Wow, this is really unfortunate, though somewhat expected. It was going to be between her and Vyom. I really thought she deserved to be in the top 3 with Anwesha and Aishwarya.

SONIA:ELIMINATION WAS INEVITABLE.SONIA IS YOUNG AND QUITE TALENTED .AT THE MOST SHE COULD HAVE SURVIVED FOR A WEEK MORE.SHE SHOULD NOT FEEL DISHEARTENED.SHE WILL BOUNCE BACK AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS AND IS DESTINED TO REACH THE TOP. COME ON SONIA YOU POSSESS ALL THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD SINGER. THIS IS A TEMPORARY SETBACK. JUST WORK HARD, CONCENTRATE ON YOUR SINGING CAREER AND PRAY REGULARLY. GREAT FUTURE IS AWAITING YOU.GOD BLESS YOU

prakrithi should have been eliminated, soniya is far more better than prakrithi. i don’t know why she been around even after much better singers have been eliminated. and why she has been brought back after elimination???????

Sad. But, great work by Nepali lobby through voting for a sub standard singer. That is the problem with us…. Indians… we are not objective..rather flow by with narrow strands.

Hopefully Prakirti will fall through or this show will also reach the same levels as those of the previous ones…sub par .. regionally voted singers come to fore and then fading over.

With some time now a prog must be done as to what these top singers are doing which have won in various competitions in Sony, Zee , Star etc. Will be FUN

  13. By DEVKISHIN on Mar 7, 2008 | Reply

WHY SO MANY ADVERSE COMMENTS AGAINST PRAKRITI? HER VOICE MAY NOT BE AS GOOD AS THAT OF ANWESHA OR AISHWARYA BUT CERTAINLY BETTER THAN SONIA. SHE IS INNNOCENT, HIGHLY CULTURED AND ALWAYS IN SUR. GIVE HER ANY OLD POPULAR SONG TO JUDGE HER REAL TALENT . SHE HAD ALWAYS BEEN AT RECEIVING END AS FOR AS SELECTION OF SONGS IS CONCERNED.
PRAKRITI DO NOT BE NERVOUS ON THIS SHOW .BE CONFIDENT AND CONCENTRATE ON YOUR PERFORMANCE. YOU WILL CERTAINLY BE IN TOP 3 AS VYOM IS RATHER INCONSISTENT IN HIS PERFORMANCES. TO FIGURE IN TOP 3 IS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IN ITSELF.
YOU BRAVE GIRL NOT ONLY NEPALIS BUT MANY NON-NEPALIS ARE ALSO WITH YOU. GOD BLESS YOU.

  14. By Vivek on Mar 7, 2008 | Reply

First, Prakriti does have a good voice no doubt about that. But Soniya is better. I thought the top 5 will be Aishwarya/Anvesha,Vyom,Soniya,Prakriti…..anyways Soniya was unlucky given that Prakriti was already eliminated and then came back. All are good…Aishwarya/Anvesha are int heir own league, Vyom is the most improved singer in this competition, Soniya has lots of energy in her voice and Prakriti is naturally sweet though she has a long way to go. Anyway doesnt make a difference who goes between Soniya or Prakriti.

  25. By Avinash on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

Once in a while Mr. Gajji manages to bring us a memorable episode and this was one! If it was scripted, then I must say the writers did an AMAZING job! This was an episode, at least for me, that I would watch quite a few times!

All the kids were just amazing! In the mid of the program, just the thought that one of these kids would no longer perform tomorrow was disheartening!

Anwesha, I must say sounded not her usual self, so for today’s show, the “battle” between Anwesha and Aishwarya was won by Aishwarya!!!

Aishwarya, your song selection and your performance was and will be a very memorable one for a long time now! Its upto Anwesha, now to work harder and be a REAL competition to Aishwarya!

  26. By Avinash on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

Kunal, Pritam, Shreya and Neil Nitin Mukesh!

  27. By Anonymous on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

I’ve heard before that contestansts do not always get to pick their own songs to sing (otherwise Prakriti, last Friday, would have no need to publically announce that the next day she will be singing a song of her own choice). I thought it was a bit unfair that everybody was given tearjerker songs to sing, but only Anwesha was made to sing a brighter, more peppy song. Though, I still thought she did a decent job of it. I would have loved to have heard her sing the song Shreya was singing at the end of the episode.

