilasha is a tremendous singer and has a sweet and unique voice…and has a better singing mastery at this point than Sumitra.
GOOD LUCK FROM CANADA TO ABBHAS, TOSHI, PRIYANI, HARSHIT, ABHILASHA, ISHMEET AND IRFAN!!!!!!!!

Great job Guys ! – Sumitra eliminated.
Though she was good but not as good as the ones who are there.
Another thing i wanted to say is – Why Harshit is not in Chakarvath…
No doubt he is a good singer. But after his performance last week, he should have been a certainity in the Chakarvath. I think Jatin-Lalit-Adesh are doing something behind the scenes or playing with the votes probably.
SO, LETS GET OUR ACT TOGETHER AND VOTE HIM OUT- IF HE CONTINUES TO DO LIKE THAT. OBVIOUSLY HE GETS THE VOTES IF HE PERFORMS-BUT NOBODY ELSE SHOULD PAY THE PRICE FOR HIM.

amongst all, the most pretentious participants are Abhilasha, Sumitra. Both are equally bad, manipulative, however Abhilasha has a special quality – she pretends to be the “POOR THING” so that she can attract sympathy vote. She falls to the ground and does the sashtang namaskar – all drama, then she pretented to cry when Toshi and the other participants were eliminated. I dont even think she has a memorable voice. all in all she is ordinary. she has got to go, i.e. if this show as Prashant says in not rigged, which is quite possible. Abhilasha is a hypocryte

Hi
I agree with Sujatha as she said that she really wish some of you people would watch your language when posting comments. You may not be impressed with or like someone but there is really no reason to bad mouth anyone. It leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.
Be fair and do not personalised things , Even there could be choices between Lata ji and Ashaji – the great voices no one has and never will be that voices , here all these are normal singers so do not get stressed
Even sometimes Shreya Ghosal is not perfect but still everyone is in learning procedure and we should accept that .
Thanks

Looks like whatever Abhilasha does or doesn’t do, people will find fault with her, that too in vulgar, brutal and indecent language. Please remember that she has also given us some great and wonderful songs. It’s not her fault that the public eliminated some good singers.
Please, you can say good things abt your favourite contestants but cut out the bad things against others.
Abhilasha, please ignore these comments and concentrate on your singing, give us some great performances, and don’t worry whether you become the VOI or not.
By John Galt on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Yes Abhilasha, please ignore all these comments, just as you were ignoring your conscience, all decency and honesty.Forget what people are writing here just as while you said that its unfair that Toshi and others get second chance and in the same moment forgot that you yourself have recieved not just one or two but three chances and that you have successfully hypnotised Alka Yagnik and Jatin with your “bechaari” factor. You used pity and hypocrisy to ride the wave to this stage. But you have successfully ignored all this, so keep on the “good” work of cheating and rigging. Well Done Abhilasha, you are Star Hypocrite Of India.

Abhilasha, deeds speak louder than words. Silence all your critics with your songs. You will automatically become VOI not only in this competition but in the real world outside.

Dear Surekhaji,
With all due regards to you I want to point out that “drama” is that thing when someone does something and then later on retracts. If someone remains firm on his decision then it is not drama.
Alka Yagnik’s leaving the show and the coming back is -drama.
Gajendra Singh’s statement that he regretted having introduced this voting system, and then resorting to voting in wild card entry – is drama.
Harshit bringing is blind grandma and then asking for votes on singing abilities – is drama.
Alka Yagnik suddenly realised that she is Gujarati and asked in Gujarati language to vote for Abhilasha- this is drama. (She all along remained in Kolkata before shifting to Mumbai. Before coming to Mumbai she used to sing for Kolkata Radio.)
Anu judge asking for the votes in Bengali, Punjabi, and Gujarati – is drama.
Whereas as per the best of my information Sumitra, even after being called for wild card entry, has refused for the entry from the BACKDOOR after getting eliminated. She has reportedly left VOI. This is NOT drama.
By sujatha on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
I really don’t know why some of u are maligning the character of a 17 year old kid who, in my opinion, is the least hypocritical. No participant, in my opinion, would want to go back on the rules to bring back eliminated opponents. It doen’t work that way in sports or for that matter in any other competition. I think the poor girl’s mistake was in openly voicing what everyone else was thinking but not saying out aloud. She is obviously too young to know that in today’s world, one needs to be hypocritical and not always voice openly what one feels, in order that one can be “politically correct”.
When the rules of the game have already been established, whether fair or unjust, one normally sticks to them and does not keep going back on them to suit popular demand.
It is obvious that the public voting format stinks but it is the same public who voted out earlier contestants. I would like to know why all these people who are so obssessed with getting back one or other of the eliminated participants didn’t do their best to make sure that their favourite remains in.
As for conning or hypnotising judges goes, you all seem to want “public voting” to stop and at the same time accuse judges of favouritism. In addition, if alka Yagnik is for Abhilasha, she has also openly complimented Priyani. Likewise, Jatin and Adesh are for Harshit and Abhijeet for Ishmeet and Irfan. So where is the question of Abhilasha playing on anybody’s sympathies?
There is one more thing I would like to point out: she had only one extra chance the time she stopped while singing “Saawariya”. The next time, during the Mahesh Butt “episode”, there was one big drama with Lalith and Adesh saying that she could not be given an additional chance as it was a competition and that other participants were objecting.
On the other hand, nobody stopped Harshit when he forgot while singing not just one but both songs. The judges of the Prithvi team were gracious enough not only to allow him to resume where he left off but also to sing along with him.
Finally, I really am beginning to wonder why there is so much rage and frustration expressed in some of the posts. Give these participants a break! If at all, u want to take it out on anybody, do so on the people who conceived this show and those who vote.
As kvriniranjan says, Abhilasha, will prove herself, if not in this contest, in the long term and make all her critics eat their words. The girl has a wonderful voice and talent that will come to the fore as she grows older.
MARK MY WORDS!

