   AFTER SEEING YESTERDAY’S EPISODE, I HAVE NOTICED ONE THING, THAT THE LEARNED JUDGES ENCOURAGE EACH & EVERY CONTESTANT EXCEPT ONE i.e. ISHMEET. THE JUDGES ATTITUDE TOWARDS HIM IS BAFFLING.EVEN AFTER HE WON THE BIKE NO BODY CONGRATULTED OR CHEERED HIM AS THEY HAD DONE TO TOSHI.

   ONE MORE THING THAT I AM SURE NO BODY MUST HV NOTICED IN YESTERDAY’S EPISODE IS ABHIJEET’S STRONG DISLIKE FOR HIMESH RESHAMIYA. WHEN TOSHI SANG HIMESH’S SONG “TADAP”, EVERYBODY WAS DANCING AND BUSY CHEERING HIM, BUT HIS MAIN WELL-WISHER ABHIJEET WAS SITTING QUIETLY, EXPRESSIONLESS. NOW ABHIJEET HATES HIMESH SO MUCH THAT HE WAS NOT PREPARE TO CHEER EVEN TOSHI WHEN HE SANG HIMESH SONG.

   Really unfair to priyani. Harshit should have got eliminated. He clearly misses when he sings with Irfan or Toshi. Ismeets performance is one of his best. I feel Irfan, Toshi and Abhas should be in top 3. Earlier some one said Toshi can sing all types of songs. But he can only sing one type of songs. I am sure he is going to excel in saturdays episode as they are going to sing qawalis. None can beat him.

   Today and yesterday… Toshi rocked the stage with his performance…. whoever says he can sing only one type of song is wrong…. “Tadap” is not a classical song… and obviously not a qawali…. it didn’t have anything to do with alap (sargam) but Toshi performed brilliantly… yesterdays best performance was “tadap” by Toshi…
   As of today…. Toshi sang “Allahu”… and he chose the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan version of the song… as you all know this song has been performed by almost all of the greatest Ustad’s. In my view this is one of the toughest song’s of Late Nusrat Fatheh Ali Khan Sahib… one of my favorite… i didn’t expect anyone to sing this song with such justification… actually in many shows many people have tried to sing this song… but without success… Toshi sang superbly today… my second choice today will be Irfan’s “Piya Haji Ali”… he sang it beautifully… Abhas also performed very well… he has the classical training… and knows how to do justification to a song…

   People Please Vote for Toshi.

   Dear Rushdi,
   AllaHu is a Qawwali and not a song. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Saheb is uncrowned maestro of Qawwalis and this is one of the greatest of all times. He has performed it at so many occasions. I’ve seen live version of this Qawwali, and believe me, if you actually eavesdrop to it with your heart and mind, it takes you to another world.

   Toshi has done full justice by singing this Qawwali and I’m sure no one else in VOI could have done it so luminously.

   Omigosh! Toshi and Irfan were so amazing today. Toshi’s performance made me give him a standing ovation from home, while Irfan made me cry and give him a standing ovation. Both were simply outstanding. And it was so cruel of Agni judges to give Irfan 8 when both Toshi and Abhas got 9. I have a feeling Ishmeet is going to be eliminated this week. Finally this episode showed that he cannot go far without learning music, even though his voice is adorable and sweet.
   I wish Toshi had sung the Sabri brothers version of Allah Hoo, seeing that he comes from that lineage. It would have been a treat to hear.
   Harshit was horrible – worse than Ishmeet who atleast sounded sweet if not technically strong. I hope he gets out instead of Ishmeet. Never liked him anyway.
   Irfan and Toshi should be the top two, and in all fairness, Abhas wasn’t as good as these two in a round which had a real music form instead of popular numbers.

   dear Ateeq,
   thanks for ur comments… my mistake… i should have written qawwali.. instead of song… “sama” would have been a better word… though i guess many of you don’t know what a “sama” is…

   i am in love with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s qawwali’s and gazals… Allahu is one of mys most favorite… i have a 20 live performance version in my collection… if u people want it i can upload it on rapidshare…. but that’s not the point…

   Ateeq thank you again for supporting Toshi… and do write the about his performances in this blog…

   Dear Rushdi,
   Initially I was scared of correcting between Qawwali and songs, as these days, you get attacked if you say something against others wishes, especially in this blog. !! (Just kidding).

