Both were excelent but Anwesha was better than aishwarya. I was reading some forums 90% people love Anwesha and they want to see Anwesha in the winning crown.But i am Confused how Anwesha got 20.54% vote via indya.com where Aishwarya 79.46% vote.After seeing this
result i think people don’t need to watch grand Final in 5th April, we already know that Aishwarya is the winner. Good luck Anwesha and sorry you were unable to achive very good supporter like Aishwarya.

ANWESHA + AISWYRIA = CHOTTE USTAAD AWARD.

I thought Anwesha’s Bengali classical rendition was SUPERB. It is such a diificult classical song and she rendered it like a complete PRO! AIsh also sang ‘Na Jeona’ (o Saajna) origianally sung by LATA very beautifully – probably one of her best. Anwesha’s bengali song is mostly unknown by most people while AISH song’s hindi version is a very popular classic song but not as difficult. So most people ( specially non bengalis) will identify with the latter more.
‘Chhalka Chhalka’ again is a very difficult number sung effortlessly ny Anu. ‘Chupke se’ is one of my most favorite songs – Aish tried to sing it soulfully but something went wrong she totally lost sur and mood in the second half. I agree with Ronnie , this song should have been given definitely to Anwesha. Other two songs by each of them were just o.k.

Anwesha loses focus on singing and enters the dancing world ! Kiddo .. please put singing on top in your priority list.. ‘Glamour’ and ‘Kamar Hilaao activities’ can follow later.I am not getting a good feeling out of your singing from the past few episodes. Anwesha was so good in “Shankar kore damru baaje” that i think she deserved a standing ovation.
For a 14 year old kid singing this difficult song with that conviction and control was just fabulous.

I personally think that she is beyond this competition. If it were not for the sick song selections…..She would have just crushed every competition.

but such is the nature of songs and music in the country that you have to sing mediocre songs too if you want to be a playback singer and so she has to prove that she can do that too.

Anwesha …… I wish that one day you realise that there is more to music than playback singing (people are already calling her the next big thing in playback singing…..and it is natural that she does not have any idea at her age). I hope you realise there is more to music than Pritam, Kunal and Shreya.

I hope besides doing playback singing you continue to learn and improve your classical singing Coz you are a rare talent……..that comes once in many many years.

You have won many many hearts with your singing and hope you continue to do so for years together.

This So called FANTASTIC Bengali classical song was nothing but what you learn when you learn Raags in Hindustani classical Music. One has to prepare an Aalaap-taan Song for each Raag. this was nothing but a mugged Aalaap-Taan song of a Raag in Bengali. I am sure any good Hindustani Classical Student can sing this kind of mugged classical song with no Feelings and Emotions.
On the other hand the EFFORT from Aishwarya to talk and sing in Bengali was very good.
What are these Judges trying to DO?What are they trying to Promote? On a song totally OUT OF SUR from Anwesha! she was given SARVOTTAM! Remember PRAKRITI? on a much better performance she was given MADHYAM AND THAT ALSO IN WHAT WAY?
Again in the same episode in the last song-Chupke Se- which was NOT OUT OF SUR AT ALL by Aishwarya she was ALSO given SARVOTTAM! The problem was with the prepared MUSIC TRACK on which they sing, AND NOT WITH HER SINGING!
I know that lot of people will not agree with me but this is a FACT. If you learn music you will know. I know because i have learnt and prepared Aalaap-taan songs like this.

Personally, I did not like this episode. I just hated Rani Mukherjee in this episode……I actually like her in movies but i thought that she just talked too much … Even Shilpa Shetty was better in her comments.

Anwesha was fabulous in Bengali classical song……she deserved a standing ovation which she did not get !!!

The beauty of Anweshas singing is the effortlessness with which she sings……no matter what rhythm, alaap, octave, high notes, low notes…… she is just superb.
and Chalka Chalka was such a song. I thought that Rani disturbed her while singing and made her dance. Rani should have understood that she herself lip syncs and Anwesha is in a competition for singing and not dancing.

Aishwarya was superb in Na jeona. Her rendition was one with superb voice, good control, and one with great confidence. I also thought that the song was not a very difficult one as it does not have extreme variations in rhythm and notes.

Aishwarya does very well when there are less variations in the songs…….and she struggles when there are too many of them. Overall she deserves to be in top 2.

She was not confident of singing “Chupke se” and it showed it in her singing. She sang it horribly to say the least…….She lost sur, the notes were mediocre and the whole song sounded very ordinary. It is a great song ……. But i guess singing a song like that live is one thing that needs to be taken into account. So i will say she did an OK job but not a great one definitely.

The other two songs do not deserve any mention. And i thought both those songs were sung equally by both singers……no one was better than the other.

Night belonged to the Bengali lass……Anwesha for her bengali song and quite good chalka chalka re.

I thought JUDGES did a good job in the KOLKATA episode.For once they seemed very impartial to the contestants.

Kolkata episode:

“Yey isk isk was great from Ashwariya, her emotional were great and it was matching with the voice of Rani while the later was doing the lip singing.
Anesha’s father speech was good, honest and short, Anewsha’s Dhadak dhadak was very nice but “sur hila” because she was dancing too much otherwise we have seen she can do it very nicely. Both of Ash –and Anu were superb.

“Sankar kore” was great, She really sung it like “pani ki tarah” as stated by Sherya Someone above said that Hindustani classical songs are better then Bengali classical my question to you is how do you know that there are not many Bengali classical songs and how much do you know about the variations????

“Na Jeona” was too good Ashwariya was looking like a Bengali bride! Too sweet, she really sung the song with good pronunciation.

I did not like the starting of chalka chalka from Anwesha, I know she could have done better then this, but from the middle of this song she sang it well.

Perhaps we are spending more time here and we are not voting for Anwesha if Ashwariya is now 79% through internet voting then Anwesha should be more than this seeing the trend of maximum fans in the blog but she has received 20% so far. OMG! It’s too low she deserves more then this for sure.

“Chupke se” was also not perfect in sur from Ashwariya but was good to hear. Anwseha is always “mithi” but Ashwariya is no less.

Kolkata’s audience was great only that they lack the art of cheering up by moving their hands or making some sound, they just cheers by sitting in other way many people will consider this as “cultured crowd” But since I myself love to make some noise to cheer someone I was expecting same from my home crowd, may be I am wrong I was watching only on TV so you really cannot have the actual scenario.
.The crowd was supporting both of them though but Anwesha has the advantage over Ashawariya since this place is her home town. Anwesha will receive more votes from Kolkata. The opposite will happen in Ahmedabad next Ashwariya will have the advantage and she will receive more votes.

Sherya is really the “garvo of India” lekin lekin lekin! Yeh kya Aap jab ga rahi thi to aapki har breath jo aap le rahi thi who sunai de rahi thi! Uspe aapka contraol hona chahiye Aap in choote baccho ki Judge hain ! Galtiya to aap pe bhi lagu hoti hain na Madamji! Kunal sung it great! He has a different style and no one can copy it. He might not be the best singer in India but his style is also unique.

