It was a pleasure to see all participants performing in today’s episode and specially Toshi. He has such a great voice and rare talent. Guys… Toshi deserves to reappear in VOI, PLEASE VOTE FOR HIM. I think except for Priyani, all other participants performed very well. Even though she is, a good singer but she should try harder.

As of Abhijeet’s yesterdays unfair comments for Ishmeet. First, I must say that Ishmeet does not deserve a place in final 4 as compared to Toshi and Abhas. Now I think Adesh is in full swing to create another drama and using Abhijeet ultimately. I want to ask Adesh that why didn’t you get any remarks on your inequitable support to Sumitra? Why Ishmeet’s fans are sending you SMSs directly? Why didn’t Lalit have SMS on his unfair comments on Abhilasha and Irfan? Come on, please play some fare games. Monotonous unfair comments by Abhijeet will impinge on his personal repute only.

There were few unexpected incidents in this show so far out of which two are significant. First, when orchestra was unable to play Sumitr’a song and one happened long back when Abhijeet told Vipul (contestant who did not make it to the final 12 because of his age barrier) that he should have sung a song that judges should know very well. I think judges should have recognize the talent based on talent of the participant and not of their memory. Now when the show is reaching its climax, Abhijeet is very unfair in telling Janta that Ishmeet should not have been in final 12. It means they have missed a deserving participant!

    Where is John Galt?

Well, he was finally back at the platform, which was his own to begin with! And he sang, with his usual tremendous command over singing and that gentle tugging at our heart strings, with… “Chithiye…”

But something else happened in today’s episode, something that didnt make for a pretty sight. The way, he, I think for the first time, narrated his struggles, and finally went down on his knees to ask for votes…

What exactly is it which makes such proud men, the John Galts of this world, to break down in front of it? Is it time, fate, or something very sick in us ourselves…

Whatever this platform brings for Toshi, I am quite quite sure that his talent is marked for something big. Just keep up the good work Toshi! You are Awesome!!! And I hope you dont loose even a bit of your courage. It has got you so far… alongwith your talent, it’ll take you still farther…

  4. By John Galt on Sep 29, 2007 | Reply

This is John Galt Speaking! :-) “I swear—by my life and my love of it—that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine”. I dont know if I can call Toshi John Galt yet but he surely deserves a place in Galt’s Gultch. I havent watched the vidoes yet, but I am disappointed that Toshi begged for votes and narrate his struggles. But amongst the Peter Keatings and Gay Francons in this show, Toshi definitely is either John Galt or at least Franciso D’Anconnia/ Hank Rearden.

I have to agree, I love his singing, think he is a awesome singer, but I too was a little put off by the way he asked for his votes…he has class, he oozes of talent he does not need to do that, BUT I guess hes smart too, hes caught onto the game, ki if u show ur struggles and tell ppl that u want votes, ppl will get votes, e. g Harshit, messes up but when dadi is involved he gets top votes, I guess if Toshi comes back, he should bring his dadi, that way he will be VOI for sure..
By the way…I loved his preformance, have not seen the others preform, but this guy is awesome and why was Alka crying..?? is she sad that he might come back and Abhilasha may get elimnated..??

  6. By kvniranjan8 on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Today was a great day for music because the full strength was present on the stage (all the best and worthwhile singers were present). This show also was one to remember for a long time. We were also able to compare all of them and decide in our mind who is suitable to become the VOI.

The VOI is one who is expected to become the top playback singer in the industry. For this, ability to sing different types of songs is necessary, especially romantic love songs both solo and duets and sad songs. The second point is, that the singers voice should suit this. The third point is talent.

Considering all these and seeing this performance there is no doubt that it should be Abhilasha all the way to become the VOI.

  7. By asranik on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Abhilasha doesn’t deserve to be VOI. She shouldn’t even have been amongst top 10. Abhilasha got sympathy votes from the public because Alka likes her, and she portrays herself as innocent one. Did you guys see the comments she gave for the Wild Card entry? That proves her character.

The most deserving one amongst the Wild card entry is Toshi. His voice is awesome. I am sure, once he gets in back again, he will rock the world, and will become VOI.

Another deserving candidate is Ahbas. He is genuinely a good singer. Priyani falls in line after him as well.

Let’s see what happens in tomorrow’s episode!

  8. By Nadia on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Yes, Toshi should be back. And priyani too.
Actually Abhilasha has shown her nasty character by saying the comments on the wild card entry system.
I want to tell to all the people that please vote for TOSHI.
The strange thing is that from morning i am trying to vote on online but there is some problem in the voting page. Ridiculous.
    Is this done intentionally?