And ya right, Gajendra has heard you, how can we be so naive? People, this contest has nothing to do with the real world, this is a damn soap opera with a reality twist that tugs at your heartstrings simply because we Indians love our music!
), so folks let’s not get too emotional about this. Being the so called VOI does not cut much ice with music producers and directors in any case, so Sumitra or anybody else for that matter have a long way to go before they can “make it” In fact I have seen music directors telling contest winners (will not name any), that “if you think you have won so and so contest and therefore you are going to get a break, forget it, go sing as a backup singer for Shaan/Sonu for a while and then we will look at you”. Now how’s that for a potential VOI!
If indeed Sumitra has declined, I think it is one of the smartest things she has ever done. A smart person is one who knows one’s capabilities and also one’s limitations. If Sumitra is serious about singing as a career, she should now focus on planning and cracking into the pitiless circus that the Bollywood music industry is ( and believe me, I know a thing or two about this, 10 years is a loong time to learn!
By John Galt on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Abhilasha is HYPOCRITICAL because she was given a chance not once but thrice – twice during Jagjit Singh’s episode and once during Mahesh Bhatt’s episode. The very well learned Jagjit Singh told her that YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE. Yet she recieved 3 chances and SHE HAS THE NERVE TO SAY that the 7 eliminated contestants dont have a second chance. Abhilasha should have been disqualified there and then. You dont get such second chances in competetive exams, then why should you get this chance in other competitions. This programme is a mess as it is, but in this mess you can clearly see who have the right character and who dont. In comparison, Sumitra was the only participant who wanted Toshi back knowing very well that in a contest between Toshi and her, she would lose – this is strength of character, which Abhilasha clearly lacks. Sujatha wants to give a fourth chance saying that she is only 17 and doesnt know how to hide her true self (i.e hypocrisy). Abhilasha is clearly sweating with the idea that she might have to compete with legends like Toshi and Priyani (who she pretended was her friend) – if this is not hypocrisy what else is? Only people who know the limits of their so-called talent are scared of letting competition. I think Abhilasha should move to Russia or China as she best fits the Communist behaviour and as she knows she will be crushed by competition. So there you go – this explains why there is so much rage agaisnt Abhilasha. She is the Peter Keating in Fountainhead – talentless people who use only pity and drama to win as they know that’s the only thing they can use since they clearly lack talent.
By Pt.Harihar Shastri on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Dear John,
I like Toshi and Priyani’s voice hell of a lot, but “legends”???? maan, that’s kinda stretching it too thin, na?
Rafi sahab is a legend,Mukeshji is a legend, Kishorda is a legend, Nusrat fateh Ali Khan saaheb is a legend, and you call Toshi and Priyani legends?
By John Galt on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
agree with you. i went too far calling toshi and priyani a legend, they have a far way to go, but my frustration with talentless and hypocritical people like Abhilasha still being in competition is just driving me crazy. She should be thrown out.

Abhilasha reminds me of the days when Nadeem Shravan and Jatin Lalit just started. Jatin Lalit gave a magical timeless music to jo jeeta wohi sikandar while Nadeem Shravan gave a “Truck- Driver’s” type of music for some other stupid movie and it was Nadeem Shravan who won the Filmfare best music award. Abhilasha is like Nadeem Shravan (except she does not even have their level of talent)

Dear Shastriji,
I agree with you.
Earlier also I have written somewhere in this blog that none of the Indian Idols (1st, 2nd) have got the oppurtunities of any worthwhile playback singing. The same fate awaits to the third also.
Bela, the winner of Zee Sa Re Ga Ma (Sanjivni was second) has not got any singing contracts. Where is she now nobody knows. Bela was also the winner of Junior Sa Re Gaa Ma (Shreya Ghoshal was second). Shastriji would be able to confirm this as he might also have seen those shows ten years ago and hope he also remembers Bela.
Aditya Narain (Son of Udit Narain) would be a playback singer without entering into any competitions.
Then there would be so many singers like (Kunal Ganjawaala, Richa Sharma etc) with not more than ten memorable songs to their credit.
If at all (?) any of the winners from Indian Idol, Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and SVOI gets an oppurtunity , most likely he also would be just one of them. Way far behind from being called as legends.
The judges who seem to favour a particular singer in a show (Alka-Abhilasha, Abhijeet-Irfan, Lalit-Harshit etc) would also be a competitor for that very singer in the real world outside competition.
They (established singers), in any case, are not going to leave a song (earning) for others (new singers).
The life ahead for these new singers would be far more tough than it seems presently. They will see the real face of these judges there.
The only way is to bring a panel of respectable Judges who are now not active in playback arena but are an institution in themselves e.g. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Khayaam, Jagjit Singh, Ravindra Jain, Pandit Jasraj, Hari Prasad Chaurasia etc.

Dear Rishiji,
You are absolutely spot on!
Innumerable are the times I have seen the so called “people’s darlings”, i.e winners of contest like this, visiting studios day after day and waiting for that “great break” and as time takes it’s toll, reality strikes in , that sms polls be damned, what matters is doses of luck and great real talent. Just to give you an example, I just finished recording an ad song and I needed to do it ultra quick, and guess what, I got hold of an Indian Idol finalist ( of yester years) who did it for me literally overnight, poor chap started recording at 7 pm and finished at 4 am, and for how much? a piddly 45,000 (client just would’nt pay more)!!!. Any work is good work is the motto, SMS and all this emotional clap trap that is on this blog gets you no where, getting real work does.

hello everyone
I like reading your comments that u all keep posting in this blog. And i read about the drama thing. I really don’t remember who wrote it but no offense guys i think everybody does some or the other drama in the show eg. Irfan to tell himself as a SACCHA HINDUTANI is itself a drama. Everybody in this contest are saccha hindutani. so i think ….. once again no offense guys but i would like you all to think a bit.

Ok. Scorpion, If you have seen VOI and observed that most of the contestants said that I am from this place or that place so, please vote for me and even they said in their Languages which u can say is Drama. I don’t think what Irfan did is a Drama, in Irfan’s case he might have felt that he is in Voice of INDIA and want support from all over India so he don’t want to say he is from Hydrabad and he never used Andhra(Telgu) language to asking Votes. His heart is clean so he said he is Indian and want support from all over India. And he never said that he is only indian and not others, this was only trick of foolish Shaan he asked Irfan that u said ur sacha Hindustani and what about others, to this Irfan clearly told Shaan I never said others are not Indians and they are all Indians.
It is not a Drama for sympathy votes like Panwala Harshit, Abhilasha and other does.
Irfan has a very good talent and he is a good singer and learned singer.

hi Rishi,
Hi Rishi
Hope all well with you.
First of all thank u for bringing the news of elimination in advance. We absolutely love u for that. Coming to ur point regarding drama your are right. I dont disagree with what you said. But at the same time see the previous performances of Sumitra who ever the judge is “sir i am singing only for you” what are they. If she really trust her own talent she dont need to do all this. Look at Priyani how well mannered she is on the show. Her elimination is a really loss to the show. hope she gets wild card entry.
In ur earlier statement you mentioned about judges and their fav participants.
On that you are absolutely spot on. But I think you forgot to add one more judge and his fav i,e Adesh- Sumitra.
And finally Sumitra knows that though she enters through wild card she has no chance of reaching top 5. Better to say good buy in a dignified manner. Well done Sumitra. I appreciate your intelligence.