  28. By Avinash on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

Ah, forgot to add about the judges:

Also, in today’s episode I felt Kunal should have sung less and let Neil to continue and complete his grandpa’s song! Just didn’t get to hear how Neil’s voice sounds when he sings!

Shreya, like a typical artist was very emotional and shed tear even when not asked for! Sorry, Shreya – I still consider you the CURRENT voice of India!

Pritam – the less said the better! I guess, he too is competing in this competition on his own level:
    1. To plagarize, sorry, get “inspired” from other Asian artists songs, put it in his name and release the album for Bollywood movies. Anu Mallik would be proud of his prodigy(…or feel threatened by him??)
    2. On his second level of this competition, I guess he is competing with none other than Himesh Besharmiya by being bias and passing totally unwanted comments!

Lastly, one comment to Vyom’s mom, Aunty we realize that you and your family has gone through rough time and our sympathies are with you, but please be a role model to Vyom by being a strong lady (that you really are, I have not a single iota of doubt on that!!) and not cry so often, it would affect the kids upbringing be it Vyom or his sis!

This comment is for the March 6 episode.
Anwesha, we loved the you sang in the last episode. You’re excellent as usual and you sang beautifully. You’re so good that I think you were being judged probably by your own superb standards. None of the other songs came even close or made any impression to us. You’re going to be definitely The Chhote USTAAD. LOVE

    Hi Devkishin -

I think you should have written “I ‘THINK’ …ALWAYS IN SUR” instead of an assertive statement like “SHE IS INNNOCENT, HIGHLY CULTURED AND ALWAYS IN SUR.” Prakriti I think, definitely has problems with her “Sur” and she is inconsistent with her sur many a times. Also no one above your comments, have written anything about Prakriti’s demeanour, why did you bring up her being cultured and honest ? She is hardly trained (as fas as I understand).

    Hi all,
I hope Anvesha wins. Why aren’t people in India voting for her?
I live in U.K. and IndiANS here are crazy about her singing. it would be a shame to India if that arrogant Aishwarya won. She is not even sucha good singer. And don’t blame regionalism. poeple all over India should vote for her. Be modern and make educated choices.

    Mr. Avinash

Don’t make us laugh at your comments. Aishwarya won??? in what way?? I am sure now you are realted to her. Don’t make a fool of yourself by writing comments which show your nil or zero musical knowledge.
Anu scores over Ash in all ways. That’s why judges rank her No. 1 every week.

So plz grow up and shed your regional attitude

I agree with Mr Avinash here. Others, pleas do not be biased n be fair. Both the girls are very good. But as Pritam said it seemed that Anwesha has taken things for granted. She CHOSE(the songs are chosen n not GIVEN) a very ordinary song and sang also very ordinary in 7 March episode. Even in the episode of 29 Feb Aishwarya outclassed everyone on the show. She sings with so much feelings n emotions it is indeed a treat to see her sing.If you remember on 29 Feb show-Vrindavan theme Aishwarya was totally lost in her world of SUR n SONG so deeply that she was unaware of the standing ovation giver to her. She reallised only when she opened her eyes.Mr Rahul- COME ON! LEARN TO GIVE DUE CREDIT TO ALL OF THEM WHEN THEY ARE GOOD. DON`T HOLD ON TO A CERTAIN COMMUNITY BIAS AS IT WILL NOT HELP IN REACHING ANYWHERE! so as of NOW it seems that Aishwarya has won the race. Still there is 1 month to go! May God Bless both of them n May The Best Win.

Pallavi! Are you RELATED to Aishwarya? How do you know she is arrogant? Grow up! Don`t be so CHILDISH n CHEAP! How can you talk about her character sitting soooo far away. You talk about INDIANS living in LONDON, but What about INDIANS LIVING IN INDIA? They are all voting for their favorite singers. They surely don`t sit and advise others. Both of them are good singers and we INDIANS are Proud of them as very good singers.

Sonia proved her versatality yesterday. She was the best. It was very unfortunate that she got eliminated.Aishwarya was brilliant once again, she is proving her self again and again. She is consistent in her performance.

Now coming to Anwesha, now this is what happens to a singer when she is unnecessarily praised a lot. Pritam da gave the correct example of the rabbit-tortoise story. Anwesha is sleeping like the rabbit. Yesteday she ruined one of my favourite songs “Yeh galiyan yeh chaubara”. She did not get into the mood of that song at all. She was just singing it for the sake of singing, and then waiting to be showered with praises. But Pritam da’s advice brought tears to her eyes. I hope she learns from her mistakes

  36. By fatima on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

yes its unfortunate that not the technical judiciary but biased votes eliminated a young , indepth voice at an early stage.

