THE ENTIRE EPISODE OF 9TH FEBRUARY WAS JUST A TAMASHA . FOR THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THAT NO ONE HAD MADE ANY REAL EFFORTS TO MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARD OF THIS GREAT PROGRAMME
THIS IS A PURE MUSIC SHOW THEN WHY MAKE EVERYONE SHED TEARS AND BECOME EMOTIONAL. EVEN THE PARTICIPANTS WERE ENGULFED WITH EMOTIONS AND THAT HAD ADVERSE EFFECT ON THEIR PERFORMANCE . WHY AISHWARYA’S MOTHER WAS ALLOWED TO NARRATE A TOUCHING INCIDENT JUST BEFORE HER DAUGHTER WAS TO PERFORM IN CRUCIAL ROUND? BAD DIRECTION. THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR PERSONAL MATTERS IN MUSIC SHOW.IN SHORT IT WAS ONE OF THE ORDINARY EPISODES DUE TO FOLLOWIG REASONS:
1. SONG SELECTION ORDINARY .THERE ARE SOME LILTING LORIS COMPOSED BY SHANKER- JAIKISHIN,RAVI, NAUSHAD ,C.RAMCHANDRA WHICH WERE COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED.
2.ALL PARTICIPANTS SANG WITHOUT ANY PREPARATION. ANVESHA AISHWARYA SONYA VYOM SONDED QUITE ORDINARY.VYOM EVEN FORGOT HIS LINES AND THE POOR CHAP WAS SCOLDED BY HIS MOTHER .THIS BEHAVIOUR WOULD DEMORALISE YOUNG PERFORMER.
3. THE ORCHESTRA SOUDED RATHER DULL .HAVE THE MUSICIANS BEEN PAID FOR THEIR JOB? THE VOI ORCHESTRA IS THE REAL STRENGTH OF THE SHOW AND THE MUSICIANS WERE OFF COLOUR IN THIS EPISODE. JEETU SHANKAR’S MAGIC ON TABLA WAS BADLY MISSED.
4.WHY PRAKRITI WAS ELIMINATED AND THEN CALLED BACK?SHE IS BETTER THAN SONYA WHO IS TOO YOUNG TO IMPRESS WITH HER VOICE QUALITY.
5 THE JUDGES BUNGLED IN SELECTING RIGVED AS WILD CARD ENTRANT.THE BOY PERFORMED MISERABLY. A FEMALE PARTICIPANT FROM JHODPUR WAS MUCH BETTER SINGER BUT SHE WAS OVER LOOKED FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASONS.
6.STOP FASHION SHOW IN THIS MUSIC PROGRAMME. PAY MORE ATTENTION TO SINGING RATHER THAN DRESSING THE PARTICIPANTS IN FUNNY COSTUMES. IT WAS COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. THERE WAS NEED FOR TWO ROUNDS OF SONGS FOR PERFORMERSIN MUSIC SHOW.
SAVING GRACE OR PLUS POINTS:
1. AISHWARYA SANG SOJA RAJKUMARI SOJA—FEELINGLY WHICH REVEALED HER GREAT TALENT.
2. ABAAS GOT A CHANCE TO RENDER A FEW SONGS WHICH WAS NEEDED MOST IN THIS DULL EPISODE. HE WAS AT HIS BEST WHEN HE SANG DIL KE JARONKO SE — AN AWARD WINNING COMPOSITION OF SHANKAR-JAIKISHAH.HOWEVER ORCHESTRA COULD HAVE BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE.
3. PRAKRITI GIRI’S RE-ENTRY MUST HAVE BEEN WELCOMED BY HER INNUMERABLE FANS. HER SINGING IS AWAYS IN SUR THOUGH WITHOUT ANY EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS. SHE PROVIDES VARIETY AMONG PARTICIPANTS. SHE SHOULD BE IN TOP THREE ALONGWITH AISHWARYA AND ANVESHA.
IF GAJENDRA SINGH IS BUSY WITH SOME NEW ASSIGNMENTS HE BETTER HANDOVER DIRECTION TO ASHWINI SINGH WHO HAS ALREADY DIRECTED SOME EPISODES OF THIS SHOW IN THE PAST QUITE COMPETENTLY.
I disagree, Prakriti’s singing is not always in sur, infact it is rarely in sur at all. Her singing always falls flat and she never displays any expression or emotion when she performs. Her voice quality is also not that great, she sounds like a kid, which is just as well, ’cause she is a kid. It’s just that her voice hasn’t developed properly yet and she’s just too young for this competition. She wasn’t even the best singer in the wildcard round and contestants like Gitashree, Jayant and Areeb all performed better in that day and are generally better singers than her (even Alpansh, the first one eliminated, was better). Despite all of this she still manages to attain ridiculous amounts of votes on a weekly-basis. I’m just baffled as to why this happens. Don’t get me wrong, she seems like an incredibly sweet girl, but what I am trying to convey is my frustration at the public for overlooking the fact that there were other candidates far more deserving to make it into the show as wildcard entrants than Miss ‘Pahari Dragon’ Prakriti.

