Elimination of Abhilasha was expected much earier. Wonder how Eshmit is still there… Chakrawak members are :-

    1) Priyani
    2) Toshi
    3) Abhilasha

This again shows that entire voters of India not recognizing Priyani and Toshi as “Voice Of India” Truly saying…… real Star Voices are already thrown away from this compitition.. Good Going Gajendrasing and company…

When abhilasha, ishmeet and priyani get eleminated and toshi, hrishit, irfan and abhas r left, end the show!
otherwise it would be like the bowl out b/w india and pakistan, where both teams played brilliantly and were winners in their own right but some stupid rules spoiled the fun of many (imagine, had the match been stopped, both teams could have applauded eachother for their efforts and would have been great for the game).. similarly in this case, let the four (real) singers out and let them prove who the real ‘don’ is, in the field (i.e. industry)…
    luv

Hi guys jus curious if Priyani and Toshi are in chakravat then does tat mean tat these are two wild card entries or have the producers and judges got another twist to the story by letting all the 3 wild card contestants stay back I am a bit confused can somebody throw some light on it?

  5. By mehul on Oct 9, 2007 | Reply

very bad for the show missing Abhilasha. Whatever forum write about her, she is versatile singer and can sing every type of song that was the show about. Only hopes now is Harshit.

    Hi Friends,

I think these shows are not Talent Hunt Shows, but Money hunt Show. Some judges are there to get themselves promote in the eyes of Bollywood Film Directors and get more contracts by promoting their own favorites

These shows have reflected what India is suffering from in all dimensions. This is a vicious cycle – a loose manager, a greedy channel, a ridiculous format – public voting, incorrigible judges and lack of clearly defined rules. – A recipe for confusion and degradation. In this confusion and chaos, a group of almost 12 talented (some are not talented at all) people have lost their innocence and have been taught that in order to succeed in Indian music industry, you should do everything else, except honing your singing ability – you should know how to play politics, you should know how to exploit the judges, you should know how to play “Iam a poor thing, vote for me”, you should bring your family and create a “Saans bhi kabhi bahu thi” drama on the stage, employ people’s sympathy etc.

Reality Shows are nothing, but IMHO, a tacky, insensitive and cheap Substitute for the regular Soaps and stuff. It is a cheaper alternative – especially for home grown formats, where they don’t have to pay a hefty licensing fee to the originators like in the case of Indian Idol or KBC. These shows prey on the people’s innate desire to watch what’s behind the curtains, and also the “real” reactions and emotions which would not be matched by the greatest of thespians, however hard they try.
The shows are a great way for the channels to up their TRPs and also a cash cow which can be milked long after the shows’ been taken off air.

    1) Through the Shows – the Endorsements; the Ad Sponsorships; Title Sponsorship; concerts and so on

    2) Voting Revenues – SMS & Voice – small percentage; nevertheless revenues anyways.

    3) Content Syndication – For DVD, VCD VHS rights; Re-broadcast Rights; Tracks on CDs & Tapes

    4) Appearance rights – where for the next few months the euphoria will still be high; we will have to talk to a Star or a Sony if we want any of the contestants/winners appearing for a function or performing. And we will be paying the channels and not the contestants themselves

    5) Licensing & Merchandising – where a need is created in the people to own a bit of the show – like the Jacket worn by XYZ, or Tee-shirts; Caps etc. L& M is a huge market today.

The bottom line of this is that Most of these shows have a huge fan following; of which a mockery is being made of because of the stage-managed elements in each of the shows. And the public is led on a merry chase saying that their votes influence the shows, which is then changed according to the whims of the Judges and producer.

This is getting to be too much. Good singers in Chakravath. I am surprised Ishmeet is not even in Chakravath. If the voting is correct then people in India need to come out of regional and relgion biasness. Toshi, such a vesatile singer is in Chakravath??? This is unbelievable.

In last weeks performance only two singers really sang well – Toshi and Harshit.

Dont know whether this is real or fake.

    Cant understand.

Agreed that there will be only one VOI but bad singers should be eliminated first.

Please Guys VOTE for TOSHI. He deserves to be VOI.

    According to me,
    1. Irfan
    2. Harshit
    3. Abhaas
    4. Ishmeet
    5. Priyani
    6. Toshi
    7. Abhilasha

To me, the public judgment was absolutely correct. Abhialasha is yet to be matured. Her first performance in the audition round was awesome but after that I could not get similar performances from her.

Priyani is a good singer but she does not chose correct song for her. “fighter” does not mean fool. She always chose very very tough songs and can’t do a very good justice to it. It is better to take a descent song and do full justice to it.

Toshi, as Sonu and Sunidhi said, tries too much (more than it is required). I believe that he can sing better if gets better guidance. he is really takes unnecessary “harkat” and makes it unpleasant but e really has a very good music sense. In SRGMP, Raja sang “dard-e-disco” almost flawless. Toshi could not reach to that height. I don’t know why Abhijeet is hyping that much.

To me Irfan is the best singer of this competition. He has good range but he could not sing that well last day though. Harshit is another superb singer and he is best in soft romantic numbers. “Hare Rama hare krishna” was a great surprise to me.

Abhaas needs to be more matured and I think he can be a very good singer as well in future. But I feel, Aneek in SRGMP is much much better singer than Abhaas.

Well, Ishmeet’s voice is nice but not like sher-e-Punjab. His voice should be more bold but beautiful.

so far as Abhilasha has been eliminated I dont really care who wins. She was the most dodgy characters of all, very scheming and she is the one who really thrived on this whole mess and confusion of the show. Thankfully she is out.

We were much discussing whether to post this topic or not. But i think u cannot hide truths always. Since another forum (o***t) has been discussing this, we thought the real music lovers forum of india-forums should also know this.

You all might have seen saturday episode where Sumitra was so reluctant to sing and was made a bakri by VOI team. Atleast somebody would have thought what happened to this mature girl, who is known tobe a fighter. Let us reveal somethings about this.

Sumitra gave been given a bad treatment. When all the wildcard contestants were given orchestra she wasnt given one. this is what really happened.

The shoot for wildcard happened on monday night after everyone performed The saawariya team were called on stage and after that Sanjay wanted to leave so they postponed Sumitra’s performance on Wednesday , But on Wednesday the orchestra wasnt available so she was asked to perform with out orchestra. But in the episode shown they showed as if sumitra wasnt interested to sing and hence sang with out orchestra a few lines.

But the VOI team failed to remove all the evidence as any criminal would forget one major evidence. IF you ppl noticed the stage clearly it can be seen tht when sumitra was performing there were a lot of papers and decorates which were lying on the stage floor , which was actually showered on the Saawariya team when they were on the stage. Also point to be noted here is there were not all the judges present on the shoot for Sumitra on wednesday as if they were present am sure The camera would have been focused and i am sure the 5 GREAT judges would have something to say atleast abhijeet and jatin cant keep their mouth shut. So its very clear that some thing is fishy.

The question here is not if you people like sumitra or not. We respect the opinion and freedom of people to like or dislike anyone. Nor we have any criticism to anyother participant.

The question here if these people have decided the results of wild card round then why this drama and politics and why do they play with the Janta’s emotions. Really making a Mockery of The Janta wasting their time and money.
Once the show gets over, we will disclose more ‘ realities’ of the reality show, as it not good in the interest of the show and Sumitra especially to do it now.