Whatever the result India is going to get two playback singers as Ash and Anu. No doubt about it. God bless the two.

Both the kids are god gifted! Nobody in this forum has talent like these two kids.

I’m reposting my thoughts on the Kolkata episode because this is the appropriate forum. IMHO The best part of the show was Anwesha’s rendition of the bengali claasical song which is composed by Ajoy Chakraborty. Simply OUTATANDING, MINDBLOWING!! No WORDS TO EXPRESS HOW GOOD THE RENDITION WAS!! Anu’s ‘CHHALKA RE ‘ was SUPERB TOO. But in ‘Dhadak Dhadak’ she missed a couple of notes for the first time, mainly because she was distracted trying to dance with Rani Mukherjee, but the rest of the song was pretty good too. Aish’s ‘Gore gore’ was strictly o.k. No major mistakes but not that good either. Aish’s ‘Na jeona’ was very good. ‘Chupke se’ is an awesome song and unfortunately Aish could not do justice to it. I wish Anwesha was given the song ‘Chupke se’ to sing – She would have done a Super job.

stage performance and sangeet performace are totally different>one is from Rhythm,dancing and moves,the other is from control of vocal cords from cortical control.Rock and pop used by the performers don’t need to be “surela”,body moves and rhythm do the job but sangeet performance demands its core component”sur” and also needs extreme concentration for vocalisation.

i hope the selction commmitee for music slections select lataji,ashaji, haimanti shukla and others famous musical singers and composers of oldies but defintely classical based sangeet.
The pop,hiphop and rock don’t suit their voices AT ALL> very irritants.
you can’t take a Benz on a muddy ,unpaved road for bullock carts.

I am not for either one of the two – I love both . both have ability to sing amazing. but to not be unfair Anwesha;s sur loss should be compared with Prakriti’s sur loss. The difference is Prakriti does not know what is right sur and wrong sur. But Anwesha does.

In my opinion, the highlight of the show was Anwesha’s rendition of the Bengali classical number. YES, she should have gotten a standing ovation. Aish’s ‘Na jeona’ was excellent. Aish has a beautiful voice but she misses sur and that’s very frustrating. “Chupke se” could have been so much better, if she sang in SUR!. “Na jeona” sung by Aish was excellent but it’s not a difficult song by any means. If Anwesha sang it – It would have been awesome. But Aish really sang it very well. And she looked so cute. I’m waiting to hear some soulfull songs from Anwesha like “hum dil de chuke sanam” in the next episode.

The Kolkata episode was good…crowd was very disciplined.
Anweshas bengali classical number was simply outstanding….have to begin my blog with this…it was evident how Shreyas remarks made the kid so happy…she hadnt been getting good remarks from shreya for a while now…so about time…well done anwesha!way to go!
Her Dhadak dhadak was good except the minor slip…not that it spoilt her rendition ….but inexcusable seeing the number of ppl on this blogsite waiting to pounce on her mistakes!!!
Chalka Chalka was excellent especially with it being such a tough song to sing with lots of jumping notes….
Aishwaryas voice is superb….singingwise…quite good.
Na Jeona was exceptional specially the transition from hindi back to bengali coz i personally think its more difficult to change to a new language from a known one. the vice-versa was also very good but its not as difficult as the former…
She looked gorgeous in the bengali saree, made a great effort speaking in bengali….well done!
Her ye gore gore se chore was good especially as it was the first song of the evening afer abahs’s beautifully sung saathiya number…However “chupke se ” being one of my favourite songs I was disappointed with aish’s performance…sadhnaji has sung it so beautifully…
Rani was her usual “babli” self…she makes everyone dance wherever she goes as a guest on a music contest so this one was no different…..She was generous in her praises….but she got a bit carried away when she asked anwesha to dance while she was singing…
The judges were sensible….
will anwesha get enough votes from rest of india to match aishwaryas votes especially with next episode being in gujarat remains to be seen?
I hope they sing melodious songs next week…instead of loud and jarring numbers.

if you notice even in extreme distress she simply wiped her tears silently,avoided the welcome TILAK CEREMONY in Bhopal,it’s projected in her child.pritam asked ANWESHA about her career goal> “you have to be open & extrovert personality to become a playback singer” corrected by Rani immediately “you just do your job and every technicality will be added to you” In Hindi world PRITAM may be succesful for hit film songs but in BENGAL he is a mouse by comparison to past and present.so thanks to hindi janta! 5′ of bengal can be streched to 6′ in Bombay.

Finally there are 2 lovely kids left but both are winners and I would support to Dr. AK Biwsas should be announced as both are winner.

As Beijing continues to batter him with charges of “masterminding” the Lhasa unrest, the Dalai Lama on Saturday suggested that China itself could be behind the violence and expressed readiness to work with the Chinese authorities to restore peace in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama, who has been seeking dialogue to resolve Tibet issue, voiced frustration at lack of response from China and declared that the future of his ‘middle-path’ approach would depend on Beijing’s attitude in the next few weeks.

At a press conference, he sought the help of the international community to bring China to the dialogue table, saying the Tibetans had “no power” to do so.

“Tibetans are non-violent people,” the spiritual leader maintained rubbishing allegations by China that he and his supporters were behind the recent violence in Tibet.

He suggested that China itself could be behind the violence as he said “we have heard about a few hundred Chinese soldiers received monks’ dress.”

“They (soldiers) dressed like monks. So, for a lay person, they will look like monks. But the swords they had, were not Tibetan, they were Chinese swords,” he said, apparently responding to China’s campaign that monks had indulged in violence.

Maintaining that he has “no desire to seek Tibet’s separation” nor “any wish to drive a wedge between the Tibetan and Chinese peoples,” the Dalai Lama expressed willingness to work with the Chinese authorities to “bring about peace and stability in Tibet.”

The Dalai Lama, who earlier led an inter-faith prayer at Rajghat in the memory of those killed in Lhasa, said his primary concern was to ensure the survival of the Tibetan people’s distinctive culture, language and identity.

“My side is open for dialogue. We are waiting to hear from the Chinese side,” he said before heading back to Dharamshala, the seat of his ‘government-in-exile’.

“We have no power to bring China to the dialogue table. We have only truth and sincerity. That is why we are appealing to the world community, please help,” the Tibetan leader said.

He said the attitude of the Chinese government over the next few weeks would be crucial to decide the future of his “middle-path” approach to resolve the Tibet issue.

Expressing his keenness to return to Tibet, the Dalai Lama said it would be of “no use” if he had to return without a “certain degree of freedom”.

He also sought to allay China’s concerns that Tibetans may cause trouble during the India-leg of the Olympic torch relay, saying he was in favour of Beijing hosting the mega sporting event.