This was the worst episode of Star VOI.The judges by their comments proved that they r biased. When they said that ishmeet did not deserve to be in top 12. At that point of time if my memory serves me right their was no public voting and it was entirely upto the judges to decide and now saying that ishmeet was not deserving candidate then who is to blame for that. Abhijeet by his comments showed his charecter . May be Ishmeet is not the best singer but if my memory serves me right he was one of the top scorers and who gave those points i think it was the judges . By using the such biased comments the judges themselves proved whatever was written to them was correct .

these people have been given the job of being the judges. they have to be unbiased and do their job with integrity and sincerety which after yesterday’s episode does not seem to be there. hope they realise their mistake and their is an appology for al that happened .
Rest the thing is the only thing that would do is bring a bad name to them and the show . hope all this is not repeted in the future episodes .

Al the participants are performing really well. My best wishes to all of them .

  10. By Parmeet on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

It was unfair of Abhijeet to say that Ishmeet did not deserve to be in top 12. It was the judges who selected him. In every episode he was calling Ishmeet to stage with great love & affection and suddenly just because someone has sent him an insulting SMS, he has changed his behaviour? It was no fault of Ishmeet. Abhijeet should apologise.

    Hello there?

    (1) Abhijeet Adopts him
    (2) Times of India Interviewed him
    (3) Mahesh Bhatt Signed him
    (4) Adaish Said, “This is what Indian Singing”
    (5) Sanjay Lila Bansali Says, “Once More Plz”
    (6) Alka Shed Tears for Him

What the else in this world you want from him to become VOI? Toshi…………………. We all love you brother.

  12. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

I am quite sure that if Bengalis or Muslims had sent these SMS to Abhijeet, he would hv never dared to raise his voice.Abhijeet targeted Ishmeet only because he was a Sikh. Sikhs hv no standing in the entertainment industry in Mumbai. So they r thoroughly insulted by people whenever a sikh tries to make a mark in entertainment business he has to suffer utmost humiliation like Ishmeet did.Further Gajendra Singh Ji you have lost all respect I once had for you. You have totally ignored Sikh sentiments.Gajendraji please act against Abhijeet before some anti-social elements take advantage of the situationand give your programme VOI a bad name.

Sumitra is the boldest strongest and long lasting of all stars

and rightly so, she got eiiminated because she is made for better shows..she should not waste time pacifying a bunch of biased judges, but spend her energies doing some real work to promote her talent.

VOI started out as a potential platform but is now rigged with bias and inconsistencies.

The eliminated singers would do well to not lose heart and let not their parents and friends lose heart, over the results. It really doesnt matter. VOI is just one of the plenty channels. Its not the most essential win.

Further, this country with one sixth of population also deserves to have one sixth of world’s singers. One VOI is not enough.

So, sumitra, Abhas, Toshi, priyani are all the much needed VOIs. I hope they are not foolish to trust the Start VOI judgement.

  14. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Gajendraji, see the Gurkha crisis after a RJ made some comments against Indian Idol winner on Radio. Whereas Ishmeet was insulted in front of the whole nation of TV by a senseless, inhuman person like Abhijeet. Sikhs must be complimented for keeping calm after seeing such humiliation of their boy. Atleast they dint take to rioting like Gurkhas. Further i must clarify that Abhijeet’s comments directly pointed against sikhs. He said “kahon apne bhaiyon ko”. Sikhs r only Ishmeet’s brothers not his. Such a narrow-minded, communal, senseless person has no business to be a judge on this show.

  15. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Gajendraji, Please dont let secularism die in this country. Take action against Abhijeet. He should publicly apologise to innocent Ishmeet and he should take back his words. It is very important to restore confidence back in this young & innocent boy Ishmeet.

  16. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

All participants sing very well in this programme and so does Ishmeet. In the independence day programme, he sang the song “Sandese Aate hain” so well even better than original singer Roop Kumar Rathod.Mahesh Bhatt was so impressed by his singing abilities that he said Ishmeet has sung the Murder Movie song better than Kunal Ganjawala. I dont understand why judges r putting him down. I think his only fault is that he is a sikh. If bengalis can vote for bengali, gurkas for gurkha, muslims for a muslim contestant, then whats wrong if Ishmeet gets votes frm native Punjab. He gets lots of votes from other states too. All people r not as narrow- minded as Abhijeet. Ishmeet has got the sweetest voice and rightly deserves to be Voice of India.

  17. By Ateeq on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Hi Jatin, If you talk about religion, then I think you should hold responsible Adesh and Pandit’s for disparaging Toshi and Irfan just for nothing, just because they are Muslim?