If chote ustad doesnot want to end up like berey ustad show where regionalism surpassed a better voice and rhythm and versatility judges should take further elimiantions in their hands and the judges panel can be broadened to diffuse chances of sounding baised etc coz with prsent trends am sure , anwesha would be eliminated soon and same regionalism would ultimately determine the VOI. Also abhas to avoid any region provoking comments on voting. though he is a nice dude unbiased one

may lord help this time against the monster of i vote for my region’s dude /gal

  37. By chronic on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

Please, Anwesha is the last person to ever take music lightly, or as you put it, “for granted”. I felt so sorry for her. Pritam should watch his words or she will be out of the competition very soon. I don’t really know what his problem was, she sang in perfect sur and kept up the atmosphere of the song. It wasn’t like the other songs – this one was generally much lighter, so obviously her attitude while singing the song will reflect the tone of the song. And it’s not like Anwesha doesn’t know how to sing emotional songs, she has proven time and again how capable she is when it comes to bringig out emotions with music.

  38. By chronic on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

I do not think Anwesha was crying because she didn’t receive praises like she usually does. I think she was crying because she might have felt somewhat offended that Pritam accused her of taking music lightly, that’s why she was shaking her head. And btw, the praises she had received before were all earned and completely deserved.

Anyway, it’s ok. because the judges have already acknowledged that they have a completely different set of standards for someone of her calibre, than for other contestants. And if sometimes she falls a little short of their very high expectations, that does not mean that she did not perform well. Afterall, technically, even today, she was still superb.

yes Sonia is better than prakiriti and better than Vyom. I am very sorry about this result. I dont know why judges put sonia on 4 and Vyom on 3. He is not deserving it because boys like areeb and jayant are better than him.

Its rather unfortunate that Vyom continues to stay over Soniya. He doesn’t deserve this slot at all. Singing doesn’t come naturally to him. Just watch his expressions. I find it a big put off. As for Anwesha and Aishwarya they deserve it to be there. Though between the two, Aish is my favourite.

    Daniela,

Rest assured , Aishwarya is going to win, as she has both the talent and votes. By giving 50% weightage to judges marks , Prakriti’s fate has been sealed. Even if she reaches the top 2 with help of votes, judges will ensure that she loses. They will give her quite low marks. So I am pretty sure that deserving Aishwarya will win this contest.

After a long long time we have panel of young judges who do not have inflated ego.Their job is simple as well as difficult. They are aware of the pitfalls and they are resorting to tactical voting to keep Prakriti away from the two best talents . Prakriti stands last in judges voting list as she is getting solid support from her well-wishers through voting WHICH CAN KNOCK OUT THE BEST TALENT.
I admire Prakriti for her raw honesty and high culture. She comes from a region where good singers of hindi film songs may not be many. She may not be the best in present group of contestants but to figure in last FOUR is an achievement in itself which should make her admirers proud of.Vyom is trying his best to impress the judges as well as the viewers and there is marked improvement in his rendition of difficult songs. This is a competition and all can not be declared as winners. LET US TAKE THE JUDGES VERDICT AND COMMENTS SPORTINGLY AND ENJOY THE REMAINING FEW EPISODES OF THIS PROGRAMME.

    Rahul,
Grow up bud! Remove the pacifier from your mouth, looks like its blocking the way you are reading my post and affecting your brain (if you have one)!
Your comments remind me another blogger Jhanvi, are you both the same or related to each other?
All I said was for yesterday’s program Aishwarya was a better performer than Anwesha. BTW, are you related to Anwesha? If so, I would understand your defense and your heights of stupidity!
Instead of rasing your BP, read the thread, understand/comprehend it and then reply back and not make a complete moron of yourself (if you are not one)!