Moderators, pls be kind enough to make this post.

True, very much true what you have said above in both of your posts… really they are just making money by making fool out of their sentiments and emotions… and these singers are just dummies for them… Can anybody tell me that what has happened to all those singers coming out of these shows except a few…and those few can be counted on one finger only.. where are the rest? And same thing is going to happen with all these… They will be star for a fortnight and will fade away in their own shadow… and then when people will forget (as we know our memory is so weak), they will be back again with brand new show with some more tamashas of jatin, abhijeet, blah blah… But I dont blame channel people for all this… blame should go to all of us…. the Aam Junta.. who, at some corner of their hearts, know what the truth is but we as are getting entertained… so we say “Chalta hai” and what else the channel people want….. Apna Sapna Money Money.. no matter from where it comes…

    Hi siddharth,

I do believe that Toshi does not get any guidance or support
from his mentors as they are busy promoting only Harshit.

I think the stress is also affecting his singing. He doesn’t look quietly confident any more. Listen to his earlier songs which are so much better.

  20. By the_seeker on Oct 10, 2007 | Reply

    Curious,

Yes, Toshi’s singing has slipped a bit but that was only in last week’s two episodes.

I think we can give him a benefit of doubt as the episodes may be getting shot either on the same day, or say, spread across two days. And assuming he has a sore throat, the performance may get impacted in both the episodes. How can we forget the not so old performance he gave in front of Khayaam Sahab… “Tere bin nahin lagda” which surely ranks amongst the best performances not only on SVOI, but other such programs alongwith Vinit’s “Teraa Jadoo” and Amanat’s “More Saiyaa”! Lets see how he does this week… Looking fwd to it! :)

Meanwhile, let me also add here that whatever depressing drama might’ve occurred during the wildcard round, with the return of Abhas and Toshi one can again look forward to the next episode of the program.

Both are potential stars in-the-making in their own right, although Abhas, def needs some more time due to his young age.

IMO, Harshit is a capable singer, but as of now, probably not more than that. Every time he comes out to sing, you can immediately make out the name of singer who has sung the original song! If only Harshit can break out of this trap of trying to do a complete copy of the original singer, he can also prove to be a strong contender!!

Irfan has his heart in the right place but needs to have more power (throw) in his voice, alongwith more modulation control. Ishmeet, like Irfan, appears to ‘ve a wonderful temperament and attitude! But, when it comes to singing, although he has the talent, still needs to spend a lot of time on getting the basics right. Professional singing demands a lot from a performer and without proper and extensive training you are unlikely to go a long way, even if you’ve some innate capability. Candidates like Priyani, Toshi, Arshpreet, and Abhaas have already spent a lot of time in getting training and the difference shows.

    Come on everybody……
I really do not understand as to why we are taling this ? After wildcard entry drama… Toshi, Priyani and Aabhas came back into race. Who knows what really the openion of Khaiyyam, Ravindra Jain, Anandji, and Parvin Sultana ??

Surprisingly two out of three are again came into chakrawak… under the circumstances, who are taking such decisions ? Hon. Judges (Wild Card Judges) or Public….?????

This means either public or Wildcard Judges were rejected these guys… yes this is fact.

Toshi, Priyani, Abhas, Harshit, Irfan, etc… are not at all “Voice of India” One of them can be either :-

    1) Star Voice
    2) Amul Voice
    3) Jatin/Lalit Voice
    4) Aadesh Voice
    5) Abhijit/Alka Voice

If these guyes are really too good singers… why Jatin Lalit-Aadesh not asigned them work as did lot of times by

    1) Bappi Lahiri
    2) Vishal Shekar
    3) Himesh Reshammiya

During SA RE GA MA PA on Zee TV. Albums are ready for (As per info on orkut and some live programs on Zee TV)

    1) Sumedha (Barbi Dall of Chattisgadh

    2) Mauli (Indian Shakira)
    3) Poonam

This might be because judges of SVOI does not have any work. So SVOI…. stop making public fool at least now.

The majority of people i came in contact with said that Sumitra and Arshpreet were the best of the lot. Unfortunately both have been eliminated.

Alkaji infact said that we have got our Voice of India when she heard Sumitra’s song for the first time.

Its unfortunate that both these ladies failed to secure votes inspite of being such versatile singers.

Just wanted to express my appreciation for enabling moderation on the blog! Ideally this should’nt’ve been required, but alas, we live in a far from ideal world. I understand that this asks for more personal effort from your side and its appreciable what you are doing to keep this forum alive and kicking.

The forum was suffering from hooliganism for some time and a strong step like this was desperately required. Although it seems to’ve lost some of the most insightful commentators, hopefully they’ll come back and share their thoughts and observations again, once some semblance of sanity appears to be getting restored.

    Hello,

I have been coming to this forum for a while now and this is first time that I am posting a comment. First of all Jatin I didn’t like your comment about toshi and abhijeet. I believe that Toshi is a great singer and Abhijeet is a legend in his own right, to make such comments makes me think that all you want is attention. I have alot of respect for this forum and will not use harsh words but please do not bring religion into a competition. I am acually happy to see abhilasha go not because I don’t like her but because she still needs to mature her voice. And if you remember she has been coming in Chakrawat for a while now and it was just time. As for the rest here what I think will happen.

    Week – Eliminated
    10/19 – Ishmeet
    10/26 – Harshid
    11/02 – Abhaas

I believe the Final 3 are going to be:

    Priyani, Irfan and Toshi.

These are the strongest amongst the ones mentioned above, now please take in consideration overall performance not just one.

    thanks,

    HI,
I am a regular viewer of SVOI.It was one of the nice program before, but now it has become like ekta kapoor serial.
I request G.singh to stop Prithvi and Agni team, I request u to make only one team who can sing for India.
Now a days i am observing all contestants, they are singing only for their team and their judges. Its really ridiculous, we need voice of India and not voice of judges or voices of prithvi or Agni team.
The judges here are doing too much of politics. It has to stop. They has to teach them a right way of singing but not to sing for their own teams. Here Toshi,Abhaas,Irfan,
are the best, Harshit is also good, but he tries to get sympathy votes that i didn’t liked in him. This is my opinion. Sorry to those who love Harshit.
Toshi is a good, talented, wonderful singer. I have heard kaho na kaho song.In that he didn’t missed even a single words of Arabic. Toshi really rocks. If he get good feedback definetly there is no doubt for him to become SVOI.
Please, G.singh i request u to stop prithvi and Agni team, make it a single team then see the magic.
Today i heard, Toshi is in chakravat. How’s this possible? Its really unfair to him.He has such a tremendous voice.
May be these are dramas to get public attention. In coming days Ishmeet is going to get eliminated, then priyani, then Irfan and the top three will be Toshi, Abhaas, Harshit. In these three Abhaas may get eliminated, Toshi and Harshit will be the finalist.Or Toshi or Irfan may be the finalist. This is what i am thinking, and i request all guys who write comments here not to bring politics by taking their states, we are not like Jatin-Lalit,Abhijeetha, Adesh, Alka
We are better than them.We have lots of work ahead. We should not vote emotionally but we should vote for right voice, this is my opinion.
    Thank you

jatin, you are wrong.alkaji in fact said we ahve got the voice of india, during the auditions when she heard abhilaasha sing.she did not say any such thing when sumitra sang.tho abhilaasha has not been upto the mark and kept up with alka jis aspirations for her, constant, unwarranted support from alkaji has not helped her go to the top three, from what the blog says about her being eliminated.
For me , i ahve no favourites,i just enjoy the music, and definitely wince, when the singers do go off key.and its been happening quite a bit in the last two episodes.stress may b….
if they banish the prithvi and agni teams , the competition will b much better, as i mentioned in a earlier post, and prob change the judges too.its not too late…..to make the programme better.