The Dalai Lama said that Tibetans were neither anti-China nor seeking separation from the mailand. “We only want meaningful autonomy and not independence from China. Remaining with China is in our own larger interest,” he said.

He said the Tibetans only want full “guarantee and assurance” from the Chinese government that it would preserve their cultural heritage and provide them with complete religious freedom.

The Dalai Lama said Chinese demographic aggression is threatening Tibetan culture as a large number of non-Tibetans were settling in Tibetan region.

“Half-a-million Chinese people are already there and there are plans to settle over one million Chinese people after the Olympic Games,” he said.

He also warned that China faced instability in the future as there was a lot of resentment beneath the appearance of
stability in the country.

“China looks stable, but underneath there is a lot of resentment,” the Dalai Lama said calling it a police state where there is a “rule of terror”.

He said besides spiritual advancement, Tibetans also need material development and urged Tibetans to opt for higher education, training and help in the progress of their motherland.

Vijay Bhardwaj murdered Rajbir Singh after meticulous planning, Gurgaon Police said on Sunday, pushing aside its own claims earlier that the senior police officer was shot dead at the spur of the moment.

And this was only one of the many twists and turns the Gurgaon Police gave to the case just days ahead of the CBI taking over the investigations.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has already announced his government’s decision to hand over the case to the central probe agency.

Gurgaon Police Commissioner Mohinder Lal said Bhardwaj had planned to kill the Delhi ACP and encounter specialist three days before March 24 — on the night of which Rajbir’s body was found. The property dealer had asked Rajbir for a revolver saying that he needed it for his own safety, as he was to collect a huge amount of money from someone in Sirsa. Bhardwaj actually never went to Sirsa nor was to get money from anyone, Lal said.

This twist contradicted the claims of the police four days ago when senior officers said that Bhardwaj killed Rajbir when he saw him making frantic calls to someone to fix him for not keeping his promise of paying back the money that he owed him.

Some more twists in the tale so far. On March 25, Commissioner Lal had said that Bhardwaj shot thrice at Rajbir — two bullets hit him. A day later, Joint Police Commissioner Manjit Singh Ahalawat said at a press conference that Bhardwaj had fired only two shots.

Ahalawat also said that Bhardwaj owed Rajbir Rs 95 lakh, and not Rs 60 lakh as his force had earlier claimed.
On Sunday, the police also said that the gun used in the crime was the service revolver of a senior Haryana Police officer who lost it during a raid in July last year. The earlier claim was that the revolver belonged to Rajbir.
Another important contradiction: the autopsy report clearly said that the gunshots were fired at the ACP from the front while the Gurgaon police claimed that Bhardwaj opened fire from behind.

When I visited the Gujarat State Assembly for the first time as a student of Journalism, it was an enviable awe inspiring experience. Assembly sergeants in impeccable white uniform directing strangers and visitors with a command of authority.And when I visited the Assembly to cover proceedings as a reporter of Indian Express, I had another experience of the Assembly.Even the elite, the media- not a popular term in those days, had to stick to rules.

I distinctly remember my first day. While leaving the gallery, I had left my papers on the writing desk. A senior next to me drew my attention to the papers. He asked me to put all my papers in the desk so that nothing flew away from the desk. He explained to me that if papers flew and got into the House, I would be punished. It amounted to throwing papers into the gallery, common form of protest in the Assembly by outsiders.Such was the sense of decorum of the House and spirit of help of fellow journalists.

Now, the atmosphere in the corridors of the Assembly is more or less same. Strict discipline for outsiders and strangers. MLAs, officers in the officers gallery and visitors in the visitors gallery have to follow the strict discipline. Speaker is the ultimate unchallenged undisputed authority for all. Everyone is conscious of the the omnipresent authority of the Speaker. There is an unwritten dress code. Sober colours and formal clothes are still a tradition followed by all.

Last week, Jagdish Thakore of Congress drew the attention of the Speaker to two senior officers of the Information Department sitting in the visitor gallery.There was nothing wrong in the sense that anyone can be in visitors gallery. But the officers slipped out of the gallery the moment the issue was raised.

But the scenario in the press gallery has undergone a sea change. Journalists talk freely at a decibel that is audible even to some members in House. Frequent movement in the gallery attracts attention of everyone in the House. There is a good number of women journalists. 1)When I visited the Gujarat State Assembly for the first time as a student of Journalism, it was an enviable awe inspiring experience. Assembly sergeants in impeccable white uniform directing strangers and visitors with a command of authority.And when I visited the Assembly to cover proceedings as a reporter of Indian Express, I had another experience of the Assembly.Even the elite, the media- not a popular term in those days, had to stick to rules.

I distinctly remember my first day. While leaving the gallery, I had left my papers on the writing desk. A senior next to me drew my attention to the papers. He asked me to put all my papers in the desk so that nothing flew away from the desk. He explained to me that if papers flew and got into the House, I would be punished. It amounted to throwing papers into the gallery, common form of protest in the Assembly by outsiders.Such was the sense of decorum of the House and spirit of help of fellow journalists.

Now, the atmosphere in the corridors of the Assembly is more or less same. Strict discipline for outsiders and strangers. MLAs, officers in the officers gallery and visitors in the visitors gallery have to follow the strict discipline. Speaker is the ultimate unchallenged undisputed authority for all. Everyone is conscious of the the omnipresent authority of the Speaker. There is an unwritten dress code. Sober colours and formal clothes are still a tradition followed by all.

Last week, Jagdish Thakore of Congress drew the attention of the Speaker to two senior officers of the Information Department sitting in the visitor gallery.There was nothing wrong in the sense that anyone can be in visitors gallery. But the officers slipped out of the gallery the moment the issue was raised.

After doing a short cameo appearance for the first time in her father’s Bengali film Biyer Phool (1992), Mukerji made her acting debut four years later, as the protagonist of Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1996). Her performance as a rape victim in the film was well received, but when the film failed at the box office, she returned to college to complete her education.[3]

She followed her career by signing on several projects. Unfortunately, most of them did not do well at the box office. Although Badal was one of the highest grossing films of 2000, she still didn’t succeed to establish her status in the industry at that point of time.[5][6]

In 2001, Mukerji starred in Abbas Mustan’s romantic drama Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, co-starring Salman Khan and Preity Zinta. The film was released after a one-year delay, and was one of the first Bollywood movies to handle the issue of surrogate childbirth.[7] Mukerji’s role was that of Priya Malhotra, a woman who is unable to conceive after a miscarriage, thus hires a surrogate mother. Rediff.com wrote, “Rani Mukherji is handicapped with a role that doesn’t give her much scope besides weeping and sobbing. To her credit, she manages to hold her own even while playing a stereotypical sacrificing bhartiya nari.”[8] Mukerji’s role was that of Priya Malhotra, a woman who is unable to conceive after a miscarriage, thus hires a surrogate mother. In 2002, Mukerji played the lead role in Kunal Kohli’s romance Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, co-starring alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Although the movie did not do well in India, it generated great business overseas,[9] and marked her entry into India’s biggest production house: Yash Raj Films. Later that year, Mukerji starred in Shaad Ali’s critically acclaimed Saathiya opposite Vivek Oberoi. The film was a moderate success and became one of the highest grossing movies of the year.[10] Essaying the role of Suhani Sharma, a medical student who deals with the tensions and discontent of married life, she won a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance, and among several other nominations, received her first Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare. Manish Gajjar from BBC noted, “…Rani Mukerjee…plays the character of a middle class girl with great conviction.”[11]

Mukerji comes from a film-oriented family of Bengali origin. Her father Ram Mukherjee is a retired director and one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios[28] while her mother Krishna was a playback singer. Her brother Raja Mukherjee is a film producer, now turned director. Her maternal aunt, Debashree Roy, is a national award-winning Bengali film actress and her cousin, Kajol, is a popular Bollywood actress.