I wonder why it is necessary for Mr. Gajendra Singh to mention the participant’s state everytime and why should the partcipant’s state be revealed at all. Is he looking for a talent and fair voting or is he trying to titilate people’s regional sentiments and encourage a regional race ? I find him no different than the British who benefited from the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy. The results have always been poor when regionalism has been the propaganda in the show to merely get more votes and money! I feel ashamed to be Citizen of such country where right participant donot get the justice at the end of the day and somebody calls it a day with hefty some of money. Shame on you Star Plus !

I agree with you devkishin. I just do not understand why it is necessary to have all drama in a competition ? What age are we living in ? Why should personal Traumas be brought in the show ? Shame on Gajendra Singh..I feel he has lost his basic sense of making a matured programme and I mean it. When will he realise that sensible and educated people do not like all these drama. THE STANDARD OF JUDGES/JUDGEMENT IS COMIC. MORE WILL FOLLOW.
On each and every chote ustad related site, i see discussion about prakriti giri. do you hate her or what? because she is from the NE? Don’t get me wrong but it seems so. Common people NE is our land and we are equal. Give these poor kids a break. They are trying their best. If people vote for their fav contestants, let them vote, its their will. Who are we to judge people’s individual choice? Not all in the public are musical heads and whatever they find soothing and has developed a taste in their mind – they will vote for their favorite contestant and so will the result ripe.
Not to forget that these are reality shows and drama forms part and parcel of their agenda. And not to forget also the fact that these are kids like you have at home. Don’t be a judge of your own judgement.
Harpal – I was born and brought in the NE and did my entire education in NE. I seriously do not think that Prakriti is a good singer.. she has problems with the ‘SUR’, the basic fundamentals of of singing. Also she is not technically sound as is evident from her singing… compare to Anwesha and Aishwarya.. the problem that I have is why people of NE who very well know that Prakriti falls short of technical capabilities still continue to vote her the most ? Is this fair ? Should justice prevail the other two contestants are way way ahead of Prakriti.. I find serious regional baised voting from NE.
hi avi great to have ur reply. what ever you have said above is based on your own decision, hearing and knowledge of music, but take a look at the common man who doesn’t know “A” about music. Do you think he will care in minute detail for the singing – if he finds it soothing and nice, he will go for it. So this is how Prakriti is getting the votes. All kids who r up on stage r sweet ones, prghiti too has sweet voice, sweetness tht reflects whtever she sings and after all wht this contest is about, chotey ustad , does tht mean a kid voice or matured voice? quality of background music is kind of biased it seems , too bad for few singers and too good at other times in the same show. wht r u upto guys?
v should all remeber these r kids they need guidence on selction of song like hamesh rehamya episode some kids made terrible mistakes in choice of songs while others chose duos songs with only slight hamesh flavour , so secured them from difficult mimicing which effected the level of performance of others. so kids need guidence on too retain orginality. like i am sure even matured singers wud be unable to sing anything offered to them.
so slow down and let the good voices , chose right lines and come prepared. its kids dont let them suffer for lack of home work

I totally agree with Devikishin. The contestants shouldn’t be scolded which will affect their moral. Gajjy was wrong when he said that he did not tolerate Vyom’s mistake. Actually, it was not his fault.Kunal was trying to explain to Gajji although Gajji went on blowing his own trumpet. Kunal, hats off to you for boosting Vyom’s moral and you saw how the boy came out with the best performance on the next day. In my opinion he is already the winner.