    Dear Shashi and Seekar,

It’s been over a month I’ve been writing in this forum. It was Toshi elimination that brought me to this site. Since then I’ve read some breathtaking observations from some mild-mannered people.

I think it’s been 2 or 3 weeks now, that wicked statements has become regular practice here. Along with some other writers, I tried dealing politely with some, but seems like that Newton’s 3rd Law of motion is applicable “Action and reaction are equal but in opposite direction”!. Rather some one nicely invented translation of this law saying “Injection and ejection are equal but in opposite direction”! Means more you inject, more will be ejected. We tried to inject some gentleness but more hate was ejected!

I did mention in earlier blog that drama of VOI is injecting frustration in the fans of VOI contenders that is being ejected here. Criticism is indispensable part of success but only if it is positive. I hope readers of this forum will understand music and will stop hating each others just because they don’t write s per their wishes.

I was really happy to Shashi, first time warning people not to use abusive language and especially comments moderation is well deserved mve. Thanks again to Shashi for doing such a superb job by keeping this forum alive. All the best!!!

Just one question to Shashi. Would it be possible for others to write about eliminations in advance in this forum?

    Hi Guys,

    Lets talk about music.

Lets go back and see who has sung what kind of songs.

    1. Toshi (My favourite)Fantabulous singer – Has sung all kind of songs – viz Gazals, Item songs, Qawallis, Playback singing (Romantic etc…), Folk songs – and to my knowledge – the bit i have of music he is been great.Voice modulation & notes variation is simply awesome.

    2. Abhaas – Fantastic singer – Has sung Playback (Romantic etc..), Qawallis, so called folk song that he sang was actually a playback and thats it. He has fantastic voice modulation and can take on Higher and lower notes simultaneously.

    3. Irfan – Tried to sing all kind but failed in certain kinds. Looses breath while performing.

    4. Harshit – Good singing but just one kind of songs – i.e. playback.Good voice quality.

    5. Priyani – Good singing – but looses on higher notes.Seems like she is screaming.

    6. Ishmeet – Good Voice Quality – Cannot take on Higher and lower notes simultaneously.

Summary is Toshi, Abhaas should be in top 2.

    Hi CuriousOnlooker,

I agree that Toshi looked little nervous. Yes, I liked his first performance “tere bina lage nahin”. But after that his performances were not so good. But I think he can sing better if he can control his voice. It seemed little uncontrolled to me.

Also, I personally felt that it was too late to entry the wild card round.

  36. By Sadiq on Oct 11, 2007 | Reply

    Hi Mehul,
U mentioned that Toshi cannot sing many types of songs …
    You should know that:

Toshi has sung all kind of songs right from

Piya re (Lets say a Qawali)

to Sili Sili Hawa (say a folk)
Specially during this song all people were almost in tears. The guests also said that the way Toshi sing the song it was touching their heart and she wanted to cry.

    And the other songs are

    to Saqi (An Item Song)

to Yaar ko Maine Mujhe yaar ne sone na diya (A Film Song)

    to Lagan Lagi (A Gazal)
    and all to the perfection

and if I include “Teri Diwani” (A Classical – he sang it better than original as mentioned by none other than Jagjit Singh).

He is definitely a fantastic singer and he has shown all the Jauners of singing.

He deserves to be the VOICE of INDIA

I have been visiting this for sometime now and I would like to say that the 12 singers are good in their own way and ever since it was split into two teams it has given raise to more politics and drama Jatin Pandit who claims to be Neutral Judge is always in support of his brother n brother in law’s team and Aadesh n lalit dont leave a single opportunity to criticize Prithvi team members and always praise their team even if they do blunder its no more VOI its Agni’s VOI n Prithvi’s VOI n lot of favorism for a few singers. There has been a lot of drama eversince this bemisal barah started and wild card another comedy they said they will pick 4 from those eliminated and end up picking five and another drama saying tat out these five two will be picked and end up with Top three they intensify the drama tat among Top 3 only 2 shall come in and from wat i have read n understood from this blog is tat the Top 3 is in and not two as mentioned just wondering if they want to do all this drama n decide everything by themselves y this drama of public voting n y blame the jantha for the blunders they do

    Dear $ashi,
My take on moderation – I think there shouldnt be any moderation not because I like to read all the rude comments some participants have been posting, but because I believe in freedom of speech. Just like we do not agree the way Indian censor board takes the role of moral police and tells us what we should accept as good and what as bad, we should follow similar practice on blogs. Its your blog and you can choose to do what you want with it, but I believe the way to shut up people like Jatin is by ignoring them. I am ok either way you choose to handle this blog, but given a choice I would still go with blog without moderation. Happy with whatever decision you take and I will keep commenting on this blog so long as you are posting the videos and so long as quality people also keep commenting.

No matter what you decide, you are doing a great job by uploading these videos as people like me who stay out of India and dont have Star Plus at least can view the show online.

    Great job.

I am personally fond of Toshi and his training in music. However, I fear for him. I think VOI should be a versatile singer and should be able to sing light songs as well as difficult songs. Toshi has been so far singing heavy and difficult songs. Whilst this shows his level of training, which all of us are convinced by now, he should start exploring into simple and light songs. It would be interesting to see if he can sing “Ek Chatur naar”. I cannot imagine him singing that kind of songs or “Aake seedhi lagi” from Half Ticket. I like Abhas’ choice of songs. He has shown us he can sing a variety of songs. As much as I want Toshi to win, I really want to be sure that he can produce equal quality on these type of songs, unless he wants to be a niche singer and only wants to sing particular type of songs, which is a bit sad as in playback singing we need generalists like Kishor Kumar and not specialists like Ghulam Ali/ Jagjit Singh. These are masters in their own fields, but they dont sing mainstream songs.

Just a thought. I wish Toshi all the best.

    Regards
    John Galt

i guess harshit or abhas will be SVOI as both are very consistent performers i never saw harshit sang any song badly while abhas only once that KAAL KAAL SONG

Yet another interesting take on things, which differs so much from the conventional wisdom John! Its always a pleasure to hear from you.

However, at the same time, I’d like to add that I do not agree with your opinion when you say Toshi may not be the ideal choice for VOI.

The biggest question ofcourse is, “What exactly is the definition of a VOI?” Is it what yours or mine or say Jatin’s understanding is? Or will it be more of a fluke where community/ emotional/ and such kinds of factors will play the main role in making someone a VOI? Where the title “VOI” itself may not hold any significance in itself, rather the goodies package that comes alongwith it may be of more interest.