Dear Surekhaji,
Thanks for taking my comments in the right spirit. Yes I too agree that the statement “Sir! I am singing for you” is absolute sycophancy if not drama. I strictly abhor such kind of statements. Similarly I hate using the emotions based on region / religion / financial status / illness of a dear one / gender etc. Similarly, I urge all the writers in this blog to maintain dignity and not use derogatory remarks about any contestant especially women, and please refrain from casting aspersions on someone’s character. I know we are a citizen of a free country but still it is my appeal…
Well! thanks for appreciating me that I used to break news early. However, between 6th to 21st Oct I may not be able to do so as I would be abroad during this period and shall remain out of reach with no internet probably.
In the last, I did not forget Adesh-Sumitra in that list. I did not write it for two reasons. Firstly, someone had already written something derogatory about them so I wanted to avoid it. Secondly, I was highlighting the competition these contestants would face in the playback singing arena with the same judges who are supporting them. So I mentioned Alka-Abhilasha (both female singers), Abhijeet-Irfan (both male singers). Lalit-Harshit do not fit into this category because one is music director and other is singer but since both of them are males I included them as well in the list
.

Oh yes Surekhaji!
What was that?
Priyani to Sonu Nigam “Sir main shuru me kahti thi shaadi karungi to sonuji se hi”
Just joking, not serious while pointing it out.
By Surekha on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
well Rishi good point. But I think she did not repeat that for every judge. She told she has fascination for Sonu. Nothing wrong with that. So I don’t find it an ‘indecent proposal’. She said that when she is very young. Atleast she dint change her mind. We have to appreciate that.
Oh common, Everyone has their own dream man. I have my own dream man. But unfortunately I cant express who he is on the stage coz to my knowledge no competition for the worst singer. If there are any I am sure I will be the winner.I bet you have your own don’t u?( I am just Kidding)
By rishi on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Hey Surekha,
I just jokingly pointed out.
I know she said when she was very young.
By the way I dont have one dream woman but many. Kya kare?
And no mam! I think I would be the worst singer winner because when I will sing the remaining participants would also walk out alongwith the judges. So I will be the sole winner

i read the comments given by some of the viwers and i totally disagree with them that ishmeet & hirshit should go in the coming episodes. both the participants are verymuch consistent & awesome while performing.i personally want to request the judges not to get biased and appeal for vote in favour of a particular participant.

I’ve been following this show since almost the beginning. In the initial rounds Abhilasha and Toshi clearly stood out as the best, while Harshit sounded average to me. Since 12 were selected, I feel that except for Toshi, Abhas and Irfan everyone else was slowly trickling out in my mind as the deserving winner. These three were getting better with each performance, and were able to demonstrate their versatility and technical strength.
I’d be surprised if Toshi hasn’t been selected by the wildcard judges, because I think he was very good and was very much appreciated by the judges. Abhilasha is talented but is not consistent, and her voice that sounded so good in the first couple songs she sang in the show has been getting worse (read that as a little bit scratchy/immature).
After Toshi, then Abhas getting eliminated I was just planning to follow the SVOI show for drama because it is not longer a ‘talent’ hunt. The best talent was already out with those two and Priyani.
IMHO, except for Toshi, Abhas and to some extent Irfan anyone else getting to top three simply shows that the show isn’t about best talent at all. Nothing wrong with that, because in the end it’s all all TRPs and money which you can’t fault TV channels for.
By Desi on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Just a little addendum to my thoughts earlier- although Ishmeet seems like a simple and nice guy, it was quite unfortunate for him to be in top 12. The problem is, he’s just not VOI, but the voting format is ensuring him a place in top 5 which is simply and clearly does not deserve. The biggest travesty would be if he won the contest…. in this case I feel the judges missed their mark. They should have filtered him out from top 12 before the voting started. Now he’s stuck there, making sure that singers much better then he are being voted out because his supporters won’t let him be voted out.
By Abhay on Sep 26, 2007 | Reply
Hi All,
I agree with Desi, Abhilasha & Sumitra sang excellent in the auditions and then both of them started going down, whereas Toshi, Priyani, Irfan & Abhaas improved with every performance.
One thing should never be forgotten that we are looking for VOICE OF INDIA. I love India and hence would not want anyone who is not as talented as the four names I mentioned to be the VOICE OF INDIA.
As Alka Yagnik rightly said the struggle begins after he or she is made the VOICE of INDIA.
Anyone, whether it is Toshi (My Favourite) or anyone else, will have to struggle to get work in Bollywood. The point I am trying to make is
“Who desrves to be the VOICE OF INDIA?”
A person who is really talented or someone who gets more votes.
By Shrutika on Sep 27, 2007 | Reply
My fear:
I fear that since Abhilasha is the only female left in the competition that thousands of votes are going to be sent for either Arshpreet or Priyani in the wild card round. And I think Toshi and Abhaas, Toshi especially are going to lose out on this opportunity. People are going to get scared that the girls have quickly been ousted out of the show and they would want to do anything possible to bring them back….leaving STRONGER contestants behind.
If you enjoy their voices, help give the majority of your votes to the very capable men. They never deserved to be out in the first place..

Dear Shabeena,
You said “The Dadi character Harsheet sings well just mimicking the original song but cant touch ones heart. Ask him to sing any alap or Raagas like Raaga darbari or any other raaga. He cant because he has no knowledge of it.”
I say “do you know what you want to say exactly?
Raagas/Alap are part of knowledge(you said it) that anyone can learn, not the talent(VOI is talent search) which naturally possesing the lucky people.
i say the person (knowing raagas/aalap) can mimick singing in better way, Is’nt it? He must. Can anyone having no talent mimick so many songs correctly? I dont think so. I will not say that you are wrong, but disagree with you.”

I assume lady Sumitra would be happy on her riddance because she has got even what she ought not to have at all. I’m not saying that she is not a good singer but she doesn’t deserve a place in final 4. She is very clever if she refute wild card entry offer, as she knows her significance very well. The whole thing can’t be won on basis of singing. I’m sure Adesh will be very upset!
Apologies to the guys who are getting paid to write on behalf of Sumitra in this blog because there were comments molesting Abhilasha and Mirande as well but no one raised voice for these innocent girls, but then why for Sumitra only?
Situation at this stage is getting very confusing. This Friday, Final 4 contestants will be left and they’ll announce 4 names for wild card entry and ask public to vote again. Let’s say if by next Friday results are finalized, by then another participant will be eliminated. It means, next Friday there shall be 3 final participants and 2 wild card entries? What a mess! I think this is too late to get wild card entries.
I don’t think Final 3 participants would be happy to accept wild card entries, and specially if Toshi is back (Surely he will), then he will be a big threat to them. GUYS PLEASE VOTE FOR TOSHI IN WILD CARD ENTRY, and please stop calling him a legend. He is a fantastic singer but not a legend.