Mukerji is a trained Odissi dancer, and began learning the dance in the tenth grade. Mukerji studied at Maneckji Cooper High School in Juhu, and later enrolled at Mithibai College in Mumbai.

Gossip columnists have linked Mukerji to many industry figures, but she has strongly denied every single rumour of romance.[29] Several gossip columns have also claimed that she is regularly in feud with some of the Bollywood actors and actresses, but Mukerji has denied this.[29]

Mukerji changed the English transliteration of her surname from Mukherjee to Mukerji several years ago. At the time, it was reported that she did this for numerological reasons. In 2006, Mukerji stated that numerology was not a concern; her name had been put down as Mukerji on her passport, and she wanted to be consistent.

Mukerji has three homes in Mumbai, including her childhood home. She bought a bungalow in Juhu for herself and her parents in mid-2005. The house went through a two year renovation with the interiors done by Twinkle Khanna and Sussanne Roshan.[30]

It is not astonishing that René Clair’s picture, “A Nous, la Liberté,” which came to the Europa yesterday, mystified its first-night audience in Paris, for one might hazard that this French-language combination of fantasy and realism is like snapshots of a weird dream. The tale itself, M. Clair’s own account of two prison pals, first inside and then away from jail, is sufficiently lucid, but the manipulation of the incidents is quite another matter. There is little real dialogue, music being often relied upon to do the “talking.” The characters frequently give vent to their thoughts in song, whether they are behind the bars, in a factory or in a banquet hall. And unlike M. Clair’s previous hilarious contribution, “Le Million,” the humor in this new venture, despite its farcical nature, is provocative of thought rather than laughter.

“A Nous, la Liberté” is assuredly different from any other screen feature. It bristles with strange originality. It almost descends to slapstick in one sequence, but even that is set forth imaginatively. In contradistinction to the skittish happenings, there are the cleverly designed settings for the scenes in both the prison and the factory. This angle of the production is extraordinarily thorough, every detail having received most careful attention.

There have been unique introductory glimpses in many pictures, but M. Clair goes all one better by showing prisoners at work making toy horses, some of the inmates sticking legs into the wooden bodies, others doing the painting, and so forth. Emile and Louis, the principals in this fable, are among those at the long table with a moving section in the centre. Following this the convicts are beheld at their evening meal, with the running centre-board on which are the salt, pepper, sugar and bowls of food from which the prisoners help themselves.

It is really quite a dramatic sequence where Emile and Louis, armed with a grappling iron on the end of a rope, are ready to make their escape from their cell. The window bars have been neatly filed and the two men crawl out of their cell, ready to risk their necks by scaling a high wall. Louis, with the aid of his friend, succeeds in getting away, but before the unfortunate Emile can climb the wall he is caught by the keepers.

M. Clair arranges a neat way for Louis to avoid detection. The convict, once in the street, bowls over a speeding cyclist. While the dazed man is on the ground, Louis, who has disrobed down to his underwear, rides away on the bicycle. And then comes one of the few bits at which the spectators laughed. It is where Louis is greeted by a throng as the winner of the cycling race.

Putting to practice some of the ideas of prison, Louis, in course of time, becomes a wonderfully wealthy phonograph manufacturer. His appearance is greatly changed by his prosperity. Eventually Emile is freed from prison, and without knowing that his former cell-mate is managing director of the factory he succeeds in getting employment in the works. One day Emile is told that he must appear before the managing director, and to his astonishment he sees Louis, who is at first reluctant to admit his identity.

These ex-convicts have a high old time in the factory. In one episode a painting of Louis is used for fractious doings. The prison pals look at the painting and then they throw cakes from a buffet table at it, and they roar with laughter when Louis hurls a stone gin bottle through the centre of the canvas.

Louis’s labor-saving devices in the factory are beheld in many of the scenes, and in one of the latter interludes he caps all his other ideas by an invention whereby the phonograh parts are assembled automatically after going through a little tunnel.

As for the romantic side of the story, Emile, a dreamy sort of fellow most of the time, falls in love with a girl worker named Jeanne, but she is not interested in him. When Louis hears about this he insists on the match between the two, giving Jeanne’s old uncle a check for her dowry. But nothing comes of this forced alliance.

The police ultimately learn that Louis is an escaped convict and he decides to flee with his pal. Louis stocks a bag with banknotes, but during a high wind the bag is blown off a table and opens, and soon the air is filled with 1,000-franc notes and also with the tophats of factory, officials who are holding an open-air meeting.

In the final fade-out Louis and Emile have discovered liberty away from prison and work—they are happy tramps, glad to get a few sous with which to buy bread.

Henri Marchand gives a commendable performance as Emile, and Raymond Cardy is capital as the more vigorous Louis. Rolla France is pleasing as Jeanne, and Paul Olivier is excellent as the girl’s uncle.

LOS ANGELES — Microsoft, seeking to expand offerings on its Xbox 360 console, has reached an agreement with a company headed by Peter Safran, the veteran Hollywood producer and talent manager, to produce original shows for distribution on the system.

Through his Safran Company, Mr. Safran represents clients like the actor and producer Sean Combs (“Monster’s Ball”), the actor and writer Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) and the filmmakers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (“Epic Movie”). Mr. Safran founded the company in 2006 after leaving Brillstein-Grey Management.

Speaking by telephone last week, Scott Nocas, global marketing manager for programming of the Xbox Live entertainment service, said he expected similar deals to follow. “We definitely look at this as the first of many,” said Mr. Nocas.

In an interview at his office in Los Angeles last week, Mr. Safran said his first round of programs would all be scripted, as opposed to reality shows, and would probably run under 10 minutes. He said he planned initially to focus on genres, like comedy and horror, that appeal to the Xbox 360 audience, which is heavily concentrated from the ages of 14 to 34, and tends to be more male than female. The first shows are expected to be available to viewers by the fall.