I don’t think this is a religious subject and we should start playing with Sikhs sentiments. I’ve already mentioned that this is nothing else but a drama created by Adesh, using Abhijeet ultimately. Everyone knows that Abhijeet is a big mouth and it can be opened very easily, so Adesh is using him just to protect their own favorite singer Harshit. Irfan is also victim of circumstances in this show. I don’t want to write in detail on this religious issue but I personally request all of you to refrain from writing on these kinds of delicate issues.

  18. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

Ateeq, when have Irfan and Toshi been targetted. They have got all praises. No body can dare to insult a Muslim like Ishmeet was insulted. That Abhijeet can never dare to say to Irfan “Kahon apne Bhaiyon se” like he said to Ishmeet. Ishmeet was insulted because he belongs to a small minority. No body can dare to mess with muslim guys as they have a very large support- both political & religous.

    hi…..
yesterdays performance of the eliminated singers rocked.abhaas and ashpreet were fantastic.so was toshi, tho i wish he hadnt begged for votes.his is a voice which shd automatically b voted in.surprisingly, priyani was not upto the mark, the high notes jarred a bit.it was a difficult song, tho.there r too many good singers, its gonna b tough to select just two.
it will b sad….bcoz toshi, abhaas, priyani and ashpreet deserve to b in.are we gonna have another wild card entry after only 2 singers get in.it would b too funny.
i just wish they dump the whole load of judges.,and get a good set with unbiased views.
the programme sucks, bcoz of these judges making stupid remarks.thank god, most of the singers sing pretty well.
the person u feel most sorry for in this programme is SHAAN. this poor guy looks lostand meanders around wondering whats happening around him.
lets only hope they change the panel of judges soon.

Toshi is being hyped too much. We can get a dime a dozen like him – check Vinit, Raja etc. from other and previous shows. The females are getting unfairly targeted which is an epidemic in Indian Society.

Arshpreet or Sumithra deserves to be VOI. Vote out Toshi.Ishmeet is the weakest. Ablisha is inconsistent.

    Go ARSHPREET and SUMITRA!!!

I wish Sumitra should have been there for the end and won the title. I used to wait for her mesmerizing songs and now feel there is nothing special in the show. I strongly feel that there should be two voices respectively for male and the female sections. Judges got nothing much to do in the show but to create some confusion and tension. Neither their comments nor marks made any after shock on the results. They should gracefully walk

Guys,Please do not make it a religion issue.Please..This is art..For God sake..All the judges are super nice but they have to tell an apple an “APPLE”.Sometimes they do over-react but they love the contestants more than we do.Ishmeet is definitely a good singer but he needs some training to become more versatile.ABHAS and HARSHIT are most versatile singer this show has.I love Toshi,I littrelly cried when Toshi was eliminated and was upset for the whole weekend after ABHAS’s exit.Let’s get ourselves above religion and do not vote someone just because he belongs to your religion.Let the best guy win so that we have faith in these talent hunt programs.

  24. By jatin on Sep 30, 2007 | Reply

    Hi Vinitz,

People supporting Ishmeet r not making religion a issue. They wont mind even if Ishmeet is eliminated. But the way Abhijeet targetted Ishmeet because some ppl frm Punjab sent him SMS is unpardonable. It was Abhijeet who made the whole issue communal. Ishmeet could hv been told decently that he is not a very good singer, but Abhijeet targetted him totally on account of his religion. His words were”Kaho apne bhaiyon se”. Now how communal he can get. Ishmeet’s supporters very well know that his run in VOi is as good as over. But innocent Ishmeet desrves a decent exit like other contestants. He is much better singer than Prantik, Prantika & Abhilasha whom Abhijeet supports like anything.Abhijeet must be arrested by Police for disturbing communal harmony and insulting a person because of his religion.

I have been watching SVOI regularly and am a bit confused about the whole process to include wild card participants and voting process all over again.

I feel the best way forward now would be to have the judges decide on the winners but since the public has to be involved in the process as well, the organizers of the show should have the public vote for the judges (5 in number) to be included in the panel. This would have the judges asking for public votes and coming in “Chakravad” or ” Sure aprticipant” category and when the final decisions are made, then the show can continue with the actual selection process for the SVOI winner!

Naturally, the organizers would have to contact 10-12 possible judge category participants and then shortlist them to 5 for the final decision panel.

Plz, plz, plz, guys dont bring in the relegion issue in this. Ishmeet might have hindu punjabi bhais as well, it could be anyone who might have send the sms. Please ignore the comments made by Jatin in this blog. I am a punjabi myself, but this is definitely not accpeted from people like Jatin.