I have noted various derogatory remarks made by various disgruntled fans about Abhilasha. These comments are made by frustrated fans maybe because their favourite participants are already eliminated and they do not want to see Abhilasha making steady inroads towards the Manzil (goal) of becoming Star Voice of India.
Abhilasha is a superb & talented singer. What’s more if she can sing like this at age 17 then just imagine how good she’ll be in a year or two. Her voice is breathtaking. It is because of those qualities that she is maintaining her position. It is because of these qualities fans of other singers are jealous and in writing in a dirty filthy way they are showing their true colours.
So I urge fair minded music fans to please refrain from saying dirty and filthy comments about any particular singer. Just imagine if the contestants are reading these comments how hurt they’ll be reading bad comments about them.
Finally Abhilasha you are our DARING OF VOI. Whether you win or lose you will always remain a WINNER in our hearts. You will go very very far in the music industry. all the best wishes to you for you are a lovely girl, no dramas – you are just amazing. Her voice is unique and so soothing, she mesmerizes the audience with her performances. Your true fans are always with you. We are so proud that you have reached the top 4 and still going on. You will one day be the true unique voice of India. Chak De Phatte Abhilasha !!
Abhilasha please ignore what other people say about you. You concentrate and focus only on your singing. Our prayers are with you.
EAST OR WEST YOU ARE THE BEST !!

People who are commenting against Abhilasha are doing so, if I remember right, only after she showed her ‘innocent’ mug on national TV and said she was unhappy about wildcard round.
Wildcard rounds are a standard in such shows, take an example from American Idol which is one of the most popular reality shows in the USA. Agreed, the method and timing are different but the concept itself is nothing new at all.
I think Abhilasha is a good singer, but not VOI caliber, and Ishmeet certainly not. The fact that Abhilasha is young is making her supported give her leeway, but just LOOK AT ABHAAS guys!! He’s the same age if not younger, and he’s way ahead of her and most others. Only Toshi can compare with Abhaas, and to some extend Irfaan. No one else.
I hope Toshi and Abhaas are brought back into this show, I used to watch it for these two guys and Irfaan. Harshit, though singing well most times, doesn’t show any capability of a *great* singer.

Well said Smart Guy and Asma. I’m glad u support Abhilasha the way I do. Smart Guy, u r on the dot about about why folks are bad mouthing Abhilasha but why they should take it out on the poor girl when it is the “junta” who is checking out their favourites, I haven’t a clue.
Anyway, VOI is only a stride in the right direction. She has much more to look forward to in a very bright future and I wish her well every step of the way.

Finally…Toshi and Priyani both chosen for the wildcard entry..I seriously hope both return, they were thrown out way too early before some average singers, so it would be nice to see some real talent on the stage, and to give them competition.
Its nice that there is some comp in the show, its better for the public, now they will be giving their best preformances and wont be stopping in the middle of songs and making excuses, and hopefully no more drama…
Im glad that they are doing the wildcard entry, but not so late in the show, its just a little unfair on Abhilasha, shes always in the bottom, which now means that public will wanna see more of the wildcard ones and maybe vote her out, so I guess thats maybe why she made that comment, and its fair, in the same position anyone would feel the threat if Priyani and or Toshi were coming back.
Cast ur minds back to a episode when Lalit mentions that Priyani has passed Abhlisha in “sur” ..I dont know if that was a fair comment as I have no musical background, but from then onwards Abhilashas preformances slipped, and as Priyani left, her preformances have picked up..(my opinion)..so I guess competition may have something to do it with…but then I guess if u are a good, talented singer, youd preform good all the time, no pressure would matter and youd give 100% in every preformance, no stoppin between songs, no forgetting lines, no sore throat..e.g, Toshi missed the music in his wild card entry, he picked the song up so good that no one even commented on that aspect of it…
Show is a drama, but Im just glad that my 2 favorites are getting another chance that I feel they deserve!!

Dear Ateeq,
I hope you have also read my posts in which I specifically requested everybody not to malign anybody (especially female participants) regarding character. I am sure you did not miss it. Female participants include all female participants be it Abhilasha, Mirande, Sumitra or anybody. Moreover, apart from me many more people have already voiced their concern for using such words for Abhilasha and Mirande. Read carefully and you will find them all.
Your logic that since others have maligned someone so you should also have the right to abuse someone’s character is really admirable. Hats off to you.
And lastly thanks for pointing out that those who write for someone are being paid by them. Really great!!
I sometimes wonder those who are writing for Toshi and Priyani must have become a millionare by now, if I go by the same logic.
Nice Post.

Abhilasha will be having high fever and high temperature knowing that talented people like Toshi, Abhas or Priyani might be coming back. She is very concerned (Dal mein Kaala and Naanch na jaane aangan tedha) knowing that she might well be on her way out. Why Abhilasha lacks a backbone and character and why she lacks integrity is because she knows her limits and hence she is very very scared of competition. Hypocrisy is when you use a chance for yourself but criticise others when then get their chance – that is Abhilasha, a hypocrite. People keep posting that she is just 17 and we should take that into consideration, well then to those people I say, let her participate in under 18s. An athlete cannot demand special treatment in an adult competition if she is under 18, she should simply participate in under 18s. Abhas is 17 but has never used pity and sympathy to stay in the competition. He stayed in the competition based on talent and gave a tough fight even to Toshi. Abhilasha clearly lacks this integrity of character and will rather look for shortcuts to success. Hence she should go, get older and better trained and then come back, until then, she better start packing her luggage as either Toshi or Priyani or Abhas is coming back. Bye bye to incompetance and hyprocrisy and welcome to talent and integrity.

By rishi on Sep 28, 2007 | Reply
Dear John
It is certain that Sumitra is eliminated. I have connections in Star Plus and shooting took place on monday (telecast friday).
Sumitra was also considered for the wild card round and was given some song for practice. She (reportedly) was not given any music assistance by the orchesta saying that they do not have the track of that song. She had to sing without music in the wild card round.. and after that she has (reportedly) walked out in protest for non-cooperation by orchestra people.

After reading your reply, I feel extremely disappointed with the way the way this show has been managed. Something like this will not happen in professionally managed showed, even in shows like Americal Idol. I really have no respect left for Gajendra Singh. The show is real chaos. I am not particularly fond of Sumitra, but am seriously disappointed in Gajendra Singh. I had huge respect for that man while he ran Sa Re Ga Ma. But he has also been drawn in by this craze of public voting. I am not in India and do not have Star Plus on my cable connection yet, but my mother who watches all these shows routinely in India tells me that all these shows have been dramatised even Sa Re Ga Ma and Indian Idol. Initially when I started watching SVOI, I was so happy to see the quality of the judges and quality of singers and especially when Jagjit Singh made that comment which resonated with my own judgement that amongst these three shows, SVOI is the best. But the show has just slipped in quality drastically. IT really doesnt matter anymore who wins as it will just be like a lottery ticket – lotto – take a pick and its quite possible that someone like Ishmeet may also win. My luck that I did not waste money on taking Star Plus, I would definitely have regretted this decision. Indian shows cannot do without drama – I think Gajendra Singh has been rubbed off against Ekta Kapoor

I think Gajendra Singh has RGVd and is further RGVing rapidly!!!!
)
(For those who do not know,”to be RGVd “is a new verb in the English language and it means : “a person or persons, who hitherto creative has slipped into utter mediocrity and repetition and crassness because that person/s has fallen in love with his or her own work”, the verb RGVd is named in honour of a great “creative” director who gave us Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag
Recovery is well nigh impossible, till a loooong sabbatical is taken.