Leaving that line of thought aside for a moment, lets accept for arguments sake that Toshi may not be an ideal choice for lightweight songs. Do note that this “MAY NOT” be fully true (Toshi has already excelled in singing Yaar ko Maine/ Kaho na kaho).

Does that take away anything from the caliber of the man? It may or may not depending on one’s point of view.

As I see it, this guy has HUGE talent the like of which is not seen normally. Maybe you can find people who are more adept than him in rendering lightweight bollywood songs, but what about vice-versa?

How many really are there who can play with such consummate ease with sur and taal… as Toshi does at times by purposely getting out of beat and then scampering back in without ruffling a feather (eg. in Tera bina nahin lagda, and Thaare Bina laage nahin. In both the cases check out the reaction from Judges)! And yours as well when you hear that sheer magic! :)

Today this guy has a platform to showcase this talent and a chance to be a **VOI**. Just say, getting a formal recognition, a chance to cut an album, and some financial backing all of which might help him as he looks forward to establish a career in professional singing for himself.

Coming to the question about Abhaas, this boy is perhaps almost equally talented, the keyword being **almost**. The age factor may’ve something to do it. Yes he’s a versatile singer but if you’ve a head to head in Toshi’s genre, perhaps we all are sure about the result.

So just recognizing the oodles of talent on show I strongly feel Toshi ought to be crowned the VOI, because nobody else has what he has on offer.

    Hi Seeker,
thanks for your comments. I do not disagree with you at all. I want Toshi to win as he is best amongst the lot. The gap between him and the next best is huge. I just am a bit nervous that he shouldnt be typecasted into one genre of songs (unless of course if he wants that and there is nothing bad in that). I fully agree with you about some light songs he sang e.g. Kaho na Kaho. I think he should keep delivering these types every now and then to remind the public (and music directors) that he can sing these songs as well.

W.r.t Abhas, he does occasionally slip in sur (Mitwa – he did not pick up a line in accordance with orchestra and in the same song he had to take a breath in between the high pitch). No criticism of him. I think he is quite good and the occasional slip happens from everyone including Shaan (when he sang that Ghazal), Alka Yagnik as well. Besides that slip I think Abhas has been consistent and delivery quality songs.

Toshi on the other hand has never really slipped in sur (except I think once his voice control slipped in the last episode, but stage singing can result in that occasionally)

I really like Toshi and I want to see him win. I just think he should deliver the occassional simple songs for his own good. I woud like to see all music directors giving him all types of songs (again unless of course he prefers to sing one genre of songs and that’s fine too).

With regards the definition of VOI. I always assumed the show is looking for mainstream playback singers. But that’s just my interpretation and hence my comments It is open to interpretation since as in other cases, Gajendra has quite failed to make this clear too!
    John

I do agree with John Galt about removing the comments.

But Sashi is doing a outstanding job by uploading the videos. I sincerely thank Sashi for this effort.

So far the discussion has been healthy (compared to SRGMP website). But who knows what will happen when people get aggressive and abusive to any particular contestant for some non-music reason. Hope this site will be better…

WOW !!! so many ppl talking bout star VOI.. gr8.
actually i m a regular watcher of VOI n i really feel that this is a good show.
as i was reading through all the posts here, i found ppl say that this show is this n that, many negative comments on the show, but the only thing i would say is that if u ppl really think that this show is really that bad then y take the pain to watch it in first place?? n even if u watch it then y discuss bout it n waste ur time??
(sorry sashi but cant control myself yaar)
i think that this blog is for discussing bout contestants performance not bout the show o gajji o ne of the judges. cuz one simple thing is that no one in this world would do nething for free. even star, amul, gajji, sponsors, all judges, everyone related to this show want to earn some money man. so let them do their work n lets just discuss bout the top 7.
according to me harshit is really a good performer, every episode he gets stronger n stronger (jus listen to all the comments frm guest judges everytime).
then comes abhas n toshi both of them dam good singers, i really feel that if harshit, toshi n abhas come in top 3 the show would get mad.
bout irfan, in the last episode, when he sang along with abhas u could see the difference cuz irfan was not able to sing as well as abhas, specially the low nodes, abhas won that.
i really feel that the reason irfan gets high votes is the stunt where he calls himself “HINDUSTANI”, comeon man everyone in the show is hindustani.
    according to me,
HARSHIT, TOSHI & ABHAS should b top 3.
n lastly sashi good work man, keep it up, really appericiate it.
    thanks a lot..

    Himanshu,

Interesting point there regarding everyone being out there to make money… so there’s nothing wrong in whatever SVOI people’ve been doing…

The only catch here is that although everything does boil down to making money, there are honorable and not so honorable ways of doing so. And then there are additional issues of ethics, public good, etc etc.

Just taking one example, a restaurant owner is also out there to make money. However, as a customer you’ll be perfectly right in expecting the restaurant to provide food which is safe to consume, and which is what the place claims it is! Say if they claim food is prepared using 100% veg ingredients, it better fit the claim. The restaurant can also cut corners and try to maximize its profits by serving previous days leftovers to customers. Will that be the right thing to do?

So I guess people will talk about what SVOI claims, what direction it is actually taking, how one expected things to occur… and people should be entitled to their opinions till they are expressing it in a proper manner and not creating any nuisance.

And def, as you wrote, nothing could be better than discussing the music aspect of the programme per-se. Lets hope us viewers dont find anymore cribbing points about the show and thus just enjoy discussing and commenting on various performances! :)

What i feel is only the people writing on this blog r the one who like Toshi, no body else. I repeating my self he is a very good singer but i m sure he will not be succedded in romantic songs at all. According to me Harshit,Priyani and Irfan should be in top 3. And people talks about Abhilasha is not mature, come on… yes she is behaving immatured..but look at the talent not the character.

  48. By imran on Oct 11, 2007 | Reply

do u think pankaj udhas n jagjit can sing kabhi alvida na kehna or kal ho na ho.. same problem with TOSHI he is a excellent singer but with limited capabilities. He cant sing all type of songs and SVOI means no limits.. singer who can sing all type of song in one word some one like sonu nigam.my most likely are harshit abhas i hope priyani too but the way she is performing very slim chance irfan different n original voice but not clear n classy.

    @ The Seekar

Top rated remark on Himanshu’s comments.

Man, if you are comparing food selling business with music promoting shows, that starts and ends with the word “Rupees” I think we need a break.

With out any doubt, this is a music talent hunt show. Look, Star plus hired top rated Zee TV top recitalists (in talent hunt shows), Shaan and Gajindra Singh. They started very well in pursue of “Bemisaal Baraah”. There was allot of scuffle between judges to finalise 12, specially on final day, when there was a big fight between 4 male judges and Alka Yagnik alone, fighting alone for rare talent. I appreciate Alka Yagnik’s comments “ suroon pur samjhota ho raha hay”. Her comments are actually being proved now, when most of the talented singers got eliminated and got wild card entry.

on the whole, it’s star plus fault, which paid hell lot of rupees to get Shaan and Gajindera Singh. They actually, under hell lot of monetary weight, fooled around with sentiments of public by introducing “ONLY PUBLIC VOTING” and choosing wrong judges to adjudicate this show. These all judges, except Alka Yagnik are impatient to bag big contract in bollywoood industry and it’s understood that these kinds of judges can be hired so cheaply. Now when cheaply paid judges are sitting there, specially Jatin Lalit (SO CALED NUETRAL JUDGE) ” who is trying to impress Sanjay Leela Bansali by supporting his favorite “Abhas” to bag a big contract for his forthcoming movie (specially after split with his brother Lalit pandit), what else can you expect from this show.