   Well Thank you first for taking my comments in the right spirit. I believe you are more knowledgeable on classical singing.

   I’m bowled over on Toshi Performance. He has staggered many of his critics today. This performance has shown his real hidden talent, that allot of other listeners were not aware of. He started his journey with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahabs song “Piya Re”, later he again picked Khan Sahab’s songs on Wild Card Entry episode and today again Khan Saheb. All 3 performances have won everyone’s heart including judges, because Toshi has good experience of singing this kind of genre. On the other hand, Toshi sings other genres quite perfectly as well (Teri Deewani, is a great example). Therefore, in my opinion, and if justice is shown, Toshi should be crowned as Voice of India.

   Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab is favorite of millions, including you me and Toshi. While talking about “Sama” (I might be wrong & often I am), basically its meaning is “Hearing” and is a borrowed word from Persian that refers to various spiritual ceremonies. Sama represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent through mind and love to “Perfect.” In this journey the seeker symbolically turns towards the truth, grows through love, abandons the ego, finds the truth, and arrives at the “Perfect”; then returns from this spiritual journey with greater maturity, so as to love and to be of service to the whole of creation without discrimination against beliefs, races, classes and nations. Some people call it “Religious Ecstasy” as well, because it forces people to start whirling (Europeans calls them Whirling Dervishes!) and reaches state of “Wajad” (altered state of consciousness).

   what a pity.. harshit got 8, 8..ishmit got 6,7..was that fair??and some crappy judge also gave irfan 8? ishmeet was a qawali and real qawali…he is totally untrained singer and still he sung it very well…judges want him out next time but ustad amjad ali khan’s comments may save him and ppl are not blind..they all know what is the aukaat of jatin lalit and abhijeet..toshi is a trained singer in everything..classical and qawali..he is from sabri background and they were famous qawals.so its not a surprise as far as toshi is concerned..he is very good singer all round..better than others..this show is a lot relegious baised…why was toshi not asked to sing second time???this is a show which is decided by ppl and thier votes..not by these crappy and failed judges..its based on ppl’s sentiments and emotions..there is lot of discouragement for poor ishmeet..he basically doesnt belong to any prithvi or agni..even if he is not singing well as per the judge’s benchmark, they should atleast encourage him..if a nepali can become indian idol because of huge nepali support in certain parts of india and nepal then why not toshi or ishmeet??whats the problem, they are indians right..ishmeet voice quality is far better than indian idol winner..if voting trends are true and there is no manipulation then ishmeet is safe..there is lots of emotions attached which cant be explained here..here ppl dont vote because of ur singing qualities….and one more thing, abhijeet saying that he is big fan of ishmeet doesnt ame any sense at all.. though abhijeet is a good playback singer, if he had tried to singh same qawali which ishmeet sung, his aukat would have come out..

    Ishmeet will win the contest despite of the biased attitude of the so called Judges by winning millions of hearts. what an innocent , soft, melodious voice he possess….

    Ishmeet would have been out in the first round itself if it would have in the hands of the judges. And that is what should have happened. The program is not about encouraging people. It is to find a better singer for bollywood. Someone who can sing like Kishore or Rafi. Or even better. Toshi can only sing like sukhwinder singh. Sufi kind of songs. Harshit or Abhash would be the best candidate to win the VOI contest. They can sing anything.
    Talking about the judges, Someone above said something about Jatin-Lalit. That they are faliurs as a music director. You are talking about someone who has delivered in films like Yes Boss, Khiladi, Dilwale dulhaniya le jaenge, Dillagi, Gulam, Kabhi haan Kabhi na, Raju ban gaya Gentleman, Kuch Kuch hota hai, Hum Tum, Sangharsh, Mohabbatein, Khamoshi, Pyar kiya toh darna kya, Sarfarosh, Fanna, gangster etc. Do I need to say how the songs were in all of these films. There are so many more I can’t mention. I cannot argue if someone is a big fan of A.R Rehman. Hard to convince. I would say two pcs. of Drums ,a flute and few girls in the choras is alllll about it. But for me I think the judges in VOI are really good.