That is a huge region in India with places like Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and so on who have not been accepted by Indians as being citizens of the country. Most people don’t even know or care that they exist. And they in turn being left as an outcast in India are not that into hindi movies or songs either. Most people there are into English and their songs from their own language. Most people don’t even know about Chote Ustad there or ever watched a bollywood movie.
India is gonna have some major civil wars as is already witnessed by some outbursts of violence in some areas.
Only people in places like Assam are big fans of hindi music and bollywood culture. And they don’t really give a two hoots about a girl from Darjeeling. Its like miles away from them. Different culture etc and they have their own contestants who have done well in these music shows.
Bottom line learn your geography and also about the reality ad different people living in your own country.
By the way I am not from North East incase u were wonderin. Jus givin ya an unbiased opinion.
Jus be careful ignornace and ill treatment of minorities are the wrong way to go go go.
FYI- You have black looking, white looking, asian looking and the typical indian looking people in your country. Don’t treat people like outcast jus cause they look diff from the majority.

I guess, people really don’t want to understand the fact that these are little kids trying their best and I have found on this very blog that people have rejoiced when Prakriti was out and none of such rejoicement was seen when any of the other contestants were out and not to forget that Prakriti was not the worst lot among the contestants who were out! Anwesha is a classically trained singer (She has been trained by Jayanta Sarkar, who is known for training Aneek, the other reality-show champion). She came runner up in the Zee Bangla Saregamapa little champs show a few years ago. In that show the judges were in control of eliminations and so on, they thought Anwesha was too much of a classical singer to become the winner, and they were looking for a pop star, so someone else won instead. In Saregamapa, she sang mostly classical songs such as “kuhu kuhu bole koyalia,” and she sung them with ease. Anwesha has also already recorded a Bengali song on an album (sung brilliantly by the way), you can listen to it on hummaa.com, just type Anwesha in the search engine. The song is called Mohiyoshi.

Her voice is so melodious, it is perfect for a song like this and she she puts so much emotion into every word. I’m just amazed that she was only about 12 when she recorded this. I mean her inflections, the throw of her voice… just beautiful. In SVOI, the producers keep giving her difficult songs to sing (because they know only she can sing them properly and do them justice), but give her a melodious, surila, song like this and it’s pure magic. You’ll probably go into a trance…

THE ENTIRE EPISODE OF 9TH FEBRUARY WAS JUST A TAMASHA . FOR THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THAT NO ONE HAD MADE ANY REAL EFFORTS TO MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARD OF THIS GREAT PROGRAMME
THIS IS A PURE MUSIC SHOW THEN WHY MAKE EVERYONE SHED TEARS AND BECOME EMOTIONAL. EVEN THE PARTICIPANTS WERE ENGULFED WITH EMOTIONS AND THAT HAD ADVERSE EFFECT ON THEIR PERFORMANCE . WHY AISHWARYA’S MOTHER WAS ALLOWED TO NARRATE A TOUCHING INCIDENT JUST BEFORE HER DAUGHTER WAS TO PERFORM IN CRUCIAL ROUND? BAD DIRECTION. THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR PERSONAL MATTERS IN MUSIC SHOW.IN SHORT IT WAS ONE OF THE ORDINARY EPISODES DUE TO FOLLOWIG REASONS:
1. SONG SELECTION ORDINARY .THERE ARE SOME LILTING LORIS COMPOSED BY SHANKER- JAIKISHIN,RAVI, NAUSHAD ,C.RAMCHANDRA WHICH WERE COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED.
2.ALL PARTICIPANTS SANG WITHOUT ANY PREPARATION. ANVESHA AISHWARYA SONYA VYOM SONDED QUITE ORDINARY.VYOM EVEN FORGOT HIS LINES AND THE POOR CHAP WAS SCOLDED BY HIS MOTHER .THIS BEHAVIOUR WOULD DEMORALISE YOUNG PERFORMER.
3. THE ORCHESTRA SOUDED RATHER DULL .HAVE THE MUSICIANS BEEN PAID FOR THEIR JOB? THE VOI ORCHESTRA IS THE REAL STRENGTH OF THE SHOW AND THE MUSICIANS WERE OFF COLOUR IN THIS EPISODE. JEETU SHANKAR’S MAGIC ON TABLA WAS BADLY MISSED.
4.WHY PRAKRITI WAS ELIMINATED AND THEN CALLED BACK?SHE IS BETTER THAN SONYA WHO IS TOO YOUNG TO IMPRESS WITH HER VOICE QUALITY.
5 THE JUDGES BUNGLED IN SELECTING RIGVED AS WILD CARD ENTRANT.THE BOY PERFORMED MISERABLY. A FEMALE PARTICIPANT FROM JHODPUR WAS MUCH BETTER SINGER BUT SHE WAS OVER LOOKED FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASONS.
6.STOP FASHION SHOW IN THIS MUSIC PROGRAMME. PAY MORE ATTENTION TO SINGING RATHER THAN DRESSING THE PARTICIPANTS IN FUNNY COSTUMES. IT WAS COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. THERE WAS NEED FOR TWO ROUNDS OF SONGS FOR PERFORMERSIN MUSIC SHOW.
SAVING GRACE OR PLUS POINTS:
1. AISHWARYA SANG SOJA RAJKUMARI SOJA—FEELINGLY WHICH REVEALED HER GREAT TALENT.
2. ABAAS GOT A CHANCE TO RENDER A FEW SONGS WHICH WAS NEEDED MOST IN THIS DULL EPISODE. HE WAS AT HIS BEST WHEN HE SANG DIL KE JARONKO SE — AN AWARD WINNING COMPOSITION OF SHANKAR-JAIKISHAH.HOWEVER ORCHESTRA COULD HAVE BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE.
3. PRAKRITI GIRI’S RE-ENTRY MUST HAVE BEEN WELCOMED BY HER INNUMERABLE FANS. HER SINGING IS AWAYS IN SUR THOUGH WITHOUT ANY EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS. SHE PROVIDES VARIETY AMONG PARTICIPANTS. SHE SHOULD BE IN TOP THREE ALONGWITH AISHWARYA AND ANVESHA.
IF GAJENDRA SINGH IS BUSY WITH SOME NEW ASSIGNMENTS HE BETTER HANDOVER DIRECTION TO ASHWINI SINGH WHO HAS ALREADY DIRECTED SOME EPISODES OF THIS SHOW IN THE PAST QUITE COMPETENTLY.