Surely, Gajindra Singh being season promoter for reality shows, will make a big comeback and will prove that VOI has still some worth. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Good to see some discussion finally happening on this blog!
    I think there are two different things one needs to keep in mind;
1.Becoming the winner of a reality show called Star VOI and 2. To succeed in Hindi playback. Both are entirely different things.
When a movie director and his/her music director short lists singers for an album/movie, there are two thought processes in their minds, a)will the singer do justice to the song from a saleability perspective and b)does this song fit into the genre (or as jatin-lalit-aadesh call it “jonar” :-) ))of songs that a particular singer is good at.
Case in point if you take two singers Priyani and Arshpreet. Priyani is what is called a “bankeable” singer in Bolllywood and Arshpreet is a niche singer. The breaks that Priyani will get will be much more regular as compared to Arshpreet (till Arshpreet becomes so much of a hit that then she becomes “bankeable!!). Because all said and done, music producers/directors in Bollywood are an extremely conservative lot overall as far as choice of singers go and they will go with the tried and tested 9 times out of 10.
This is also the reason why Toshi will have to avoid getting “slotted”. Already there is talk that he is best suited for sufi/high note a la Sukhwinder kind of songs, this could be detrimental for him in Bollywood ( too many singers fighting in that niche slot).
As for winning VOI, i frankly care two hoots who wins, because in my opinion, winning VOI has less to do with one’s actual singing talent and more to do with what the show producer and what Star want.

By the way just a small aside, missing a sur or a harkat is no big deal in a recording studio, which is why even if you are inconsistent in a live setting you can still be a good playback singer. What matters is voice quality, throw, emotion in your tonal quality, extremely good ear for the rhythm, range and if you have all this, last but not the least, being good buddies with the “who is who” in the industry ;-)

He has proved that he is the only promising singer among VOI contestants. And we like to listen him again & again. then why?why?why? he is in last three.
And all non-Toshi lovers plz don’t try to answer me by saying that he can only sing one genre of songs, he has already proved this wrong or some other is better than him, Toshi Is The Best

    Well Said Shashi..

I don’t understand why people are reacting so much to Jatin’s comments. Just ignore if you don’t like what he says.

Coming back to the discussion, now it feels good to read this blog with some healthy discussions going on. Well, it is a fact that there are tons of Toshi fans..But what we need to see is weather he wins the title or not? And again as Pandit Harihar Shastri said, winning is different from being successful in bollywood playback singing.

I really don’t see a lot of IRFAN fans here but I do feel that he sings from the bottom of his heart and has experimented all GENRE of songs ( Guys…no offense to anybody but its not pronounced as JONAR:-). So we should give credit to IRFAN for doing this and if I am not wrong justifying all the songs. There hasn’t been one performance by IRFAN which has been bad..But Harshit, Abhas, Toshi ..all of them have had bad days..Weather it is Alvida, Dil se, Key Sara Sara, Laga Chunri mein Daag..he has excelled.

Some of you have written that Abhas sang better than Ifran in the performance of Laga Chunri mein Daag..I feel completely the opposite..He proved that he can sing classical songs well as well..Again this is my opinion..I also feel bad that as such none of the judges support IRFAN. Lalit and Adesh try their best to pull IRFAN down inspite of all his great performances and Prithvi judges are busy promoting Abhilasha, Toshi, Abhas, Priyani but not Irfan..

The hindustani claim is not a drama..He genuinely felt that it is not a good thing to do and raised his voice for it. So I dont think he is gaining any sympathy for it like Harshit through her dadi..I feel IRFAN is the most professional in his attitude as a contestant. ( he has NEVER tried to gain sympathy through family/monetary issues, has never forgotten lyrics and has never badmouthed for wild card entry route)

For me the Top 3 should be IRFAN, TOSHI AND ABHAS/PRIYANI..Not a fan of Hasrhit at all..his singing is too simple w/o any impact on the ears..

I feel bad for Abhilasha as she came till Top 4 and after this Wild Card Entry drama, she fell back and got eliminated..I think she has oodles of talents, just needs to hone her skills and she will be a great playback singer.

And yes, last but not the least..A BIG THANK YOU to Shashi for doing a great job on this blog and making the videos available for people like us who depend online in a timely manner. Really appreciate it!!

I have just seen the promo of Rani Mukherjee episode. In the promoI see Abhijeet dancing with her.

Its sad that a man with such a communal outlook is enjoying himself in the show.

Its sad that incidents of 28th September regarding Abhijeet’s outbursts were not reported in any news papers or news channels.

This means this inhuman soul enjoys strong clout with the media.

Well Mr Jatin for your kind information Toshi is not in Danger Zone, infact he won the Bike ( wohoooo ) because he is the top scorer of this week. Now dont feel bad but its like a slap on your face lol .. ishmeet’s voice is sweet but you just can not compare him with Toshi or Irfan or Harshit . For me
Abhilasha’s Voice is Better than Priyani’s voice,
ishmeet’s Voice is Better than Abhilasha’s voice,
Abhas’s Voice is Better than ishmeet’s voice,
Harshit’s Voice is Better than Abhas’s voice,
Irfan’s Voice is Better than Harshit’s voice,
and Toshi’s Voice is Better than Irfan’s voice.
so for me Toshi is Voice Of India and Toshi,Irfan and Harshit are Top 3.
And For them who keep saying that Toshi can sing only classical so please go and watch and hear his each and every performance and then compare harshit and Toshi. you will get you answer.

What’s irritating in your comments, atleast to me, is your claim about Abhijeet’s “communal outlook”. You are trying to, completely incorrectly so, sell the idea that Abhijeet said what he did because of Ishmeet’s religion. THAT’s why I think you should wither and go away. There is no indication that Abhijeet was motivated by Ishmeets religion, and sadly for you, what he said was absolutely right. I’ve always felt the Ishmeet landing up in top 12 was unfortunate.

  64. By Desi on Oct 12, 2007 | Reply

And no, I’m NOT against people from any particular background. Just in case you try to splatter me with that same claim. The only person who’s spouting ‘communalism’ here is you, Jatin.

I would simply ignore your comments, but it’s irritating to see someone talking unreasonably and so frequently.

I was so disappointed in reading the results posted on Tuesday that Toshi was in the bottom 3, I couldnt bring my head around to the fact that Yes he sung bad on Sunday but after so much fuss was made for him after he was eliminated and now that he is back how can u justify the results…but I am happy to say that he got the higgest votes !! It will be a huge boost to his confidence…Yay for the ppl that voted for him..

I was totally blown away by Abhilasha and Priyanis performances..the girls were AMAZING..I have to say and this is what I love abt Priyanis personality, that even when she found out that she was in the bottom 3, she came back and gave a great preformance..awesome…I hope she continues in the show..