Microsoft’s previous forays in digital entertainment include a two-year-old initiative, MSN Originals, to provide original shows for the Web, and an ill-fated foray more than 10 years ago in which it poured about $100 million into Internet shows like the comedy “475 Madison,” about an advertising agency, then quickly canceled most of them.

“The Xbox is unique. It operates at a level outside of what we generally consider Web entertainment,” Mr. Safran said, referring to the system’s tight demographic base, which is defined by the appeal of signature games like the Halo series.

The new shows will be available exclusively via the Xbox 360 for a time, then may appear elsewhere, Mr. Safran said. Mr. Nocas said at least some of the shows would be supported by advertising.

Current programming on the Xbox 360 includes movies and selections from cable networks like the Sundance Channel and Spike TV. Viewers pay for access to films with points that can be purchased for cash or accumulated through activities on the system.

Mr. Nocas said that about 10 million people had signed up for the Xbox Live service. Roughly 18 million of the game systems have been sold worldwide, he said. The Xbox 360 is up against PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Wii from Nintendo in a hotly competitive gaming marketplace.

Mr. Safran is the latest in a growing line of Hollywood players who are seeking to tap into the digital entertainment market, where revenue still falls far short of that from traditional movie and television distribution outlets. Filmmakers like Joel and Ethan Coen and stars like Will Ferrell have recently become involved with Web-based companies like FunnyOrDie.com or 60Frames Entertainment.

Mr. Safran and Jake Zim, chief operating officer of the Safran Company’s Safran Digital Group, said they expected to recruit established filmmakers for their new productions, but did not plan to seek involvement by major movie stars.

Even after coming in the scaryland repeatedly, this girl made sure to make it to the finals through her talent. She won the hearts of everyone on the show with her sweet smile and her melodious singing. A very down to earth girl she is sure to create waves in the music industry is what most music lovers feel.

How has your journey been through Chhote Ustaad?

It has been a great experience. I have learnt a lot apart from the competition. And I enjoyed a lot with all my friends. And most importantly, I got to learn a lot from two very important people Anand Sharma and Anuj Kapoor, who help us train and give us a lot of technical tips.

How do you feel reaching the finals?

I am quite excited about being in the finals. I am workinhg really hard and we will try and give our best so that the finale is a rocking show.

Were you sure of coming this far?

I wouldn’t say that I was over-confident of making it big here, at the same time I was sure that I had it in me to move on in the competition. My mother had always told me to take it one step at a time. And that’s what I did, I started out slowly by thinking that I just hope I reach the top 11 first. Doing so, I have finally reached the finals.

How are you preparing for the finals?

Preparation is going on pretty strong. We are concentrating a lot more on the performance and our singing. Along with the tension of being in the finals, there is also a lot of excitement. We are working very hard to make sure the finale is a good show.

Among the three judges, who is ur favorite?

All three of them are equally nice. They have all been very caring towards us throughout the competition. They have always made their decisions unanimously and their comments usually don’t vary. All three are the best in their own style and genre.

In the usual format of such shows except for the finals, all the ronds are done in the studio. How do you feel going through this changed format? Which format do you feel is better?

Well when it is a live performance, we have to practice a lot more than for a recorded performance. There is a lot of stress and tension associated with a live performance. In fact I was present for the grand finale of Star Voice of India and I saw that there were a lot of rehearsals held. I have never thought on the lines of which format is better. Both the formats are good in their own way.

Who among you two have the best chance to win?

Umm… what can I say about that? Both of us are working very hard and will give our best. Winning or losing is a part of any competition. All I can say is that after coming to this platform, we have received equal adulation and blessings and I don’t think winning or losing really matters, after reaching to this level.

Any incident that touched you and you would be taking with you after the show gets over?

Yeah I do have a special memory. When the Star Voice of India finale was going on, Lata Mangeshkar had come as the celebrity judge on the show and I was quite excited to meet her. I went up to her and received her blessings too.

Future plans after this show?

After Chhote Ustaad, I hope to become a successful playback singer. Hopefully as I grow I become a versatile singer, that’s all is what I wish for.

Actresses you would love to do playback singing for?

I would like to do playback singing for all the actresses.

Harnessing potential talent and leveraging it in the best possible way – that’s what a ‘gifted child programme’ can do for child geniuses.

Wonder what Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison – whose genius was not recognised when they were in school – would have had to say to this.

For, the ‘gifted child programme’ at a city-based school is doing just that – identifying young geniuses who can go great guns if a conducive atmosphere chisels and hones those potential abilities.

Based on IQ tests and extensive feedback, authorities identified nine students who had special skills in acting, singing and sports and the IQ of over 130 (only 0.4 per cent of the world’s population falls in this category) to match.

“Although their IQ may change, these kids have special skills in particular fields and providing a platform to develop them is necessary,” says special educator Nutan Kasliwal.

Keeping this in mind, a special curriculum has been devised for them and a teacher trainer assigned to facilitate their growth. “We are often assigned a topic and asked to develop a character or a plot to help us understand acting,” says Sahil Shah, all of nine years, who is one of the four students identified as skilled in acting.

With such practice, no wonder he has landed a role in an upcoming Tanuja Chandra movie featuring Sushmita Sen and Shiney Ahuja.

So, has this programme really given wings to fly to the ‘chosen’ few as intended? “Although I recognised Sahil’s interest and talent in acting at an early stage, the training has helped him become more confident,” says Sahil’s mother, Sneha Shah.

Agrees Ranna Patel, whose son Chaitya has been featured in various ads as well as prominent plays, “My son used to attend dancing and acting camps since he was four years old.

But, he has certainly improved his expression and confidence after being identified as a gifted child. I am glad his inborn potential is being drawn forth.”

Adds Sanju Thakur, whose daughter Parita is also a part of the programme, “She was always fond of acting, but we never took it seriously until the school told us about her potential.”

But, are parents supportive about their children? “If Vyom decides to pursue acting as a career later in life, we would support him fully,” says Uren Bhatt about his son, who is also ‘gifted’ with acting skills.

No doubt, however, that having an above average IQ means these students are able to balance academics with these activities quite comfortably at this stage.

However, there are those like class VIII student Aishwarya Majmudar, a singing sensation who are so focused on their ‘gift’ that they are even ready to put academics on the backseat.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Shreya Goshal and Sunidhi Chauhan, her mother Rima Majumdar says, “If Aishwarya decides to focus completely on singing, I wouldn’t mind her putting ’studying in a school’ on the backburner.” Big dreams on small shoulders, but then geniuses can carry off the weight, can’t they?

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Darsheel Safary of the Taare Zameen Par fame hogged the limelight as he walked the ramp for renowned fashion designer Neeta Lulla at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) here.

“I was both nervous and confident. I did not do any practice but it was nice,” Darsheel told IANS.

The 12-year-old actor was in a brown velvet suit and off-white shirt and said: “I like what I am wearing and would give 10 out of 10 to her.”