I disagree, Prakriti’s singing is not always in sur, infact it is rarely in sur at all. Her singing always falls flat and she never displays any expression or emotion when she performs. Her voice quality is also not that great, she sounds like a kid, which is just as well, ’cause she is a kid. It’s just that her voice hasn’t developed properly yet and she’s just too young for this competition. She wasn’t even the best singer in the wildcard round and contestants like Gitashree, Jayant and Areeb all performed better in that day and are generally better singers than her (even Alpansh, the first one eliminated, was better). Despite all of this she still manages to attain ridiculous amounts of votes on a weekly-basis. I’m just baffled as to why this happens. Don’t get me wrong, she seems like an incredibly sweet girl, but what I am trying to convey is my frustration at the public for overlooking the fact that there were other candidates far more deserving to make it into the show as wildcard entrants than Miss ‘Pahari Dragon’ Prakriti.

Prakriti Giri is back but judges will eliminate her or Rigved in elimination round. Prakriti is better than Sonia & Rigved.

I wonder why it is necessary for Mr. Gajendra Singh to mention the participant’s state everytime and why should the partcipant’s state be revealed at all. Is he looking for a talent and fair voting or is he trying to titilate people’s regional sentiments and encourage a regional race ? I find him no different than the British who benefited from the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy. The results have always been poor when regionalism has been the propaganda in the show to merely get more votes and money! I feel ashamed to be Citizen of such country where right participant donot get the justice at the end of the day and somebody calls it a day with hefty some of money. Shame on you Star Plus !

I agree with you devkishin. I just do not understand why it is necessary to have all drama in a competition ? What age are we living in ? Why should personal Traumas be brought in the show ? Shame on Gajendra Singh..I feel he has lost his basic sense of making a matured programme and I mean it. When will he realise that sensible and educated people do not like all these drama. Can’t he be entrepreneur enough to make a sensible musical competition of national level that has some level of competency ? Shame on him that after so many years this is what he has to offer us.

On each and every chote ustad related site, i see discussion about prakriti giri. do you hate her or what? because she is from the NE? Don’t get me wrong but it seems so. Common people NE is our land and we are equal. Give these poor kids a break. They are trying their best. If people vote for their fav contestants, let them vote, its their will. Who are we to judge people’s individual choice? Not all in the public are musical heads and whatever they find soothing and has developed a taste in their mind – they will vote for their favorite contestant and so will the result ripe.
Not to forget that these are reality shows and drama forms part and parcel of their agenda. And not to forget also the fact that these are kids like you have at home. Don’t be a judge of your own judgement.