This is the first time I am posting a comment. I am not in India but I do watch Starvoi on the internet – I have a fair question – I am not supporting any candidate here – Why did the orchestra not support sumithra on her wildcard entry song?? If they have no tracks they can still create a track for her (They are talented musicians and have a music director to back them.. dont they??)
This show is a high drama and less of quality now… for example the judges who judged wildcard entry round were not fighting like our great five (esp : the pandit brothers and Mr Aadesh do..) I lost all the respect that I always carried for these musicians… What a disgrace to represent our music and country on an internationally broadcasted show.
As far as the participants are concerned – I think the thrill of watching this show after all this nautanki will make it really worse. I am holding back from commenting on any singer (participants) here because that sanctity is lost.
By Forum on Sep 28, 2007 | Reply
Hi all, i know this wild card entry is really confusing. i think even judges are so confused within themselves and they do not favor the right contestant. Alka Yagnik, being Gujarati never supported Mirande but Abhilasha who is not a Gujarati was supported. Mirande was never ever supported as other contestants either by the judges or by the guests. I think its all about politics and money and name. From my point of view its judges who make the decision and they dont count the votes. No one cares about the voting system. Its all BS.

I personally think Ishmeet lacks in talent, but give the guy a break…he was put there with those judges points right..so why put him there in the first place and if they would judge fairly then none of this bullshit would happen… This sort of crap makes you think that Pritivi want Abhilasha to win and Agni of course their nephew Harshit, its so frustrating to see good talent put to waste to satisify ones ego..
What also pisses me off is, no one mentioned anything abt 4 ppl been picked and Jatin having anything to do with the judging, so If the judges picked the best 4 frm the wildcard round, who I think picked the right 4, then why is Jatin letting his personal best wonderboy Abhas in…!!! UNFAIR, they should have just let the public decide , why hurt Mirande and Prantikas feelings…

The entire contest now has taken a very different turn. It now lacks the professionalism with which earlier episodes and specially judging pattern was conducted.
I just see no reason why and how abhilasha can continue to be among the winning lot with her lack of singing skill. she JUST DOESN’T DESERVE TO BE WHERE SHE IS NOW!!
my personal view is that the whole contest now appears to be COMPLETED RIGGED! AND IT IS SUCH A PITY THAT WE ARE ALL WASTING OUR VALUABLE TIME AND MONEY TO SUPPORT SOME FEW PEOPLE’S EGO!
Toshi is very good and he should eventually be the ASVOI.

Yes I agree with Vivek, Just look at the best singers Toshi, Irfan and Abhas + Priyani in female singers Priyani is very good, and leave the other singers they will/should get eliminated, don’t waste ur money on Abhilasha, Panwala Harshit, the sardar and others they only knows how to get sympathy votes(Because our Indian public gets emotional very easily), If u have seen yesterday’s show Abhilasha singing was worst and panwala was as always not good as pointed out by the guests if u listen to yesterday’s recording of Panwala u will agree that he is not fit for singing, he is there only with the help of Agni Judges, Just imagine he forgot the songs 3 or 4 times and he got the highest votes for that show(Something is fishy). Dear Sujatha,
Just because you like Abhilasha, dont ask me to not point out her faults and failings. This is not a communist website. It is democracy and if I dont like someone I will speak about it openly with the level of vigour I feel necessary, as long as I dont use foul language. If I feel Abhilasha lacks strength of character and integrity, I will say so. So either you will need to learn to deal with it or ask the site moderator to block my comments, in which case I will go to one of the other websites and express my views. Right now I dont really care who wins, because this competition is totally messed up, but in this mess you can tell who has good character and who isnt. Abhilasha has shown her inner self and her lack of talent through her behaviour and comments. Thanks Sanju303 for pointing out Abhilasha’s flaws.

well said John Galt. I agree too, as long as we are not using foul language we have every right to critically speak about any participant. People who like Abhilasha can simply ignore our comments or read them and counter argue about it, no one’s stopping them from doing that. I agree with you that asking us to “edit” our comments so that Abhilasha’s lack of talent and lack of integrity is not exposed is like living in China.
By sujatha on Sep 29, 2007 | Reply
I totally agree with u that India is a free country and we are entitled to express our opinions freely. Where quality of singing goes, each person has a different favourite and can certainly express his/her views.
But, if WE have the right to express ourselves, so do the participants of VOI. So where do we get off calling someone a hypocrite or characterless simply beacause we do not agree with their opinion?
As per the dictionary, a hypocrite is “a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.”. In other words, he is a person who says something which he believes people will approve of but feels or believes something else altogether.
So how does that make this girl a “hypocrite”? In fact, the word would better fit someone who says “Oh yes, the wild card thing is a good idea” simply beacause it is politically correct to say so and mentally curses the change in rules.
Abhilasha she was certainly not responsible for the elimination of other participants nor is her opinion going to stop Gajji from having them brought back in. She was asked for her opinion and expressed her feelings quite openly. So what’s wrong with that?
Also, she was not the only one who objected to the “wild card entry” So did Harshit. How come nobody has anything to say about that?
I think its not the participants we should be pulling up. It is the organisers and the judges who manipulate things. Look at what Abhijeet had to say about Ishmeet, who is normally his favourite “Punjab ka putthar”

She is immature thats wht i say but as shankar and group said , she might not be VOI , but she will definitely going to be one of the good singers industry will have.i think i m being biased complementing her but, cant help she is good singer.
my top 3
Irfan , Toshi , Abhilasha / Priyani
One last thing do give votes on merit not your personal favorites