Is it me or is Abhas just annoying now, hes antics are getting annoying day by day, but then again I dont like his singing and I guess I may be just pissed that others appericate his singing..I just cant get into this singing, I get this nasal effect in the end..:S

I must add Rani was a stunner..I just wished she didnt speak in english..the accent hurts my ears..

As much as the show is a classic star plus soap, I have to say as long as they keep Toshi on stage I shall be a loyal veiwer..

    Guys,
First of all let me thank $ashi for taking off moderation. I think that is the right decision. Thank you $ashi. Secondly to all bloggers, I sincerely urge you to ignore rude comments either from Jatin or from anyone. If you chooose to reply to these comments (as I did once or twice), you only encourage these bloggers to write more of the rubbish. And finally they have the right to say what they want. If they dislike the popular candidate, they have the right to say so. In the end this blog is owned by $ashi and if he decided democracy is too much, he might choose to put in some controls.

So for people like Jatin my message is freedom is good – dont abuse it otherwise the alternative (pseudo democracy/ censorship/ authoritarian rule) is not really beautiful. So express your views (and you can be aggressive about those), but stay within civic decency.

Sometimes when you see injustice happening, like I felt when Abhilasha, who I find as an averager performer, was given chances after chances, you want to speak out negatively against that candidate. As long as you express these views in decent language you will enjoy freedom, otherwise, you will not.

Lastly I would really urge people from now onwards to ignore indecent bloggers. The less importance you give to them, the less incentive they have to type rubbish.

Rest is upto you. You are all wise.

    Regards
    John Galt

Point taken Mr Galt :) . I only decided to address Jatin because what he was saying was designed to rile religious sentiments (ofcourse it didn’t work but I still felt the urge).

In any case, I feel happy that Abhilasha is going to be out. Save for Ishmeet everyone else does a better job than her on this show among the 6 that remain. Priyani had improved a lot after coming on top 12, but her last 2 performances have been a bit irritating. Her high notes almost tore up my eardrums! She needs to get her act straight.

I used to be an ardent follower of this show, and have followed almost all of it … bit it’s lost a lot of its charm with ever more drama. It’s very relieving that Abhas and Toshi were brought back from the eliminations, without them it would just have been a travesty. I don’t particularly care of Toshi’s voice suits a particular kind of songs, he’s just a pleasure to listen to. Abhas goes overboard sometimes but he does really well otherwise.

I hope Toshi, Abhas and Irfan are in the top 3. I also hope that Harshit remains till top 4 but gets eliminated after that.

    Hi to every one…
Its my first comment on this blog but i read it time to time and guess that most of peoples like TOSHI and think that toshi is the VOI well let see what happend in future but in my point of view TOSHI is not a VOI….yes he is good singer but not in all kind of songs even when he give his first performance “Piya re Piya re” one of the judge says that u sing better then the origanal song its totally wrong because the orignal song is sung by “USTAD NUSRUT FATEH ALI KHAN” the person who RULE the music world every industry intrusted to work with him BollyWood/LollyWood and HOllyWood and he gives his spectacular effords to all industries its imposible that TOSHI is better then USTAD NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN number one joking statement by one of the judge.
i listen TOSHI all songs but i never ever satisfied with his performance bcz every time he makes a mistakes in his singing plus his voice is not a perfact voice for all kinds of playback songs.
And Rush4U you are absolutly right that There hasn’t been one performance by IRFAN which has been bad..But Harshit, Abhas, Toshi ..all of them have had bad days..Weather it is Alvida, Dil se, Key Sara Sara, Laga Chunri mein Daag plus bheege bheege si ..he has excelled.
even he is the only one guy in VOI who have ability to sung all kinds of song and he proved it by his performance and from judges end Adesh & Lalit try their best to pull IRFAN down and support to HARSHIT & TOSHI..Some times abheejet support IRFAN but not enough which actualy IRFAN deserved.
i have bit of knowledge about music , learn music and play music i involved in classical music…im not a singer but im musician.. in my opinion IRFAN is the only guy who is actual VOI irfan has a quality to sing all kind of song and he have ability to sing in low and high scale…and full control on his voice with out any change between all note’s and its a actual quality being a singer TOSHI need more time and practice to come on this stage where IRFAN is currently standing.
if my statments hurt any when then sorry for that but dear its a truth and for me there is not top 3 there is only one and that is IRFAN thats all…im not intrusted that what would be the end bcz there is only DRAMA going on in VOI but there is only one performer “IRFAN IRFAN IRFAN”
    thats all

Finally my hardwork of last 16 days on this blog has paid off, Abhijeet was forced to apologise to Ishmeet. Though the apology came a bit too late.Ishmeet was generous enough to forgive him.

Ishmeet sang very well yesterday. Infact the competition between Toshi & Ishmeet was good. Rani Mukherjee was outstanding in the show. Rani rightly pointed out that Ishmeet’s voice is best suited for playback singing.

Ishmeet can be a very good play back singer for romantic numbers. His voice is very sweet and pleasing to the ears. Toshi is more suited for singing Sufiana Kalams and Qawallis. He can not be a good play back singer. His voice is quite hoarse not sweet at all.

So guys wake up vote for the man of character, man with a clean heart and sweet voice, who is one and only Ishmeet.

Rani Mukherjee was great in the show. Infact she won everybody’s hearts. She made all the judges dance. It was funny to see Aadesh Shrivastava flirting with her. This was probably the best show of VOI.

Rani is truly a star. She is a great entertainer and a nice & jovial person.

Dear Jatin I am very happy that your hardwork of 16 days paid off, when Abhijeet finally accepted that he was wrong on his comments made indirectly on Ishmeet.Thru these columns I would request all the judges that they should be fair to all the participants and should not praise any participants in particularas Adesh ji and Lalit ji often do for e.g.in episode of 12th. Oct.’07 what message Adesh ji want to give to the public by giving his finger ring to Toshi on the stage when he did not sang up to his ability,it means he is favouring a particular participant he is not fair to others,I would once again say that judges should be fair to all the participants.I would also like to ask here that Why? the judges and the Director of this show are giving step-motherly treatment to Ishmeet and Irfan who are the cream of this show as they are not the copycats as others.

  86. By jatin on Oct 13, 2007 | Reply

    Dear Jaswant,

You are absolutely right Ishmeet and Irfan are the cream of this show. They are genuine talent.

I fail to understand why is everybody going ga-ga over Toshi.

Genuine talent of Ishmeet & Irfan is being ignored.

My appeal to all Toshi fans like Dinesh etc is to wake up and not support a contestant blindly.

Irfan is going to suffer the most because of Toshi’s comeback.

The proof of my observation is that Irfan is in danger zone this week. This talented singer might be eliminated soon because of that over-hyped, hoarse-voiced Toshi.

IRFAN in chakravat?????????Is this some kind of a joke??

People, please wake up and vote for the real talent..I am shocked that Irfan is in chakravat..I have to rely on online voting which doesnt work lot of times and I have noticed that they close the voting lines before Sunday 12 o clock lot of times..This is unfair for people who want to vote online..

IRFAN you truly are a rockstar and a performer. We, fans of yours will pray and wish for your success. In case you don’t win the VOI title, it does not matter becuase the fact is you have a long way to go..

    IRFAN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!Please vote for him..

And Toshi, he is a great singer, undeniable but stop praising him more than what he deserves..