    HI ALL

I STRONGLY AGREE THAT ISHMEET DOESNT DESERVE A PLACE AHEAD OF ABBHAS AND TOSHI.

    BUT BUT ……

IT WAS INDIA WHO VOTED FOR HIM – WHEN THE RULES OF THE GAME SAY THAT THE PERSON WITH HIGHEST VOTE REMAIN THEN WHY THIS FUSS ON ISHMEET. IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE WRONG NOT ISHMEET. THIS MAN ABHIJEET HAS LOST ALL HIS RESPECT NOW. ONE SHOULD ASK THIS SHIT WHY HE DIDNT SPEAK OF THIS WHEN ISHMEET ENTERED TOP 12.BLOODY HELL IF I WAS ISHMEET I WOULD HAVE WALKED OUT.ABHIJEET PROVED HE IS BANGALI INTO INDIAN.HE DISCRIMINATED ISHMEET INTENTIONALLY IN FRONT OF 100 MILLION PEOPLE. THIS IS HIGHLY PUNISHABLE. I AM SITTING ABROAD AND FEELING SORRY FOR THIS GUY.AGAIN I DONT FEEL HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE IN TOP 4 BUT THATS THE WAY IT IS.MAJORITY WINS AND THATS WHY ISHMEET IS THERE.

I WOULD HAVE STRAIGHTAWAY TAKEN THIS CRAP ABHIJEET INTO COURT FOR MAKING COMMUNAL REMARKS.

MY SUGGESTION FOR ISHMEET IS TO WALK OUT.NOT JUST WALK OUT ….JUST TELL PEOPLE IN THE NEXT EPISODE THAT YOU WONT BE PERFORMING AND WHY YOU WONT BE PERFORMING.

ABHIJEET – JUST GET LOST. YOU SUCK MAN…..YOU SAID SANGEET HAS NO CASTE, NO RELIGION …..DAMNIT ! LEARN TO RESPECT A HUMAN BEING FIRST.

And Gajendra jee, you playing this communal thing very good haan? In the age of internet where there are thousands of junk and dirty messages floating around, you picked one or two sms sent to someone and made a issue out of it? Very good, shabaash, good TRP strategy and drama with controversy.

I hope Ishmeet show up in the finals or even becomes the SVOI. People go with the copy cats and Ishmeet is the best copy of all popular playback singers (remember how he sang with Alka?)

After 8 times in chakrabath Abilasha doesn’t deserve a chance. Is there is something tricky to eliminate other participants.. Is anybody knows what exactly votes the participants get? Any way I lost interest in this program after Sumitra and Abhas out…

Sumitra well said that you are not interested in the wild card system… Good luck to you strong girl.. Your voice is 10000 times better than Alkaji’s laadla Abhilasha… God bless you Sumitra….

Dear Jonhn ji and Niranjan ji,

I admit all the 12 singers are very good. But then, in the last only one will be VOI and 11 have to be eliminated. Some sooner, some later.

It is all a drama to generate more money through SMSs. Again, this bashing of Ishmeet by Abhijeet is a drama. Having done so Abhijeet has ensured a Tsunami of SMSs for Ishmeet.

Niranjan ji, no one has criticised Abhilasha so far on the stage. People are criticising her only on blogs. So saying that she is under tremendous pressure because of this is somewhat stretching things so far. I am sure she is not even reading these messages.

The reality of VOI (as per my brother in Production wing of Star Plus) is as follows:

    1) Toshi’s popularity is only being used to ensure more and more SMSs pour in. He is the best singer everyone knows. To keep him in the competition is in the interest of VOI producers, the channel, and Cellular service providers.

    2) The wild card round was shot on monday afternoon. But after five participants sang (Prantik, Toshi, Priyani, Abhas and Arshpreet), Sanjay Leela Bhansali had to go supposedly for some work. May be he was more interested to see the India-Pakistan 20-20 finals which was to start at 5:30 PM. He left without hearing Sumitra.

    3) Sumitra was given this song (Bahon ke damrmyaan do pyaar mil rahe hain) originally sung by Alka and composed by Jatin-Lalit. For practice, she needed the orchestra which was not given to her. She initially had walked out in protest that orchestra people are not giving her time to practice on the pretext that they do not have the track of this song. I am surprised when Jatin – Lalit (the original composers) and Alka (original singer) were there was it difficult for them to recreate the track with the help of talented orchestra people?

    6) The song which Sumitra sang was shot on wednesday.

    5) Later on, the directors of the programme deleted those comments of Sumitra and made her to say that she could not practice and Orchestra ke saath jam nahi raha tha gaana. Did they focus on the empty seats of Orchestra People while Sumitra sang on Wednesday?