Guys… I did not take any comments here in person then why others are taking it personal. I have not seen any comment here defending Sumitra, but yes, I have seen comments defending Abhilasha’s immature nature. Abhilasha is adolescent right now because she has the quality that needs to be polished, where as Sumitra is a grown-up contestant in this show. If you people are free to comment on relationship between Lalit-Harshit, Alka – Ahilasha Jatin – Abhas & Abhijeet – Toshi/Irfan, then why not Adesh – Sumitra? Why gender is the slab here, describing judge’s unfairness with other participants?
By John Galt on Sep 29, 2007 | Reply
Dear Sujatha,
if you look up Websters the word hypocrite is defined as ” a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings”. When Abhilasha got three unfair chances for herself, she took those without any wrinkles on her face – why because it was herself, while she is now expressing her disquiet about the eliminated participants getting a second chance. SO she has one set of rules for herself an one for others which means either she believes in something but acts in contradiction and that she lacks integrity and she tries to attract people’s pity and sympathy by putting on “Iam so young, I am so poor thing, please love me” image. So all in all she knows she does not have a fully developed talent, yet she wants to win VOI so she knows her only option is to use these kind of underhand tactics and machinations. Now I really prefer Sumitra over her, at least Sumitra is mature and has strength of character and integrity.
By John Galt on Sep 29, 2007 | Reply
…and yes regarding Harshit, I used to like him until he made that comment. Look at Sumitra, she was wanting Toshi back, because she knows he is the best and did not deserve to be eliminated. This showed she stands for fairness and justice .Also she has a versatile talent. i was not very fond of her at the begining, but the person who is willing to acknowledge and invite a deserving candidate surely takes courage and strength of character and integrity. After seeing this, I feel Sumitra is much much more matured, honest and straightforward candidate than people like Abhilasha, although its quite possible that the wrong people (abhilasha) win in this rigged competition.

hi everybody
how many of you think that the format of the program to divide the judges into two groups is wrong? What everybody wants is honesty and non-biased decisions when it comes to judging contestants. However, this has not happened on the sets of VOI. As far as planning goes, thats totally a failure as Gajendra Singh has totally lost it and doesnt know what to do. First 4 voices were to be called back after Chakravat. Then they included Sumitra which is still fair. But then Abhaas was also called back, some vito power. I wish Abhaas wins but hey, this is too much. I hope something odd and stupid again happens and public votes for abhilasha or ishmeet and they win. Atleast these channels will plan and not do this stupidity in the future. I really respect what Mr Khayyam said and the public voting has to stop and musical contests should not be a source for making money but promoting talent.
By sujatha on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Hi John
My counter-argument this time is less about Abhlasha and more about whether the objection made by a candidate to a change in format is right or wrong.
Just tell me something: if in a game of cricket or tennis, the umpire or referee makes a wrong call in favour of somebody, will that somebody say “Hey, u are not being fair to my opponent. That was a wrong call.” No, of course he won’t. However, when a wrong call (or one which he believes is wrong) is given against him, he will definitely raise an objection.
Does that make him a person with no integrity or character? As someone else, in an earlier post said, everyone wants to take care of his own interests before helping out others. Hey, we get very few breaks in this life amd have to make the most of them
Now, as far as Abhilasha’s skill goes, I have already mentioned in an earlier post that she has still not reached VOI potential though she has the essential raw material: a wonderful voice and a feel for whatever she sings which belies her age.
Everyone in a ahow like this, where public voting determines who stays and who doesn’t (and the public do have a tendancy to vote for their favourites beacause of reasons other than capacity)will be wondering “Oh my God! Am I going to be eliminated today?”. And they are certainly relieved when it is somebody else other than themselves. Most of them, however, do not reveal these feelings. In Abhilasha’s case, she still has not learnt to conceal her feelings and her relief is palpable when she slips through from the Chakravaat.
I still believe that the show and the contestants are being manipulated by organisers and judges, the final objective being “making more money and getting ratings” and not finding the “Voice of India”. In fact, there is a script and a lot of “nautanki” on their part, with them arguing all the time and blaming the “janta” whenever a person is eliominated.
Abhilashs and all the others have a long way to go in life’s struggle to make it big as playbak singers. Winning this contest may not even help.
So DO give them a break and wish them well, won’t u?
By sujatha on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Oh, and I really think Abhaas did a wonderful job with “Sathyam, Shivam, Sundaram”. He should have sund this song during the wild card show. The Judges would certainly have brought him back. He didn’t do such a great job with “Ek chatur naar”.
By Ateeq on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Hi Sujhatha, I think the experience of judges does not need any specific song to judge singers capability. Its how singer sings any song. When you talk about abhas, he is a good singer but 4 highly experienced judges should have some valid reason for not choosing him for final 4.
At this point of time, VOI judges have used their veto power because Abhas is Jatin’s much loved singer. I’m really displeased with the judging standards of this show now because there is too much of nepotism. I wonder what going to happen when 2 wild card entries will start performing and if that 2 are not favorite of any judge; they’ll throw them out of the show again. GOD blesses all participants.
By sujatha on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Hi Ateeq
I agree with u in part that there are a lot of crtiria like sur, taal, modulation, pronunciation, feel for the song etc based on which experienced judges decide who is good.
But I also think that there is one more thing that makes people decide whether someone is good ie the way the singer presents the song. There are some who present it so well that the song touches your heart.
This factor becomes important especially when the judges hear you only once and have to decide based on that once if u r good. That is why i said that the choice of song is very important. You need to choose something that u present well rather than something too complicated which does not come out well.
You have to admit that all the wild card contendors meet the criteria i mentioned earlier, hence presentation makes the difference