Apart from Darsheel, the show witnessed a bevy of Bollywood stars – Sameera Reddy, Sheeba, Bhagyashree and Shatrughan Sinha’s wife and actor Poonam Sinha – seated in the front row.

Attired in a white kurta and churidar, Sameera said: “I love Neeta’s work. There is always the ‘Indianness’ intact with it. As models sashayed down the runway I was once again pleasantly surprised by her creative brilliance. The Persian-look and the intricate embroidery the outfits had, were just beautiful.”

“However, I must confess that Darsheel stole the show. I have seen so many show stoppers but he was the best,” she added.

The show kicked off with a dancer wearing a yellow anarkali kurta and churidar swaying to the beats of Sufi song ‘Sanam ab dil mein bhi tu hai…’ on the ramp.

“The theme of my collection was – I love you a little more than you do – was a tribute to immortal love,” said Lulla.

“Everyday, all of us keep saying this to each other but don’t give heed to it. The collection draws inspiration from a woman who loves his soul mate without any expectations,” she added.

Followed by a brigade of models walking down the runway sporting flowing dresses of varied lengths and styles, kurtas teamed with churidars and slacks.

This apart, there were long gowns, mermaid skirts, corset tops and tooth short and long jackets. The outfits had splendid use of crush effect and intricate embroidery like zardozi, dabka and sequins work.

“The crush effect was in sync with the theme – varied form of textures like georgettes, organza, chiffon, fur and satin were used to bring out the subtlety of love.

“Also, a lot of embroidery was used because we are Indians and if we do not incorporate our own treasure (embroidery) how would we come of age?” Lulla added.

The colour palette ranged from ivory, beiges, pinks, maroons and burgundy, which “depicted the passion of love”.

Models were tastefully accessorized with embroidered gloves, fur bands and flowers on the head.

Commenting on why she picked up Darsheel, Lulla said: “You can’t depict love without a child, which has enormous innocent love for everyone. So I zeroed in on him.”

Speaking on why the collection seemed as an extension of her Jodhaa Akbar line, she said: “It had to be an extension of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ collection because the film is also about eternal love.”

Mumbai: Bollywood stars sizzle on the ramp on Sunday at the ongoing ‘Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2008’ in top Indian designers creations.

The highlight of the day was Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor as he walked the ramp for designer Arjun Khanna.

The visitors present during the show cheered Ranbir Kapoor who looked graceful in an embroidered long coat with standing collar, straight pants in batik print and a scarlet scarf tied around the neck.

Khanna romped in Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who was ecstatic after walking on the ramp for his designer friend.

“I’m a bit degraded as far as fashion is concerned. All I know is through Arjun. He’s very passionate about everything in his life from designing clothes to his cars and bikes and even interior decoration. I love this guy to death and he asked me if I could walk on the ramp and I was more than happy to walk as I also love his fashion,” said Ranbir Kapoor.

The collection offered cropped jackets and very slim fitted pants something that you can wear over a long time and which never goes out of fashion.

The show was unique and exclusive as it successfully translated the timelessness of conventional designs to modern context.

“Fabrics were coarser in my collection. I am looking at the fall-winter. I played with fabrics like Coudray, Cotton Coudray and Woolen Coudray. There is a lot of technique which went into making of all these clothes,” said Khanna.

Bath and body product giant Lux showcased a line at the Lakme Fashion Week for the first time and it was designed by none other than Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra.

She is a powerhouse of talent. A singer with a voice so versatile that she’s sung for everyone from Kareena Kapoor to Rekha. Injecting energy and spirit into her music, she turns even ordinary songs into chartbusters.

She made her first big splash with song Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi from the movie Mast and hasn’t looked back since then. She is the very gifted Sunidhi Chauhan.

Sunidhi Chauhan: Thank you.

Rajeev Masand: With your hit song from the film Race, the New Year started off with a bang for you, didn’t it? It’s a song that has been filmed on not one but three very hot actresses. You’ve given some of the top Bollywood actresses some of their sexiest songs. Do they ever come to you to thank you for making them sound so sexy on screen?

Sunidhi Chauhan: They are all very sweet but hardly any of them come and say thank you. However, whenever Lara Dutta meets me she says, “You know I still perform on Jadoo Daala Re and it so well sung.” So you know there are very few people but it is okay. It is not their fault because sometimes they don’t even know who sang the song. Most of the time while recording even we aren’t aware of who the song will be picturised on.

Rajeev Masand: Sunidhi, 2007 was an interesting year for you. You sang for Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film Aaja Nachle. You also gave us one of the most popular songs of 2007 – Sajna Di Vari Vari from Honeymoon Travels. Yet when it came to awards, most of them went to your rival, you contemporary Shreya Ghosal for her song in Guru. Any hard feelings?

Sunidhi Chauhan: Not at all. I am happy to have a nomination, and I had two of them in all the awards. That’s enough for me. My award is when I perform on stage, when people see me, they buy tickets and come, and have a blast. And I’m not being filmi about it. I’m telling you the truth. Yes, awards are important. They give you a boost to work better, but if they don’t come around then it’s okay. At least my name was announced twice. I got the award the year before that so there has to be a break.

Rajeev Masand: Your singing style has some very strong western influences. In fact you have often said that some of the singers you grew up listening to where Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. What were the songs you used to sing in the bathroom while growing up?
Sunidhi Chauhan: To be frank I was never a bathroom singer. I never got a chance to. I have been singing professionally from the age of four. I started doing shows when I was four. I started singing English songs after I turned 11. That was when I had just shifted to Bombay. I used to listen to Always Be My Baby from the album Day Dream by Mariah Carey. That was my favourite song. I grew up singing that song.
Rajeev Masand: Was Bollywood always a very welcoming place? You started pretty young. Did you find lots of egos and lots of people being difficult?
Sunidhi Chauhan: I was very young at that time. I was 11-12.However, my dad had to struggle for me. He left his career and everything and we moved to Bombay. It was him who used to meet people and take all the s*** that they gave. My job was just to go along with him, sing and come back. “Beta, wahan ja ke gao. Haan abhi chup ho jao (Go there and sing. Okay, now that’s it).” Like a tape recorder. Thanks to my dad. I am what I am today because of him.
Rajeev Masand: Let’s take a few questions from the audience. Vishal wants to know what do you do to maintain your voice?
Sunidhi Chauhan: Have lots of ice-cream, achaar (pickle)…that’s what works for me. No, but seriously, I am not so hardcore. If I have a bad throat, I won’t go and eat anything that I want to but if I’m okay I’ll eat everything. I enjoy my life and I think that is what you should do.
Rajeev Masand: Alok wants to ask that of all the songs you have sung till now, which is your favourite?
Sunidhi Chauhan: My favourite song is from the film My Brother Nikhil. It is called Le Chale.