Harpal – I was born and brought in the NE and did my entire education in NE. I seriously do not think that Prakriti is a good singer.. she has problems with the ‘SUR’, the basic fundamentals of of singing. Also she is not technically sound as is evident from her singing… compare to Anwesha and Aishwarya.. the problem that I have is why people of NE who very well know that Prakriti falls short of technical capabilities still continue to vote her the most ? Is this fair ? Should justice prevail the other two contestants are way way ahead of Prakriti.. I find serious regional baised voting from NE.

hi avi great to have ur reply. what ever you have said above is based on your own decision, hearing and knowledge of music, but take a look at the common man who doesn’t know “A” about music. Do you think he will care in minute detail for the singing – if he finds it soothing and nice, he will go for it. So this is how Prakriti is getting the votes. Its not from NE alone but from the rest of India.

All kids who r up on stage r sweet ones, prghiti too has sweet voice, sweetness tht reflects whtever she sings and after all wht this contest is about, chotey ustad , does tht mean a kid voice or matured voice? quality of background music is kind of biased it seems , too bad for few singers and too good at other times in the same show. wht r u upto guys?
v should all remeber these r kids they need guidence on selction of song like hamesh rehamya episode some kids made terrible mistakes in choice of songs while others chose duos songs with only slight hamesh flavour , so secured them from difficult mimicing which effected the level of performance of others. so kids need guidence on too retain orginality. like i am sure even matured singers wud be unable to sing anything offered to them.
so slow down and let the good voices , chose right lines and come prepared. its kids dont let them suffer for lack of home work

please be kind to these kids they are all good singers but some are more talented than others. you should judge them for their talents not for state,color, religion or gender.biased opinion is very demoralising.They are world standard as i watch in USA or even better.
To show admn: please discard the personal story & emotion to show ;if you would like to tell the musical background thats fine as long as it sticks to training ,rest are extravagant and distractor.it will not only lower the musical ambience but also project shabby to the world image.

I totally agree with Devikishin. The contestants shouldn’t be scolded which will affect their moral. Gajjy was wrong when he said that he did not tolerate Vyom’s mistake. Actually, it was not his fault.Kunal was trying to explain to Gajji although Gajji went on blowing his own trumpet. Kunal, hats off to you for boosting Vyom’s moral and you saw how the boy came out with the best performance on the next day. In my opinion he is already the winner.

You can’t really drag in north east.
That is a huge region in India with places like Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and so on who have not been accepted by Indians as being citizens of the country. Most people don’t even know or care that they exist. And they in turn being left as an outcast in India are not that into hindi movies or songs either. Most people there are into English and their songs from their own language. Most people don’t even know about Chote Ustad there or ever watched a bollywood movie.
India is gonna have some major civil wars as is already witnessed by some outbursts of violence in some areas.
Only people in places like Assam are big fans of hindi music and bollywood culture. And they don’t really give a two hoots about a girl from Darjeeling. Its like miles away from them. Different culture etc and they have their own contestants who have done well in these music shows.
Bottom line learn your geography and also about the reality ad different people living in your own country.
By the way I am not from North East incase u were wonderin. Jus givin ya an unbiased opinion.
Jus be careful ignornace and ill treatment of minorities are the wrong way to go go go.
FYI- You have black looking, white looking, asian looking and the typical indian looking people in your country. Don’t treat people like outcast jus cause they look diff from the majority.

I guess, people really don’t want to understand the fact that these are little kids trying their best and I have found on this very blog that people have rejoiced when Prakriti was out and none of such rejoicement was seen when any of the other contestants were out and not to forget that Prakriti was not the worst lot among the contestants who were out! Anwesha is a classically trained singer (She has been trained by Jayanta Sarkar, who is known for training Aneek, the other reality-show champion). She came runner up in the Zee Bangla Saregamapa little champs show a few years ago. In that show the judges were in control of eliminations and so on, they thought Anwesha was too much of a classical singer to become the winner, and they were looking for a pop star, so someone else won instead. In Saregamapa, she sang mostly classical songs such as “kuhu kuhu bole koyalia,” and she sung them with ease. Anwesha has also already recorded a Bengali song on an album (sung brilliantly by the way), you can listen to it on hummaa.com, just type Anwesha in the search engine. The song is called Mohiyoshi.

This is the direct link to the Bengali Anwesha song. It is a relatively simple, yet beautiful song. Her voice is so melodious, it is perfect for a song like this and she she puts so much emotion into every word. I’m just amazed that she was only about 12 when she recorded this. I mean her inflections, the throw of her voice… just beautiful. In SVOI, the producers keep giving her difficult songs to sing (because they know only she can sing them properly and do them justice), but give her a melodious, surila, song like this and it’s pure magic.