  89. By Deepak on Oct 13, 2007 | Reply

I would like to add on to wat Rush4u said I have seen many ppl praise Toshi Abhaas n Harshit. Toshi is deserving no doubt but i’d like to say even the other singers like Irfan Ishmeet Priyani are good. I kno Toshi Harshit have huge fan followings but guys dont u think others too deserve some words of praise the judges favor a few singers and the public also favors a few my worry n concern is tat in all this real talent should not be affected I personally feel Abhaas though he is a good singer over does things because of judges praising n lifting him too much. with due respects to Harshit and his dhadi i’d jus like to say every1 here sings for some reason n purpose the judges shouldnt hype this dhadi sentiment way too much to influence voters. Give due credit to each singer n judge them on how they sing n not based wat these dumb judges say. For me i’d like to see Toshi Irfan n Priyani in the top three. Priyani she may have flattered at places but she has come back good everytime she has been put down we must appreciate and respect tat n vote for deserving ppl. I vote online but the thing i find is tat its not functioning many a times and if it does it restricts on how many votes u can cast but in the show they claim give as many votes as u wish to for ur fav participants. In sms n calls i guess its no restrictions as they get money n commission out of it while online voting nothin much for the producers

Hey Irfan in chakravath. This is unbelievable. People please recognize the real talent. He is the only one who can sing all types of songs.

Abhas is a good singer but he needs little maturity in voice.
As we all know Hashit is a copycat.

I would see like to see Irfan, Toshi and priyani as top 3. I would like to see those 3 fighting for the title.

    Irfan Rocks.
    Please vote for Irfan.

What i have written above is the pattern of voting in reality shows. People like Irfan suffer due to such voting. When Toshi was there earlier Irfan always used to be in Chakravat, but as soon as Toshi left Irfan started getting lots of votes and was secure. Sometimes he got maximum votes.

Irfan would hv had a cakewalk if wildcard rounds were not held. He would hv blown away Harshit & Ishmeet.

But now due to biased attitude of judges towards Toshi, our Irfan is on verge of elimination

Have you heard about a frog in a well? You are precisely that.

All you can think of is “communal” stuff. Earlier it was aboout Abhijeet and Ishmeet. Now its about Irfan and Toshi, except that this time around, for obvious reasons, what you are saying is even more ridiculous. If, as you say, Hindus can vote for Toshi, why cant they vote for Irfan?

Your comments and your mindset are shameful. Giving a well-reasoned answer to your comments is an exercise in futility because of the communal black tinted goggles you are wearing, you are incapable of seeing something for what it is.

You are incapable of seeing the beauty of this world. You are incapable of seeing that people can just love music without caring about the religion of the artist. You are incapable of seeing that Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Adnan, to take two examples, are appreciated by everyone, just because they are great artists. You are incapable of seeing that Mohammad Rafi sahab and Kishore Kumar are equally venerated by millions of Indian today. So on and so forth…

You are incapable of seeing any of this. You are capable of imagining only darkness and evil and thats what you also keep preaching.

Wake up brother. Give it a try to do something positive. Try to share some good positive thoughts. Allow some goodness to creep inside you. You can do it.

Today’s Result came with elimination of Abhilasha!!! This is really shocking. I cannot believe this. She has so much talent in her early age. She has perfect voice & She sings like a professional singer. This is totally injustice. I can’t imagine what is happening. People are not recognizing real talent. Watching & listening the background story of Toshi & by showing the blind grandmother of Harshit are diverting them. This is really bad way of earning vote. Common India wake up!!! Please not let this do. Firstly entering Abhas on the basis of Judge power made one big mistake. Second big mistake was done when Priyani entered again. Three people entered at a time. What does this mean? Does not it like the wasting of hard work of those four contestants, who were in already final four? This is totally injustice at all…
This is request from my side that please doesn’t flow in emotional side of a contestant, while recognize the real talent. From today I am quitting this show.

    Guys,
I will keep re-inforcing : Try not to have a dialogue with crazy bloggers. If you see the posts above each time you had a dialogue with a rude blogger, he writes back with more rubbish. these type of bloggers are craving for attention. Dont give it to them.

Anoop you are right in expressing your frustration, but moderation is not an answer. Every thing reaches eventual equilibrium. Once people realise that responding to such demented bloggers is a sheer waste of their time, they will stop doing so, which in turn will reduce the quantity of nonsense coming from the demented bloggers. They will not get the “high” that they are currently getting by seeing so many people irritated by their antics, and they will find something else to do.

I know its tempting to request $ashi to weed out such bloggers. But you cannot stop them, where one goes, another will take his place. If you choose moderation, its high workload for $ashi to manage all the posts besides posting videos. It is not sustainable. Also more importantly, we should not practice on internet what we dont like seeing in real life (censorhip on content or curbing freedom of expression, speech). Dont worry, eventually there will be equilibrium, as long as good people keep posting wise comments and have decent arguments/ debates.

I am currently waiting for $ashi to upload the videos before I can comment on this week’s performances.

After watching VOI for a few months, it’s getting really confusing. I can totally understand how some singers are getting demoralized due to frequent and spontaneous “rule” changes (does anyone know what the rules are??), wildcard entries, eliminations due to who knows?!
I would love to see Priyani and Ishmeet in top 2, and would like to see if the wild card “spontaneously” reappears in the show.
I really didn’t enjoy the elimination of Abhilasha, as she was in top 4, then eliminated shortly after, as #7. Hard to see how the rankings or votes mean anything. Drama and judges seem to run the show. It’s sad, because this started out as such a nice show, very enjoyable, but now it’s just a confused mess of random rulings, wildcards, judges favorites (judges shouldn’t be involved with the singers in any way – conflict of interest!!), just overall mismanagement of the competition. Now I see the face of the singers, especially Irfan, Harshit, and Ishmeet – they look tired, stressed, and unsure of what is going to happen next. Good luck to the actual top 3 singers!

    To Anjani:

I can understand your feelings about Abhas… after all you are but another Toshi-fan with tone-deaf ears. Irfan is good mid-range singer — but Toshi? He just doesn’t have the vocal qualities since his voice cracks over and over.

As for the people who “appreciate Abhas for his singing” – they are all from the top strata of society and are not obligated to praise him in any way.

Those who are challenging Toshi’s capability are basically saying that their musical knowledge is greater than that of Jagjit Singh, Begum Parveen Sultana, Khayyam, Kalyanji, Ravindra Jain, several other qualified judges. I think its best as John Galt said, to ignore such unqualified tone deaf bloggers. YOU cannot compare Irfan with Toshi. Irfan’s singing is dull and he focses more on dancing with Isha Kopikkar than singing. I find his singing lifeless, no commitment, no involvement, except for the Laga Chunri Mein Daag that he sand with Abhas.

For starters, there’s been something unusual going on and not too many comments on the topic, and that’ our dear moderators absence from the blog. $ashi, hope everything is allright at your end! :)

Coming to what Anoop and John said, I’d like to agree with the views of Anoop here. John, I think u missed the point he made about utopia. Real world is not Utopia. And how many really understand that a right also entails a duty? For eg. although I’ve a right to freedom of expression, that does not allow me to start screaming obscenities standing outside my neighbor’s door every night. Or start preaching hatred for that matter. You can look at as censorhip, which in this case I dont it is, or required policing. Also I can see the affect of all the trash percolating through to other readers.