I am writing this for people to realise this that it is all pre-planned.

I am also writing this after the voting has stopped because otherwise the people would criticise me saying that this is a ploy to garner more votes for Sumitra.

Buddy you have used very beautiful expression and put in your point very well. Congrats for that. India needs right thinking ppl like you.
Meanwhile Imran just check out the show on 28th sep. After ishmeet the 1st performer finishes his song,Abhijeet lashes out at him ” Kaho Apne bhaiyon se’ with pure hatred & disgust written on his face for Ishmeet’s community. If Gajendra Singh still dosent take any action against Abhijeet, I see a similar situation developing as that of Indian Idol Gurka crisis. So Gajendraji, a stitch in time will save nine.Act fast and sack abhijeet.

As a proof of what I am saying is true that Sumitra’s shooting was done on different day, I am pasting the link below, please visit that. The audience changes (sitting behind Sanjay Leela Bhansali) when Sumitra sang.

They could not arrange orchestra for her in so many days? Huh!!

Priyani too was given a difficult song (just to keep Abhilasha safe).

It is all rigged. When the judges have now 50% weightage in their hands, no wonder they will do everything to ensure safe passage for Abhilasha and keep potential threats to her out.

    Just visit this link please.

Everyone, let’s analyse logically. The organisers of VOI show want the winner to be one who will become the topmost playback singer. Similarly the judges too want the winner to be deserving, otherwise their reputation in the industry will be wiped out.
The topmost playback singer should have the following qualities

1.The most important is ability to sing love songs and sad songs. If you notice, Mohd Rafi and Lata , considered as the best playback male and female singers ever, are absolutely top in singing both love songs and sad songs. Their songs are not equalled by anyone else so far.

2.The voice should be suited for love songs and sad songs. In male singers, the voice should be light, smooth and soft like Rafi. In females, it should be pure, sweet and clear like Lata.

3.Pronounciation of the words should be crystal clear like both Rafi and Lata.

4.A certain amount of knowledge and training in classical music is also required.

Please remember that if someone is very very strong in classical singing but without the above 4 points, they will fail as a top playback singer.

Some of the singers have their own strengths in certain specific types of songs they will get some opportunities but the cannot become the top playback singer.

Considering the 4 points mentioned above, Abhilasha is the best among all the 12.That’s why the judges are backing her and they will be proved right in the long run.

Please remember that the judges know more about film music than we people.

And Rishiji, you say that Priyani was given a difficult song. This song was sung by Mukesh and Lata. Admittedly the Lata portion (only one note in the song, no words) is very difficult and no one can blame Priyani for failing there. But the other portions where words are there ‘Aa Ab Laut Chale’ was by Mukesh is very easy to sing. Priyani totally messed up this portion also. The whole song was sung without the least clue about the sur. Please hear the original song. In the question of talent Priyani is definitely less than Abhilasha.

Abhilasha will go into top gear and show us her full merit and when she wins the VOI no one will dare to raise his or her voice against her.

    Thanks Niranjan ji,

I hope you agree to whatever I have written about the treatment meted out to Sumitra by not providing the orchestra to her.

You only disagreed about what I wrote about Abhilasha. I respect your views as everyone has his / her favourites and you also have mentioned in one of your earlier posts that who your favourite is.

But, it would have been nice if you had written something about the things which I wrote apart from Abhilasha. I hope you agree to them.

Mr. Imran. I have been reading your racially prejudiced comments, which say aloud that you mental help. Consult a physiatrist. I know a few. Let me know if you need their numbers. You are giving us (Pakistanis) a bad name.
These religious fundas are so 40s. Art is above all this.

I am an ardent fan of VOI and watch it religiously. I think abhas, toshi, arshpeet and sumitra have got soul-stirring voices. Abhas made me cry when he crooned satam shevam sundaram… you need balls to sing such tough song and he sang it with perfection. Arshpeet was also too good to be true. Sadly, she is someone who has been neglected throughout though she is got divine voice… far better (read powerful) than abhilashaz, sumitraz and priyaniz.

It was very low of abhijeet to pass a comment on ashmit. It does not suit someone of his stature. Please come out of this racism and vote for the talent. And nothing else.

    Dear Rishiji,

Nothing personal here. I am very happy that you took my comments in good spirit.

Thanks for your comment. Normally I would like to comment only about who I like and avoid commenting about others because this is sure to enrage their supporters. The only exception was in Priyani’s case. That’s the reason I did not say anything about Sumitra.