Dear Sujatha,
Thanks for using the cricket example. I agree with you that in cricket or any other competitve sports, nobody is going to argue with the umpire if their opponent has being unfairly treated, but you have people like Sachin Tendulkar who will walk away from the crease if he knows that he has knicked the ball which get caught by the slip or wicketkeeper. He doesnt wait for the umpire to say out or otherwise. Remember we are choosing the best and there is no reason to settle for someone mediocre. If you heard today’s Abhilasha’s performace that was pathetic as she is probably thinking that she is everyone’s favourite and she can relax. To be frank with you, I was very angry with Abhijeet when he made some unfounded comments about Abhilasha in an episode (i think it was jagjit singh episode). But she has consistently exploited the “bechaari” factor and manipulating the judges, who in turn are manipulating contestants. The problem with Abhilasha is she has a long long way to go and currently does not deserve a place in top 4. The problem is she has one set of standards for herself but disagrees if someone else gets the same standards or same chance. That’s a sign of someone who lacks self confidence and who knows the limits of her talent and also a sign of someone who lacks integrity. We dont want dodgy charactered singer to be VOI. Look at Abhas, he is the youngest, yet he has never shown this behaviour, he has never made a pitiful face (IN WHICH ABHILASHA HAS ACHIEVED PERFECTION). In your example of no-one speaking for an opponent is not strong because firstly this is not a game of cricket (which is purely won on talent and not on public voting – hence in cricket you cannot make yourself look pitiful and young and hope to win). Secondly, in Abhilasha’s episode, I am not saying that she should have gone to the judges and asked them to review their decision of eliminating Toshi and others. All that exposed her lack of integrity is when she was asked what she thinks about giving these deserving candidates a second chance she said it was unfair. IT would have been perfectly fine her saying it had she herself not recieved 3 chances. But having recieved 3 chances and 10 marks from Agni when she forgot the song, she has the nerve of saying its unfair others are getting a second chance. This is DEFINITELY a sign of someone who has limited developed talent and who knows the only way she can win VOI is either by playing “Iam the poor thing, Look at my face, I am so innocent” card or by hoping that the best in the competition are accidently eliminated. Only when tigers become extinct, hyenas and jackals will be winners, until then both jackal and hyena know that they will have to scavange. Abhilasha has not been consistent, has recieved more than her fair share of chances, has gone too far in this competition than she deserves (and may actually “win” this competition)and is hypocritical, but well the game is a lottery and she might win it, except it will be extremely shameful if she does, shameful on the sanctity of music.
By Ateeq on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Very truly said. First impression is the last impression, and Sumitra actually used this phrase in real life! When you talk about all wild card contenders meets criteria, then I think some don’t and you know who are the ones.
Let’s not discuss them at this point of time as it may rage a spark in a situation where Abhijeet is already under heavy fire for criticizing Ishmeet just because Adesh pumped him up, and secondly Wild Card entries are more important at this point of time.
By Ateeq on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
I think instead of hating Abhilasha for her hypocrisy, you should blame Alka Yagnik who is in power and is promoting this young girl. It was the first episode when she won everybody’s heart. She still is an immature girl and needs heel lot of teaching to get it right.
When we talk about Toshi, he is a ready made singer and should have made allot of mistakes in his childhood. I think if Abhilasha gets benefit of doubt, she might become a great singer.
By John Galt on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
agree with you Ateeq. The judges are equally bad. I used to love Jatin Lalit (they used to remind me or RD’s style, not that they are anywhere closer to his level). Aadesh is a nobody and I really used to like Alka Yagnik and Abheejeet. They perhaps took this show to increase their own public rating and popularity. But thankfully this show has exposed their own behaviour. I think all of the 4 judges are extremely unprofessional and so is Gajendra Singh. But they are all messed up. Gajendra has given the judges too much of freedom, the judges in turn have grossly abused that freedom, participants (some like Abhilasha) have exploited the confusion and all this has become a motley melodrama. I hated the episode of parents coming over and everyone crying, other episodes when judges keep getting up from their bench and hugging participants for mediocre performances, giving 10 marks when someone forgot a song, using foul language (aadesh and abhijeet), overindulgence in participants, partiality etc. The list is endless. THis show is the worst managed show and if you now call Jagjit Singh back he will severly criticise this show. I think Ekta Kapoor might have produced it – something like Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. It is a mockery of music and only shows the unprofessionalism of highly placed privileged Indians. If a foreigner were to watch this show, he/ she will laugh at the sheer mismanagement and chaos that has befallen this show. Even the last season of American Idol was better (although it had its own controversies, Sanjaya reminded me very much of Abhilasha)

Guys Relax chill out. First of all some one in comment quoted that sachin walks out if he thinks he knicked , i never seen it but i respect what that person said and let me tell you my point of view if it counts,
every one in cricket is not sachin and every one in cricket is not bad either so it means every one has his/her own opinion , like you all people here.If abhilasha said wild card round shouldnt happen ,does it make her evil, rotten hmmm ? and wht if some one passes bad opinion about abhilasha here ,does it mean he/she is worst character one can know?.well i dont think whtever we are discussing is logically correct.
My point as i had put before that , dont favour the singer you like , and show sportsmanship , and take VOI as a one-day game , even if sardar performs well, you should give him more votes than any one else , if the singers dont touch your heart and you are still voting for them ,then i think…blah blah blah , you people here are wise , i hope you know what i mean!!!
By John Galt on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply
Dear Addicted,
It doesnt make Abhilasha evil if she said wild card round is bad. Yes, but it does make her a hypocrite if she uses 3 chances for herself but does a cry baby when others get a second chance. That’s what is bad and dodgy. As far as the show goes, its not even a one-day game, its not even unpredictable 20-20. Its a lottery game, but like the show Survivor, this game brings out the best or the worst in people like it brought out the worst in Abhilasha. I doubt that the voting software is also screwed up. In other standard voting systems, each mobile number or each email id can only vote upto 5-7 times, this is to maintain fairness. I dont even think Gajendra has paid sufficient attention to this. That’s why people like Abhilasha and Ishmeet are still hanging around.
By kvniranjan8 on Oct 1, 2007 | Reply
I don’t think any human being can withstand the amount of bashing which Abhilasha is getting for no fault of hers. After all, the public kept her in and voted out the others.
ABHILASHA is an angel. Now the strongest competition is there (after the wild card entry). Now Abhilasha will move into top gear and show us her full merit and when she wins the VOI no one will dare to raise his or her voice against her.
By John Galt on Oct 1, 2007 | Reply
….or to be more accurate, no one will be allowed to raise voice against her, because a lot of people including some judges feel pity and sympathy for her. “Bechaari Abhilasha”. Very few people think that to associate “bechaari or bechaara” against their name is the worst insult to their integrity and talent. Abhilasha is not one amongst them, she is quite glad to be called behcaari and poor thing, these kind of people usually “rise up” quickly. History is filled with examples where underserving people rule, if Abhilasha wins the competition its no surprise. (If you keep Karna out of competition, of course Arjun will win, if you cut eklavya’s finger, of course Arjun will win. Its a different issue that Abhilasha is not even closer to Arjun). Just as Draunacharya went to extreme lengths to ensure his pet Arjun stays the best archer (by eliminating competition not by improving Arjun’s talent) so also is Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet going to extreme lengths to ensure Abhilasha wins. Abhilasha may “win” this so called competition, but she is not the best and she is no where near the best. She will win only because this competition is lottery, not because its a real competitve process, but because it is rigged and polluted by favouritism and controversy.