Rajeev Masand: Lata Mangeshkar has always said that Sunidhi is one of the finest young singers…
Sunidhi Chauhan: That makes me feel so good.
Rajeev Masand: You were also discovered as an artist on a show that she was involved with. The show was called Meri Awaaz Suno.
Sunidhi Chauhan: About 12 years ago, I was in this competition. I participated because I wanted to see Lataji once. I wanted to touch her. So I took a chance hoping that if I win, I’ll get to see her very close. And it happened. She announced my name and she wiped my tears. I was crying. I couldn’t believe that I was standing in front of her. My dream had come true. It was the most memorable moment of my life.
Rajeev Masand: Sunidhi, this is the Rapid Fire round. This is the one where I ask you a couple of quick questions and you give me some quick answers. We don’t give you lots of time to think about them and we expect some clever answers. So the first question: which is the song that you least expected to become a hit?
Sunidhi Chauhan: Dhoom Machale.
Rajeev Masand: Seriously?
Sunidhi Chauhan: When I sang it, it was the most ordinary song. Even Pritam thinks the same way. We thought it was a nice song but it became such a huge hit. We never expected that.
Rajeev Masand: The one song whose picturisation you were embarrassed by?
Sunidhi Chauhan: Oh this is a difficult one. Aag!
Rajeev Masand: The one composer you don’t want to left alone in a music room with?
Sunidhi Chauhan: Uh, okay. Anu Malikji because he is so innovative. It takes him no time to compose a song. So if we sit together, he will come up with something or the other new.
Rajeev Masand: Himesh Reshammiya — genius or delusional?
Sunidhi Chauhan: He is somewhere in between.
Rajeev Masand: Your favourite between Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle?

Rajeev Masand: The strangest rumour you’ve heard about yourself?

Sunidhi Chauhan: That I’m going around with Anu Malik. It was everywhere. It made me laugh. I mean he’s like my father’s age man. Link me with some good-looking guys for God sake!

Rajeev Masand: The most overrated singer is?

Sunidhi Chauhan: Atif Aslam. I know there are many fans of Atif Aslam but I think he can’t sing. Sorry.

Rajeev Masand: The one song of yours that you can’t bear to listen to?

Sunidhi Chauhan: Woh Raat Kati, Woh Din Nikla from Paheli. I didn’t sing it well.

Rajeev Masand: Well, you did quite well in the Rapid Fire round. You were quite honest. Now Fatima from our audience wants to know what would you have been if you were not a singer?

Sunidhi Chauhan: A singer again. Maybe a very small singer like somewhere in a train or somewhere, but I still would have been a singer.

Rajeev Masand: And Raheem wishes to know your opinion about the music reality shows?

Sunidhi Chauhan: No opinion. In fact there’s hardly any reality in them.

Rajeev Masand: We can’t go away without talking about your song Yeh Mera Dil from Don, the cover version of the original song. You sang it really well, however, you were very humble when you said that original is the original and that Asha Bhosle’s version is better. In fact she wasn’t terribly pleased that a cover version was being made.

Sunidhi Chauhan: The idea was to have fun. We’re doing the remake of Don and it has to be the way it used to be before, but in a little more stylised way. I mean it should sound new and current. I was not trying to be one up with anyone. That’s why I didn’t sing it like the original version. The song was to be picturised in a closed room. It had to be sensuous so it was sung very softly. So there was no question of comparison. I’m glad that it still worked.

by Anwesha, Aiswarya and Anamika on youtube.com. Just type in Nimbura or Nimbooda. Anwesha sang a much tougher version with a lot of energy! Aish sang a much simpler version and lacked that extra punch! Aish sang well but Anwesha’s rendition was definitely much much better.

And no one is forgetting Aishwarya, to those supporters who claim that. She sings very sweetly and with great expression. My personal opinion is that Anwesha is better — I love the clearer, higher quality in her voice.

People say it was rude that Anwesha made the “don’t cry at the mike” comment — but if they are truly good friends, I’m sure it’s all in jest. Come on, they are only teenagers, not even that old yet.

Oh come on, Anwesha was just playfully teasing Aishwarya, they are really good friends in reality – there was no malicious intent with that comment. The fact that she could say that shows how comfortable she is with Aish. There’s no need to make a big deal about it. Btw, Aish has also done the same before, it was just conveniently edited out..Plus, Abhas also called Aish a cry-baby right to her face. Why aren’t there any comments on this. There are also some comments on Anu’s dancing. Well, you see Anwesha has been pressured into performing after being accused of lacking x-factor from some people, including the judges (they didn’t directly tell her that she lacks x-factor, but it was hinted). I do agree that her dancing with Rani onsatge somewhat affected her first performance, as she lost her sur in a few places, but she still sang it well IMO. But she was totally out of this world with her superb Begali classical rendition!

ok, some more timepass.. my rating of some of anvesha’s best songs is as follows:

1. Aao Na – not a difficult song to sing, but anvesha made this a special.. only the original singer, Asha, can do what she has done in this song.. this song proves her verstality which is much more than her idol Shreya.. you can listen to her rendition 100 times without getting bored..
2. Mahi ve – a gem of course.. range and variations were superb.. no match to original singer Richa Sharma (becos she is natural for this song).. but she did beat my other favorite contestant, poonam, for this song..
3. Nimbuda – i have heard versions of various contestants, but she was the best in it.. a tough song to sing..
4. Dola re – tougher song to sing.. it was not as smooth as what Shreya has sung alongwith Kavita in the recorded version.. but an excellent effort..
5. Ami Je Tomar – standout performance by Anvesha here.. some nasal touch can be noticed which can cause this one not to be her no 1 performance..
6. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam – breathtaking performance.. she excelled in all songs of Kavita.. this could be argued for rating among top songs of her..
7. Mausam Ki Adla Badli Mein – abs breathtaking one.. song itself is immensely beautiful.. anvesha sang it perfectly allright except that “pavan” was not that smooth.. well, with a fever, to sing a song of this intensity, is commendable..
8. Bavariya – beautifully sung song..
9. Mujhe Rang De – I personally prefer it much more than the original
10. Kambhakt Ishq – standout performance.. could be rated above..
11. Chhoti Si Kahani – good song, very well sung, flawless rendition..
12. Khallas – excellent rendition, but of course not as good as the original..
13. Ek Radha Ek Meera – very tough song for variatons.. sung by lata, whom you can’t match.. still Anvesha has done great justice to this song.. worth having in your ipod..
14. O Meri Jaan – I could never imagine a girl singing a pure rock number.. Anvesha did a great job with this one.. my personal favorite..
15. Jane Kiya Chahe Mun – orginal by zubin is standout.. anvesha’s version is not that bad either..
16. Barso Re Megha – you can’t beat Shreya for this one.. Anvesha gave it a good shot though..
17. Chalka – many contestant has sung this song quite well.. I guess the best rendition was from Niharika from saregamapa 2005
18. Kanta Laga – an average song sung so beautifully by Anvesha, making her a special contestant..