Now, I would like to say something about your first comment. I have not seen the videos so I am asking. Did they show Bansali when Sumitra was singing, if so then it must have been on the same day. It is very unlikely that he would have come there again on another day. If they have not shown Bansali, how do you say that the audience behind him is different.

Even if it was shot on the same day there might have been a gap in time and it is possible for the audience to get rearranged.
But if it is true that the orchestra was not provided to her deliberately then I condemn it wholeheartedly. But I dont understand why would they do that deliberately. The way it has happened now Sumitra will get more sympathy votes than if the orchestra had been provided to her.

I agree, Raheel! India and Pakistan can be united again through art, trust me. I am an Indian, but my favourite contestant of all reality shows is Amanat Ali (in SaReGaMaPa). It does not matter whether he is a Pakistani. What matters is that his voice is so divine and beautiful. Why should I discredit the Pakistani Amanat, when I listen to his songs everyday (and every night) with at least five repetitions? I listened to Amanat’s rendition of “Hungama Kyun Hai Barpa” fifteen times at a stretch, and never once thought that he is a Pakistani. I am also a great fan of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab and Adnan Sami – both of Pakistani origin. So tell me, what reason do I have to not like them?
As far as VOI is concerned, my favorites are Irfan/Abhas/Toshi (in boys) and only Arshpreet in girls. I think Priyani was very disappointing on Saturday, and she has been dropped from my list now. Abhilasha is good, but we have someone loads better in Shreya Ghoshal. Arshpreet, however, is unique.
I really really hope Harshit gets eliminated this week. I have been waiting for that moment for ages. Arshpreet, Irfan, Abhaas and Toshi are far more deserving.

    Hi Rishi,

Hats off to you for noticing such minute details and getting our attention to it. I am surprized if this has happened, why so? Why this unjust for Sumitra. I thought she has been a favorite of most of the judges since beginning.

Regarding Abhijeet’s comments to Ishmeet- I support all of you who are condemning it. It was totally uncalled for. I also lost respect for him. I really used to like him. But again as Rishi pointed correctly this is all done for higher TRPs ..more controversy means more publicity. But I really feel bad for Ishmeet and I feel he showed some maturity by not saying a word during the elimination process.

Kamal, I read your post and must appreciate it. We really need more people like you in this country. And let us all not get communalism, regionalism and religion in this pure form of art. It judges are doing this, it is disgraceful. Music is above all this.

In the end, I hope IRFAN becomes VOI as he is truly deserving and a fighter too. IRFAN ROCKS!!!!!!!

Toshi was too good. About many people objecting to his pleading for votes, he has been asked to do so and had no choice. Prior to the announcement of the Wild Card Results all contestants were asked as to who was worthy of being in the show. Each one came up with different names. Only Toshi said he deserved to and was not willing to comment further.. Toshi, I love ur confidence. VOI’s cheap tricks of getting him to sing towards the end each time to keep viewers glued is nagging. High time VOI, out with it, Toshi is running the show and boosting ur TRP ratings.

Some bloggers here r trying to misguide the ppl by saying abhijeet’s out burst against Ishmeet was for publicity. I totally disagree. What happened was that deep-rooted hatred against sikhs in the mind of Abhijeet came to forefront. I was disappointed by Adesh shrivastava, atleast he should hv supported ishmeet.Aadesh is a nice guy, but i wonder why he kept quiet that day.

    Mr Abhijeet,

I had great regards for you as a singer and as a person. But on 28th September the way you behaved with that innocent boy Ishmeet is unbelievable. You were the one who used to encourage him all the time then what happened that day.

Sir, do u think Ishmeet is such a fool that he will ask his people to send threatening SMS to you. I think Ishmeet’s rivals hv a hand in this. Then why did u say Ishmeet dosent deserve to be in top 12. You were the one who gave him high scores in previous programmes.
Sir, just imagine the impact your insult will hv on a young and innocent boy like Ishmeet. You could hv reprimanded him in private, but in front of the whole nation was too much.
Sir, will you be ever able to sing again after so brutally hurting an innocent soul like Ishmeet.

    Think about it sir.

    With no regards

The only thing good that came out of the show was Shaan’s Jaab Say Tere Naina from Saawariya (what a mind blowing composition from bollywood after such a long time) and Abhas’ Satyam Shivam (he absolutely rocked it. Whoever gave him the advise to stick with his genre is a genius, they probably risked his ouster over this old song, but it was worth it for those who care for good music and not SMSs).

    Rest was all noise.