Dear John ji and Niranjan ji,
I admit all the 12 singers are very good. But then, in the last only one will be VOI and 11 have to be eliminated. Some sooner, some later.
It is all a drama to generate more money through SMSs. Again, this bashing of Ishmeet by Abhijeet is a drama. Having done so Abhijeet has ensured a Tsunami of SMSs for Ishmeet.
Niranjan ji, no one has criticised Abhilasha so far on the stage. People are criticising her only on blogs. So saying that she is under tremendous pressure because of this is somewhat stretching things so far. I am sure she is not even reading these messages.
The reality of VOI (as per my brother in Production wing of Star Plus) is as follows:
1) Toshi’s popularity is only being used to ensure more and more SMSs pour in. He is the best singer everyone knows. To keep him in the competition is in the interest of VOI producers, the channel, and Cellular service providers.
2) The wild card round was shot on monday afternoon. But after five participants sang (Prantik, Toshi, Priyani, Abhas and Arshpreet), Sanjay Leela Bhansali had to go supposedly for some work. May be he was more interested to see the India-Pakistan 20-20 finals which was to start at 5:30 PM. He left without hearing Sumitra.
3) Sumitra was given this song (Bahon ke damrmyaan do pyaar mil rahe hain) originally sung by Alka and composed by Jatin-Lalit. For practice, she needed the orchestra which was not given to her. She initially had walked out in protest that orchestra people are not giving her time to practice on the pretext that they do not have the track of this song. I am surprised when Jatin – Lalit (the original composers) and Alka (original singer) were there was it difficult for them to recreate the track with the help of talented orchestra people?
6) The song which Sumitra sang was shot on wednesday.
5) Later on, the directors of the programme deleted those comments of Sumitra and made her to say that she could not practice and Orchestra ke saath jam nahi raha tha gaana. Did they focus on the empty seats of Orchestra People while Sumitra sang on Wednesday?
I am writing this for people to realise this that it is all pre-planned.
I am also writing this after the voting has stopped because otherwise the people would criticise me saying that this is a ploy to garner more votes for Sumitra.

Why all these judges except Adesh supporting Abhilasha and Harshit. Or Gajendra Ji had already in his mind about a Harshit / Abhilasha Mega final. Anyway all other singers are much much better than Abhilash and Harshit. Is there anything tricky going on here….
After 8 times in chakrabath Abilasha doesn’t deserve a chance. Is there is something tricky to eliminate other participants.. Is anybody knows what exactly votes the participants get? Any way I lost interest in this program after Priyani, Arshpreet, Toshi, Sumitra and Abhas out…
Sumitra well said that you are not interested in the wild card system… Good luck to you strong girl.. You sing 10000 times better than Alkaji’s laadla Abhilasha… God bless you Sumitra….

Dear John
I don’t seem to have drawn the right parallels when I was talking about cricket and tennis. Let me try to clarify them
If the umpire awards a “no ball” or a “wide” to your team when u are batting and the ball was not actually one, do u think u r going to question him? U will take the extra chance to try and score some more runs using the extra balls.
Likewise, if he awards a wrong “lbw” to a player of the opposing team, who is playing extremely well, when your team is bowling, u r again not going to object.
This is what happened in VOI when Abhilasha was allowed to sing “saawariya” again. She took the chance given to her.
Getting back to my example of cricket, if u r declared “out” when u actually are not, u r forced to go out whether u like it or not. That’s what happened with her in the Mahesh Butt epsisode. The Agni judges protested that she had already got a chance before and that the other participants objected, so she was not allowed to sing. She withdrew. And u know what, the public still kept her on. She didn’t force them to.
In my cricket example, supposing u had won the match and a commentator were to ask u whether the match should be played again as the player had been unfairly declared out and that was why your team managed to salvage the match, would u agree? I doubt it. Since all this is hypothetical, u would be tempted to say, I am sure u would say “Of course, I would!” But it doesn’t work that way in real life, as I am sure u r aware. Everyone has double standards, whether u like it or not.
As for the “bechaari” factor, I have nothing against Toshi. He’s a good singer but did he really have to go down on his knees and plead with the “janta” to vote him back in because he did not want to go back to the “gandagi” from where he came? Does that smack of lack of confidence, limited talent or the “bechaara” factor?
And anyway, how come u agree with Ateeq, and not with me, when HE says the judges are to be blamed and not the participants? I agree with Rishi that it is all pre-planned, so what are we arguing about? I think the participants are subject to as much manipulation as the public is.

Dear John ji and Sujatha ji,
Let me first of all acknowledge the valuable inputs from both of you in this blog. The views of you both are really worth-reading and matured. The only difference between you two is about the favourite singer. Otherwise , you both have been saying the same thing about the contest as rigged.
As far as comments of John ji are concerned, I did not find anything filthy in that. He certainly was not referring to the character in sexual terms. What he was writing was about the general character of a person. However, she is just 17 and John ji! the character building is a continuous process. I too am not the same as I was ten years ago. She might become a finest characered woman in future. Judging a person on this criterion at the age of 17 seems unfair to me.
On the other hand, someone wrote about Sumitra that she is getting support from Adesh as she is giving something in exchange. Here, although he did not write in as many words, but we all understand what he emant to say. I objected to this.
Please visit my two posts on the 29th Sept episode also.
Thanks for keeping your valuable views posted.
Regards to you both!!

But, when someone counters what u have to say and addresses u directly, it is difficult not to reply. As u have said in your post, Abhilasha is only 17 and needs to grow and mature. This is what i have been trying to make John see.

Hi Sujatha, I totally agree with you. In fact, it is the case with me as well. What ever i used to explain here is being explained by someone else in different words and gets appreciation. Apparently my fault (seems to be) is that I don’t write in Sumitra’s favor where as some others like her very much (I mean her singing qualities).
If someone said that Sumitra is getting support from Adesh in exchange, that does not reveal his final intention. This is not fare at all that one supports his / her favorite participant to an extent that he/she should shows level of hypocrisy.
I think this blog should be used to promote talent and not personalism like judges of VOi are doing.

hi friends,
i don’t know why there is so much fuss on elimination. i have already stated that it’s an insult to the people of country. They run the show with the support of those who SMS and then they give us the gyaan that these(read:people who send SMS) people are not capable of judging. then why don’t u change the format. and, for those merotorious contestants, don’t worry as you don’t become a great playback singer overnight. it took sonu nigam more than a decade to become one. the show is a farce and i seriously advice Mr. Gajendra Singh(if he really controls the show) to start directing teleserials. he is good at evoking emotions. and by doing it atleast he may not be hurting the sentiments of his audience.

This is utter flop show, if they want to Toshi or Abbhas to win the show why is this drama
1. 1st of all Abbhas must not be in the wild card round since he was not selected by the 4 judges whom they brought to select 4 of 7 who were voted out.
2. Suddenly this word called veto came to light and they brought in Abhas, suppose Abhas was selected by the 4 judges then they might not be this veto.
3. Now since one of the two Abbhas and Toshi were not in the top two, again the judges came in to finalize the two
If they want only this two they can get them without the public vote and the 4 judges

Got information from other blog, Toshi got the highest and Abhas was next highest followed by Priyavani, but the stupid Agni Judges judges want to have Abhas back at any price. Maybe they will politics again and they will eliminate Toshi. We are saying that Voting is not good let the judges decide, but if the judges decide stupid Agni judges and the neutral saraswati ma ki kasam will make Panwala HarshitVOI, and eliminate others.