And “dogs”, what Anoop has talked about in his last few mails is not about Toshi, its about getting a communal angle in everything Jatin has to say.

Also, its not at all necessary that everyone agree regarding a particular singer being the best, be it Toshi or Irfaan or Ishmeet or Priyaani or Abhaas etc. After all thats why there are so many artists in the market today, each appeals to his/ her own fans. The only thing to keep in mind is, lets not start disparaging one and using abusive language for the one we dont like. Write all the praise for the one you like, criticize the one you dont, on relevant points, but always stay within the realm of decency. That should not be too hard! :)

    Hi Seeker,
Good comments. I agree that this blog belongs to Sashi. Just as we have the right to dictate how things are done in our house or who is allowed to enter our house and who isnt, so also Sashi has right to decide what he wants to do with this blog. He can block bad bloggers or he can moderate the blog.
I am simply saying moderation is a two edged sword. It is quite tempting to ask for controls if you notice nusiance comments or behaviour, however, be warned that history is replete with examples where good intented moderation eventually always becomes broader and broader. See what has happened to US now after 9/11. Government spies on their own citizens, people who compared Iraq with Vietnam were ostracised by the government. Closer to home, China is perfect example of fully bloomed moderation – internet is heavily moderated so that chinese people cannot read about democracy and western criticism of China. Singapore pretends to be a democracy, but is actually an authoritarian rule. Public gatherings without government permissions are banned and considered unpatriotic.
There is no stopping once you embark on the path of moderation. Moderation is like a seek. If you plant it, it will grow and it will bear the fruits it is supposed to bear – posionous berries.

Anyway, again I must say – it is Sashi’s blog and democracy, property rights dictate that he can choose whatever policy he wishes within his blog.

I am still waiting for Sashi to upload the videos so that we can all go ahead and re-focus on the music.

Anjani, you can vote from NZ in the same way. I am also from NZ and I have voted several times through the VOI official website.

I still believe that Sumitra’s elimination is unfair and that she should be given a second chance. I agree with Bavneet its all a farce and the organisers of this show are not able to stick to the format. They were just out of wits to plan for the episode just before the wild card entries otherwise Sumitra would not have been caught in such a situation. Shame on all the judges and organisers. When Abhaas or Toshi went out Jatin and Abhijeet were vociferous in their condemnation of the public but when it was Sumitra’s turn there was not even a comment. Well if thats the format then she should be given a better chance for the wild card entry and more preparation time. 1 hour between 2 episodes is just terrible especially when you have just been through the trauma of getting eliminated. Regarding all the Talk about Toshi and rest. I want to tell you ppl that Harshit will be the VOI not because he’s a good singer but because he has got a lot of “Voters” to vote for him. In such talent shows good singing will not help them to win only you need to be popular, get sympathy, look good and do some emotional appeals and of course on a sad note, be from a particular region.

    Barking dogs seldom bite.

It was nice to hear of 9/11 cases but we are discussing here VOI and music. If we talk about 9/11, then we should must talk about Dubai, as per the new World order, Dubai is the heaven for black money holders. Singapore, Malaysia and China was champions in the past but not any more.
Facts and figures says, more than 200 BILLION DIRHAMS spend only in property sector in Dubai, then comes Construction, Infrastructure, investment and others, that is almost more than a TRILLION DIRHAMS..

Any ways, we are only her to chat about MUSIC and TALENT. Let’s concentrate on this topic and not be so Philosophical that real issue gets out of the hands.

It would be (I think) 10 plus chances for Ishmeet’s fans here, and they need to finally choose their own road by now.

Abhilasha’s elimination was a big shock to me, a talented singer of such high calibre has been eliminted at the cost of a WCE contestant Priyani who is not aware of the seven sargams of music and who is braught in by the unjustified and unfair judges. I would request people of India to protest for this as Priyani did in my opinion Priyani stands at zero in front of Abhilasha,Abhilasha should be brought in by way of DOUBLE WIDE CARD ENTRY, or Priyani must be eliminated on 19th.Oct.07, otherwise 100′s of families will not witness VOI after 19th.Oct 07 this is my gaurantee, nothing more.

I have been witnessing VOI from the very first episode to the last episode of 13th.Oct 07 and have come to the conclusion that all the judges and the Director of the show are not fair, leaving a side the host Mr.Shaan, who in real sense a gem, because on many episodes the judges were not sure who is singing better, as in one episode Jatin ji praised high for Abhaas and in the next he thrown him down to earth, sameway in one episode Abhijeet took Ishmit to the highest peak and in the next he criticised him as if he is the biggest enemy of his, so likewise it happened oftenly, sometimes Alka ji sometimes Adesh ji and sometimes Lalit ji, I am still in a fix who is right and who is wrong, therefore I would request all the judges to please be fair and should not be partial, your hereto bring out the talented singer for the country no matter he is learned or not, I hope the judges have followed me, ALL THE JUDGES SHOULD BE FAIR. Please do not play with the sentiments of the contestants. Thats all…Thanks

    Dear Friends,

This is the first post of mine in this great forum. I am a great fan of SVOI. Because it’s a real entertaining program. But sometimes I become confused that really SVOI is a talent hunting program or a commercial entertaining program. There is an another big problem of such shows (Also Sare Ga Ma Pa, Indian Idol)result depends on people’s votes. Which shouldn’t be. Then what is the necessity of judges out there if all depends on peoples votes. What horrible things happened regarding this we already found in Indian Idol & Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Grand Finals). I was very much shocked when Prashant became Indian Idol while Amit not. Amit was much telanted & better singer than Prashant. Even Prashant should eliminated long before compare to
others (Chang, Emon, Ankita, Parveen). More horrible things happened at Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. When Anik Dhaur Became the first champ while Raza deserved to be and he must. But all things happened only for peoples emotions & lack of knowledge. But I really don’t want to see the same things
at Voice of India as this is my favorite program among them. My request is to rule such this way, the results should happened on 50% votes from the judges & the 50% votes counted from peoples. I don’t know why Ishmeet is still in the contest while others are much much better than him. Ishmeet is still there on for peoples emotions which should not be in such programs. According to me if the 3 finalists should be in SVOI they are undoubtedly:

    1. Toshi
    2. Harshit
    3. Irfan

And among them the singer who mostly deserve to be no. 1 is Toshi. Toshi is such a singer who rarely founds. But I don’t know what will happened. I hope this time the great people of India will be more concern & will vote for the best one (After watching what they did at Indian Idol & Sa Re Ga Ma Pa).
If I hurt anyone through this post then please accept my early appology. But I believe you will all also gonna agree with me.

    Take care.

    Antar

Why man removed my Post….thought i have not used the bad words???
This is the proof that nobody wants to listen, read, think and trust on truth….
again proved SACH TO HAMESHA KADAVA HOTA HAIN….
Elimation round of such shows are really horible…I mean they beahves with the contestents as everybody among them has to die (like a tern of the villeger to go will meal to serve BAKASUR in MAHABHARATA)….or like everybody is suffered from some noncurable dicese and each one is dying like in hollywood move….