It’s Toshi, Abhas, Arshpreet and Irfan all the way folks. There’s no one better than these guys on this show. Please stop posting comments that talk about how some judge or viewers are biased towards a particular religion. We don’t know anything like that for a fact, and anyone claiming otherwise on these posts is just venting their frustration that their favorite contestant didn’t get garlanded by the president of the country. Look at my favorite contestents’ religions, I can’t belong to all of those religions myself can I?

While watching the 29th sept VOI, I was thinking how much more pleasure I was getting from listening to the people who got eliminated compared to the boring theatrics that are dumped upon us during the regular show. I couldn’t care less for Abhilasha, Harshit and Ishmeet at this point. They are already way beyond the point they deserved to get to.

SVOI is not doing well even though so many telented singers are/were here. Gajendra Singh tried too much and the show is in bad shape now. First of all Abhejeet and Adesh should be leaving the show. These two guys are responsible for the problem.

Anyway, good wishes to the singers. They are very good. In female voices, Arshpreet and Priyani are the best. In male singers, I like Irfan and Abhaash. Toshi, again sounds like another Raja Hasan in SRGMP. I wish Irfan wins…he is really good.

    Dear Rishiji,

I saw the blog and thank you for the link. I agree that there are differences in the background, etc.

But I simply cant believe that Bhansaliji would come back on another day just to hear Sumitra, that too for just 2 lines without the music.

I feel what might have happened is that there was a break there while there was arguments and counter arguments. The audience also might have been asked to go out. So when they resumed there would have been some rearrangement.

The specs and the ring is no big deal. You can notice that the coat and the white shirt are absolutely the same.

What I want to know is the result of the wild card and what will happen this week.

  61. By John Galt on Oct 2, 2007 | Reply

    Dear niranjan,
1.The most important is ability to sing love songs and sad songs. If you notice, Mohd Rafi and Lata , considered as the best playback male and female singers ever, are absolutely top in singing both love songs and sad songs. Their songs are not equalled by anyone else so far.

    - Abhilasha clearly lacks this abhility. Comparing Abhilasha with Md Rafi and Lata is preposturous. Lata and Md Rafi are both great singers and are great people with great hearts and simplicity. Abhilasha is cunning and scheming. So point 1 is refuted.

2.The voice should be suited for love songs and sad songs. In male singers, the voice should be light, smooth and soft like Rafi. In females, it should be pure, sweet and clear like Lata.

    - point 2 is refuted because Abhilasha has a coarse voice (in Marathi faatlela awaaz), not beautiful to the ear.

3.Pronounciation of the words should be crystal clear like both Rafi and Lata.

    -Same as for point 2

4.A certain amount of knowledge and training in classical music is also required.

    - Abhilasha has some level of classical music training, but so have so many of the other participants. So there is nothing special about Abhilasha.

Thus all 4 points have been refuted. Therefore Abhilasha doesnt deserve to be VOI.

    Much regards
    John Galt

    Dear John,

I respect your opinion as I respect others too, thank you for your comments.

    Dear Niranjan,
Abhilasha might become VOI, its a different issue whether she deserves it. Anyways, I think both of us will agree whoever wins, this rigged and poorly managed show has really destroyed the fun and the enthusiasm of watching someonw win. Right now I dont really care who wins, because as I said its a lottery not a professional competition.

She has a great future in playback singing and no silly, dirty comments against her are gonna stop her from becoming the queen of playback singing in the future.

As for Abhilasha..after her last preformance I have to say that she is bad at times…to me a preformer is someone who can consistently preform well, not one here…and as for Abhilasha its one good song and 3 bad ones…so Id have to agree and say that she is a queen, more of a drama one then a singing queen.

GO Toshi…Go Priyani…my favs are back in

    Dear kvniranjan8,
I agree with you on Sanjay Leela coming again on another day just to hear 2 lines from Sumitra. I think this whole drama is created for Sumitra so that she might get some popularity and sympathy from public before she is out of this competition.

  73. By Neel on Oct 2, 2007 | Reply

On Sumitra’s singing on the wildcard episode: I think some people are stretching their imagination a bit too far. I agree with kvniranjan8 view. Consider following:
Why would SLB come again on Wednesday just to hear Sumitra? Also for that matter isn’t it rather odd to expect the entire audience come back on Wednesday just for that 2-minute? Finally, before singing the two lines Sumitra said something like this [I can't recollect her exact lines] “I was thrown out yesterday and I am not in a mental condition to decide if I would sing today…” If that part was done on Wednesday, why Sumitra would say that she was thrown out yesterday?

Anyways, let’s concentrate on the upcoimg episodes and hope this wildcard entry episodes get settled soon so that we know exactly who are in the final six and watch some nice performances.