Guys I have all of these songs in my IPod and my analysis is based on daily listening of her songs.. Many people appreciated her bengali song, which i could not understand much as I don’t know the language.. Therefore I have not included it here.. But it sounded very sweet to me as the language itself is so sweet to ears..

if you can convince her parents to join these two and follow whitney houston classics >that will fit perfectly in ANWESHA.

anwesha’s classical song – “shankara kore domoru baaje” (meaning “domoru” plays in shib’s hands) was truely outstanding. irrespective of whether she wins or not, she can very well be remembered just for that number. it was such a difficult sargam and to sing with so smoothly (as shreya pointed out “paani-ke tarah”) – it was really awesome. aisharya is also a very good singer (with all the sweetness in her voice) in her own rights and should win a lot of accolades – my best wishes to her. but somehow, i cannot see anyone other than anwesha winning this competition. she’s just too good! I feel she’s ready for the big stage and even now, she can be a great playback singer (aish may require few more years – loses breathe little too fast and sur thora-sa hilta).

I don’t have any song of Aish in mp3 format yet, but I liked some of her performances a lot…

1. Piya Tose Naina Lage Re: Oh my gosh.. she sounded so sweet in this song.. not very smooth rendition, but I still love it..
2. Kesariya Balam: Breathtaking for sure.. her voice is so powerful and sweet.. she beats Anvesha in voice quality for sure (mind you, I am a big Anvesha fan, but truth is truth).. she was shaky at certain point in the song, but you don’t mind that.. cos this song is so tough to sing..
3. Man Mohana: She did full justice to the variations of the song.. very tough song to sing..
4. Chori Chori: As usual she has done commendable job in variations.. people may argue that this one is not as good as the original.. for me, it was a pleasurable rendition..
5. Albela: This song is sung perfectly by Amanat.. but Aish was no less in her rendition..
6. O Sajna: Bengali and Hindi version of the song.. This song is my personal favorite from Lata.. and Aish’s rendition of the same is BREATHTAKING.. so much sweetness is there in her voice.. she has done full justice to this song, variations and all.. can easily be rated one of the best rendition of this competition

These 6 songs are her standout performances as per me.. people will refer to her other renditions like “Aaj jane kei Zid” and all, as good ones.. but I feel they are not comparable to these ones..

Listening to these, I don’t mind if she is crowned no 1, above my favorite Anvesha, as these are performances good enough to win any competition.. She has a sweet and powerful voice.. Her many performances were not as good and consistent as Anvesha’s, but some of them were stellar..

But, if everything is in my hand, I would give the number 1 position to Anvesha.. as I still feel, she is the BEST

one thing I observed.. Aish has sung all those beautiful, classical and best songs of Lata of that melodious era, while Anvesha hasn’t sung a single one !!! Isn’t that strange ?!? This will not give a fair judgement to choose who is the best.. well well well, atleast for you.. I know who is the best

Who sang the “Ek Radha Ek Meera” from Ram Teri Ganga Maili orginially ? If you dig earlier episodes you will see Anwesha who has sung the same song. Also “Aa Jaane Jaan” was sung by Anwesha. I love anwesha, and iI think she is a more versatile playback singer of the two, but having said that i must confess that the numbers i have enjoyed the most in this programme are classical songs by Aishwarya; they are really inspiring.

It is no critisism of anwesha, since i think she is really beyond critisism, but the bengali song from this episode has been overrated. There wasnt enough power in her srgms – infact they were a bit of drag- just there for the sake of it. It felt like a student rendition. I wish she sang more classical songs in the programme so we could judge her talent in this area as well. Everything else, she has a complete control over.

Aishwarya’s voice is fantastic. I really hope that she pursues classical singing besides playback singing. She has a real talent for classsical music.

I really think we should stop comparing aish and Anu, it is a bit like comparing Lata and Aasha- although one of them could be our personal favourite they both have very different strengths ; what would be hindi music without any one of them!

Madam thanks for your above post . While our friend from usa DR BISWAS is very much active I stopped sending my posts when I noticed that some persons misused my name and created confusion on this site .
I am very fond of Gajendra Singh’s music show and I have recordings of this show from 1993 to 2006.
While the content of the show has become more of a melodrama rather than good /soulful music the presentation has been quite exciting.
I did not watch first few episodes of Chhote Ustad as I did not find any good performances in the begining. It is entirely on account of some amazing performances of Aishwarya and Anwesha that i began to to watch this show regularly.
I have been watching such shows for more than a decade but the finalist in this programme are almost equally talented and it would be erroneous to pick any one as superior to the other. This very phenomenon has generated lot of excitement and interest.
If the Grand Finale at Mumbai on Star Plus channel on 5th april at 8 PM is properly planned and presented it will indeed be a show to remember. I have however my own doubts .It all depends on song selection .If either of the finalists gets songs of her choice she will run away with the title. The real test will be when both the girls are given at least two common songs- one classical and one semi-classical popular number . Let us hope for the grand spectacle on Saturday.

I beg to differ on your views on the Grand Finale! I would assume the grand finale would just be a vareity show kind of thingy to fill in the alloted time slots, since by then the votes would have been counted and Anwesha or Aishwarya singing good songs would make no difference (to the final result, I mean).
If Gajman, was indeed dedicated to the promotion of music, he should have given good songs to these kids during the Kolkatta, Gujarat, Japipur et al. places before the FINALE!
If the trend continues, it would be no surprise if Gajman beats the Ambani’s to the Richest Indian fame!!
I for one think, all these “Semi-Final” stage shows were the most poorest production (in terms of singing by the kiddos) and Gajman is just making use of these shows just to fill his pockets and nothing else..PERIOD!!!

Guys i have friend working for STAR VOI team and i recently heard from him that Aishwarya won in votes. So Aishorya is CHOTE USTAAD and she will be formally announced by Sir Amithab Bachhan on 5th.

Really i also did heard about the rumor but i was not sure I also think the vote result is already known to people working and they leaked it out

How can this rumour be true? The voting lines are open till 2 pm on the day of the Grand Finale and people are still voting.But, if true, this is a sad day for Indian music.

An iota of truth in this statement means that Gajji has misled people. People are still voting and we have and a winner is supposedly decided. I am shocked.

I am a gujju and still i prefer anvesha. because she is much better than that affected spoilt aishwarya who is only a mediocre singer. i would rank her 7′th among all chote sutads.

Please allow viewers to vote for the two finalists till the end of the show as by fixing the deadline of 2pm i.e. before the telecast of the finale the performances of the finalists in the finale will be redundant.The viewers must get the final opportunity to rate the performances in the grand finale and cast their vote prudently. To arrive at the final result before the telecast of the finale will be MOCKERY of the entire system of voting.
The two finalists must be allowed to select their own songs in the finale and atleast two songs of the finalists choice should be sung by both of them either as duets or as solos to help the voters to select the better talent.