  52. By Shantanu Mishra on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

Mr. Jatin has rightly stated that with unnecessary (and also “incorrect” at times)praises, Anwesha have started thinking that she is the best singer. Frankly, Anwesha has too nazal voice, no understanding of the lyric and no feel of what she is singing. Even her pronunciation are incorrect at times. In yesterday’s episode Aishwarya sang “Agle janam mohe bitiya na ki jo”. This is what is called performence. In two minutes, she casted musical spell & I am sure all who heard this without prejudice will remember that performence for a lifetime. It brought tears to eyes of all who was watching the show with me. So… Mr. Chronic… do you know what we are talking about? BEING TECHNICALLY PERFACT IN MUSIC MAKES A GOOD MUSIC TEACHER BUT HERE WE ARE SEARCHING VOICE OF INDIA. THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE.

  53. By Shantanu Mishra on Mar 8, 2008 | Reply

This Ms. Pallavi does not like choice of people of India because it does not match with her choice. Anwesha is the same. As Pritamda did not praise her for one performence, she could not take it & against which, Aishwarya stayed undittered with really unwarranted comments against her several brilliant performences. Who can be called arrogant?
One more example, Not once, Aishwarya has made a vote appeal in Gujarati even when Judges asked her to do so, whereas all other children including Anwesha have made vote appeal in their native language. Now give your judgement without any prejudiced mind, who is better !!! Ms Pallavi, this is a show of children and yes, you are cent percent right for not bringing regionalism here. Let us accept, as per start India’s statments, Aishwarya is getting votes from all over the globe. Let alone states of India.
Be reasonable and learn to think with a normal stable mind.

I just finished watching this episode, and quite frankly, I’m just bawling my eyes out. Sonia has such a soulful, powerful voice. When she sings she turns into such an adult with such grace and such power. For once, I agree with Pritam– if only the top five could just all be declared winners because it truly affects these young people. Throughout the show, reading the comments here, I wish that some viewers would compliment on the marvelous performances of the other contestants, not solely the performances of Anwesha and Aishwarya (though they are amazing)…

Sonia, you are a true winner, with a voice given to you by God. I hope that she is successful in her future, honestly and truly.

  58. By Avinash on Mar 9, 2008 | Reply

vivace, Are you kidding me, when you say that you agree with Pritam’s comment of declaring the TOP 5 as winners as it would “affect” the children?? If so, were the other eliminated kids not KIDS? Speaking of Pritam, he stooped to such a low level when Rig Ved was introduced and he made it his personal agenda to pull him down (see episodes starting from Rig Ved’s intro to the program until his elimination and see how Pritam directly attack this kid – as if Rig Vd paid money and entered into the contest dishonestly!), no matter how well Rig Ved performed, wasn’t Rig Ved a kid? Gimme a break here! Pritam – Himesh Besharmiya – all these fall under conmen category who will stoop to any low to carry out their personal agenda!

I am not happy at all with last week’s result. soniya should not have been out of the contest.i think Vyom is the 1 who should be out of the contest.soniya is much better singer than vyom. I feel bad for soniya, we lost a very fantastic singer.

    Dear Mr. Rahul,
Aishwarya have surely established herself even in the eyes of judges. With her 8th March performences, she has demionstrated how versatile she is and how much understanding of music she has. (Sorry, we would not like to learn it from you.)
As far as regionalism is concerned, Anwesha have made vote appeal in Bengoli (Or Bangla) in almost all episodes. So have others EXCEPT Aishwarya. Yes, my dear, Aishwarya has refused to make vote appeal in her mother toungue. Why???? As she herself says, In gujarat, everyone knows me. I have come here to become voice of India. What an attitude !!!
Finally, I salute to Aishwarya’s parents. What thoughts they carry.
Sorry to say Mr. Rahul, Aishwarya is way above others in the competition. You may not like it but that’s your problem.

I would have gone with Prakriti being eliminated…she was out once and Soniya was plainly unlucky…cant help feeling bad for her

Apologies, didn’t mean to offend your delicate sensibilities. I don’t like Pritam; after all, he plagiarizes melodies from other countries and stamps his label on them as if they are always his own genius. He says idiotic things and definitely fits the role of Himesh on this show. (Did you hear about how he had the Himesh episode changed from a spoof to a tribute to ‘respect’ the guy?) In any case, in my moments of emotion after watching the episode I really did hope that the competition would somehow end there. Five is a good cut-off point, in my opinion. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that any other contestants were less than human, or anything.. you mistook me.

Soniya Sharma is indeed a wonderful child singer. Entire world is surprised with her unfortunate elimation. Although eliminated she still rules the hearts of people. She is the reall winner in the real world. May be she was not voted in a show only. I have all sympathies with Soniya.

Soniya keep it up. You every day is your day!!