    Dear Ateeq,

While we all have our own favourites and we usually write about them because (as Niranjan ji said) writing about others may infuriate the fans of other singer. I totally endorse the views of Niranjan ji.

He has been writing about Abhilasha , I for Sumitra, someone is writing for Abhas, someone is writing for Priyani and someone is writing for Toshi. There is nothing wrong in that, my dear. But while writing, everyone is keeping the sensitivities of others in mind, which I am afraid to point out, you have NOT kept in mind and then you have the heart burn (while writing to Sujatha ji) that others get appreciated for writing the same thing in different words.

Look what u wrote in various posts:
    1) Sumitra and Adesh have something fishy between them. First it was between her and Abhijeet and now it is Adesh’s turn.

    2) Then in the very next post (instead of regret) you mentioned that you wrote this, based on the information from your inside sources. My question is, even if suppose this information is correct, do you still have the right to write such things about some lady on public blogs?

    3) While everyone is writing about their favourites, and there is nothing wrong in that. You loosely wrote that those who are writing for Sumitra are writing because they are getting paid for that.

    4) Lastly, you used the word “Hypocrite” for Sumitra’s fans.

    5) Then all along you write that you refrain from making personal comments.

In which catagory the above-mentioned statements fall?
Please write something while keeping the sensitivities of others in mind too, then your posts would automatically be appreciated.

It is upto the people on this blog to decide what is what. In case, I have hurt anybody’s sensitivities by writing such statements please point it out to me, so that I can correct myself.

Folks , can we pick ourselves up.
Rishiji , while I agree with what you have written and back you wholeheartedly vis a vis Ateeq, however can we please stop this trail here once and for all and discuss music or even the different aspects of the show instead of personalities.
It has been a long time since we actually read anything insightful on music or the show per se on this blog. It’s all been personality A and personality B.Can we move on?

  78. By Shankar on Oct 3, 2007 | Reply

Agree with Harihar. However, I must also say that the participant’s personality reflects in their singing, so some quality discussion around participant’s personality e.g. honesty, simplicity, integrity etc should be discussed. However vague and imaginary arguments like aadesh getting favours from Sumitra are a bit distasteful as there is no way to substantiate that. However someone in the post was discussing quality issues like double standards by participants etc – those discussions are pertinent to someone becoming VOI.
    Just my thoughts.

They are like puppets as whatever channel says ,they do, no matter if sentiments of any contestant or audience are hurted, it doesn’t bother them. They hv to make money 4 themselves & the channel who is paying them.

I hv seen so many blogs… can anybody tell me what volume of work these so called judges possess today?
I mean, in hw many films, Mr Abhijit & Ms Alka Yagnik are singing & In how many films, the music is of Mr Adesh Srivastava or Jatin-Lalit?

Can somebody tell me? If you search… you will find that all of them are jobless having no songs or films in their hand…. & all the market has been captured by young music directors & singers…. all of you know the names of today’s leading music directors & singers.

So, all of this mockery is being done for their bread n butter & nothing else….

    hi friends,

its been two weeks since i have been reading your posts. Actually I started reading it after watching the show on 28th September. So far, majority of the people writing in the blogs over here have been sensible and careful with their words.

Now I would just like to say one thing. This show started with a good intention at getting a credible singer for SVOI and even the judges were going about their job impartially. But after the final 12 were selected, they were divided into two teams i.e. Agni & Prithvi. Now this is where the problem started initially becase the two teams started indulging in one upmanship and the public reacts to many things that are said on live television. Add to that, we have a system of voting out the contestants. Therefore what one sees and hears on television has an outcome on the decision of one’s vote which sometimes result in a deserving candidate getting voted out early.

So for all these weeks we have seen a lot of drama happening in this show. And what I saw in last night’s show has made me give ZERO points on the very credibility of this show. A wild card entry is supposed to be given to only ONE person but now we have THREE contestants ruling the roost thanks to the partiality shown by the judges of this show.

Do you think is it fair to the TOP FOUR contestants? I don’t think so.

These contestants have been brought in so that singers like Irfan, Ishmeet & maybe even Abhilasha are voted out. Because the mindset of the judges is that top three should be Toshi, Abhaas & Harshit. I may be wrong, but gathering from what i have seen in the last few episodes, I can only come to this conclusion. So why have the system of public voting when the judges are given a full hand to manipulate the results? This really sucks !!!

Last but not the least is that I am a little amused at bringing “Daler Mehndi” as a guest for Saturday night’s episode. Even though I might be sounding too far fetched, I personally think that bringing him on the show is more of a damage control exercise undertaken by the producer of this show because of the “communal comments”, one of our esteemed judges had made to a contestant on this show (if you know what I mean)
